Chapter 48. Increasingly Vague

Hasna looked at the three people who were now in front of her. The woman folded her arms in front of her chest while throwing a cynical look. Makutha took a deep breath and then exhaled slowly.

"Na, you're in grave danger. So please believe me this time. Let Ruby keep your safety." Makutha tries to persuade Hasna to accept Ruby as her bodyguard.

"No need to be happy, Tha. I'm fine without a bodyguard." Hasna remained stingy on her stance.

Makutha had persuaded Hasna repeatedly. However, the beautiful doctor is reluctant to accept help from Makutha. She assumes everything will be fine with, or without Ruby looking after her.

"I'm not lebay, Na. You are in real danger now! I've been informed that Liam is after you to threaten me!"

This time Makutha spoke in a high tone. He was really frustrated facing Hasna's stubbornness. For him it is very difficult to overcome the attitude of the woman.

"Stop, Tha! If that had happened, it might have been my destiny!" Hasna stared intently at the man she had long liked.

"I told you to bury your grudge. But, you won't listen to me!" hasna said as she folded her arms in front of her chest.

"Na, I can't just forget about it! Don't you remember how ...."

"Stop! Don't ask me to join you in your revenge. Everything that happened to Cio was already his fate line! Free to hold a grudge!" Hasna's anger has peaked to the crown. If Makutha continues to be here it is certain that her emotions will explode that very second.

"Three of you go now! It's night." It's night."

Hasna stared intently at Makutha, Ruby, and Farhan in turn. The woman felt their presence was very disturbing. Especially it's midnight. He was worried that the presence of the three of them would disrupt Maudy's sleep.

"Ma ...."

"I said go!" drive Hasna away with emphasis on every word she says.

"Oh, okay."

Finally Makutha, Farhan, and Ruby got off the couch and left the apartment. The three leisurely walked towards the parking lot while thinking of the best solution to keep Hasna safe.

"I'll keep it quiet."

"But how? You sure you can monitor Hasna within 24 hours, Beb?"

"could. But I need a surveillance camera. Or at least a micro-sized sound eavesdropper."

"I'll get it ready for you!" sahut Makutha's.

"alright. If the device is ready, let me know immediately."

Makutha nodded steadily. Finally that night they separated and went home to each other.

"Assalaamualaikum Warahmatullahi Westarakatuh. Good Morning, audience. On this day will be held a Criminal Case hearing on behalf of the accused Rojali ... to be reminded to all participants of the trial to disable all means of communication and not to do things that can interfere with the course of the trial." Makutha started opening the trial that day.

During the trial, Rojali looked so calm. Actually the day when he was snatched up by Farhan and Makutha, the man refused Makutha's offer. He even intends to divulge the behavior of the judge for trying to practice bribery.

However, after a rethink. Jali decides to unpack everything that happened through her lawyer. He will say that he committed an act of terror because it was requested by Liam.

"Based on what the Public Defender wrote, the Assembly of Judges asked the Public Prosecutor to present a new witness, Mr. Liam, to attend the upcoming trial!"

Everyone present in the trial was stunned. They didn't expect this trial to carry the Mayor's name. The Metropolitan Municipality residents know Liam as a very competent Mayor.

Liam is considered an honest, intelligent and caring leader with the poor. They were all doubtful of what Makutha had just said that the Mayor was involved in the case.

"Sir Liam is a good man. There's no way he's threatening people like Mr. Jali."

"I think this is a game from Mr. Liam's opponents in politics."

It was the comment that repeatedly came out of the lips of the audience who witnessed the hearing. Makutha only smiled faintly hearing every comment that came out of their lips.

After closing the hearing, Makutha immediately left the seat followed by two other member judges. As he walked towards his study. Arjun was already waiting at the door.

"Can we talk for a second?"

Makutha did not answer the man's question. He continued walking towards the door and ignored Arjun. The man was not seen in Makutha's vision.

"That!" arjun exclaimed as Makutha ignored him.

Makutha stopped, then turned back. He stared at Arjun. That hostile look made Arjun feel nervous.

"What are you here for? Did the Mayor ask for it?"

"Tha, listen to me!" Arjun's approaching.

When he was right in front of Makutha, Arjun turned left and right to make sure no one else was around.

"Stop it and forget about your past grudges. Liam is as cunning as his father. If you're not careful, then you're not the only one who's broken. But ...."

"What other threats will you give me, sir?" Makutha smiled slantingly with a look of eyes that revealed dislike to the man before her.

"Once I hit the drums of war, I will never back down. I'll finish that war, whatever the risk!"

Arjun was silent for a moment. Actually the man came to see Makutha of his own accord. Nothing to do with Liam.

However, he already understood very well the nature of Makutha. The man will be difficult to stop if he already has the will. Makutha is a person who is so persistent and difficult to shake in order to realize what he wants. Arjun exhaled a rough breath then put his hand into his pants pocket.

"I warned you. I'm no longer involved with Liam or the Leopard Gang. If you need help, just come to me." Arjun looked at Makutha.

"I'm sorry for my attitude in the past. I had to do everything because ...." Arjun's words were floating in the air as Makutha suddenly burst into laughter.

"Thank you for your offer, sir. And I don't care why Mr. Arjun betrayed me back then!" Slowly Makutha's laughter stopped, and her smile vanished.

"Oh yeah, I'm old enough to forgive you, but I'm not stupid enough to trust you anymore."

Makutha stared intently at Arjun for a few seconds. After being satisfied to see Arjun's regretful expression, he turned back and turned the door lever. The man's body disappeared behind the door.

"Tha, sometimes we have to act as traitors in order to get into the enemy stronghold and help our friends." Arjun stared at the now tightly shut door.
