Makutha immediately thrust the black box that she had been carrying behind her pocket. Hasna frowned. He stared at the box before him with Makutha alternately.
"What, this?"
"Open." Makutha smiled widely.
Hasna slowly grabbed the box, and opened it. The woman's eyes were perfectly rounded when she found out what was inside the black box. A necklace with a pendant of sapphire looks so luxurious and dazzling to the eye.
"Tha, what does this mean?" ask Hasna.
"I-that, as my apology, Na. Sorry for making you uncomfortable."
"What about the bodyguard?"
Makutha nodded at a glance. Hasna smiled and put the black box back on the table.
"Tha, actually I just don't want you to worry too much about me. I'm fine now. If the Leopard Gang really wanted to go after me, they would have done it long ago." Hasna smiled gently trying to calm Makutha down.
"Na, if I hadn't heard this directly from Toni, I wouldn't have been this worried."
"Toni?" Hasna frowned and slightly tilted her head.
"Yes, actually a few days ago Toni met me with Usman and Niki. They intend to turn themselves in after all evidence of Liam's crimes is enough to drag him to prison."
"Tha, are you sure of what they say? They're snakes." Hasna tried to warn Makutha.
The beautiful doctor knows very well how Makutha's attitude is too trusting with others. He was often deceived because of his lack of vigilance.
"I'll be more careful this time, Na. I'll just take the information from them without unpacking the plan I've prepared."
"Well, if that's your decision. Hopefully this time they have no intention of tricking you."
Makutha nodded, then got up from the chair. He grabbed the necklace that was inside the jewelry box. The man started walking around the table and stopped right behind Hasna.
The handsome judge put the necklace on Hasna's neck. The red hue on Hasna's cheeks became clearer, as she felt very happy. Makutha began to close her lips to Hasna's ears.
"Na, you look so beautiful" whispered Makutha.
Hearing the praise from Makutha, made Hasna blush in embarrassment. He could no longer hold a happy smile. The woman glanced at Makutha who was still smiling thinly beside her.
"Thank you, Tha."
"Together." Makutha returned to her seat then stared softly at Hasna.
The two of them spoke lightly and exchanged stories. Enjoying lunch interspersed with jokes and laughter. Without them noticing, someone was stalking the two in the corner of the restaurant.
"They're still here, sir."
"Keep watching!"
...****************...
After finishing lunch with Hasna, Makutha immediately contacted Ruby. He wanted to make sure that the surveillance cameras attached to Hasna's pendant were working properly.
"By, how?" ask Makutha over the phone.
"Alright. I can see what Hasna sees. But, there is one weakness of this tool."
"What?" makutha asked while frowning.
"I can't monitor the situation behind Hasna."
"no need. I think this is enough. I will be around him every time. I just wanted to confirm his condition when my eyes couldn't see Hasna directly."
"All right then. I beg for help."
Makutha also turned off the phone. He refocused his gaze on the back-crowded streets.
Upon arriving at the Court, he saw most of the employees looking at him cynically. A few more looked at him with questionable gazes that were hard to decipher. Makutha paid him no heed and continued walking towards her study.
Makutha turned the door lever slowly. When the door opened wide, the man's eyes were perfectly rounded. The figure of an oriental-faced middle-aged man was already sitting on the judge's work chair. Makutha's jaw hardens with fingers tightly clenched beside the body.
"Ah, I actually hate waiting. But, because what I'm waiting for is you .. I'm trying to enjoy it." Roby started to get up from the chair and walked over to Makutha.
Makutha closed the door to her office. He threw a sharp look at the President. The man's jaw hardened even more when he saw a grin engraved on Roby's lips.
"Makutha, how are you?" asked Roby with a slanted smile.
"What do you need to do here?"
"It seems you don't like pleasantries, huh?" Roby's steps stopped right in front of Makutha.
"I came to make an offer."
Makutha stared intently at Roby who started to move around her. The magistrate's eyeballs continued to follow wherever Roby stepped, while continuing to listen to all the sentences that came out of his lips.
"The chairperson for the High Court is vacant. I intend to offer it to you."
Makutha snorted while turning her face away. Shortly afterwards a slanted smile was etched on his lips. He turned his back, put his hand in his pants pocket, then squinted when he looked at Roby.
"I don't understand what you mean, sir."
"Close the case involving Liam, and you'll get the top job in the High Court."
Hearing Roby's words made Makutha flounder. He held her stomach. The corner of the handsome man's eyes began to get wet.
Roby's face changed. His face was starting to look red. The man's jaw also hardened, and a sharp gaze now adorned the eyes that were not that wide.
"You laughing at me?" ask Roby growling.
"Wait, Sir. I haven't finished laughing." Makutha continued to laugh while bowing her body.
After being content to laugh at the attitude of the President, Makutha rubbed the end of her watery eyes. Makutha was the first to dare laugh at Roby.
"Look, Sir. Aren't you ashamed to do this to me?" Makutha raised an eyebrow.
"Did you forget seven years ago when you came to the police station, you said something like this."
Makutha tidied the tie then cleared her throat a few times. The man tried to put on a flat expression. He said another sentence that came out of Roby's lips a few years ago.
"I was wrong to send Liam to school like this! So he's wrong to hang out with lowly humans like you!" Makutha laughed again.
"Then now you come to this lowly man to offer a position, to release Liam from all charges! You are so funny! Isn't this what it's called licking your own spit?"
Roby was also emotionally disturbed. He clenched his fingers vigorously trying to contain the anger that was now burning his heart. The man began to think that Makutha was a pebble that should be removed immediately, if not willing to slip.
"This is my first and last offer. I hope you won't regret rejecting it and choose to continue the investigation against Liam!"
"I will never regret the decision I made."
Roby stared hard at Makutha for the last time and then left. He opened the door and slammed it rough. Makutha did not expect that the President would come to his office to save the son.
