The Dark Side of a Judge

The Dark Side of a Judge
Chapter 65. First Day of Trial

Three weeks later ....

Makutha sat down in front of the judge. The sad condition and atmosphere is indeed. If he usually sits behind a green table, now the man has to sit at the table. He stared one by one the judge, the public prosecutor, and the clerk there.

Makutha wanted to know how clean the person before her was right now. The judge read out the charges against Makutha. After the Judge has read the indictment, it is now the Public Prosecutor's turn to read the charges. Shortly thereafter the Chief Judge mentioned his name.

"How does the Defendant, do you want to raise an objection?"

"I leave everything to my Legal Counsel, Your Honor." Makutha looked at the judge before her with complete confidence.

Legal adviser Makutha got up straight from the chair. He handed over a copy of the exception to be read to the Chief Justice, then returned to his seat. Legal adviser named Lila also began reading objections to the demands that have been read by the Public Prosecutor.

"I object, Your Majesty. Defendant Makutha was framed and forced to participate in the brawl."

Lila stared fixedly at the Chief Justice then smiled faintly, "For that, we beg the discretion of the Court to release the accused from all charges."

"Can there be a witness to reinforce your statement?"

"Can, Your Majesty."

Shortly after, Hasna entered the courtroom. He was asked to take an oath and was led by a judge. After he finished taking the oath, Hasna was allowed to sit in the chair that had been provided.

Makutha glanced at Hasna, and at the same time the gazes of the two met. Hasna clenched her fingers and then showed them to Makutha.

"Spirit!" exclaim Hasna with sparkling eyes.

Makutha nodded steadily while smiling gently. The two's gazes were again separated when the judge asked Hasna to tell him what she knew as the incident unfolded.

"Sister Hasna, you have been sworn and must tell all the truth - actually without anything being reduced or exaggerated."

"Okay, Your Majesty."

"Do you know the defendant?" ask the Chief Judge firmly.

"I know him, Your Majesty. He's my foster brother."

"Can you tell me the chronology of what happened seven years ago?"

"Can, Your Majesty. That day I was picked up by Abercio, the victim died when the brawl almost happened." Hasna took a deep breath before continuing her words.

"However, when I was looking for Cio, Alex approached me."

"Who is Alex?"

"One of Makutha's tongkrongan friends at High School, Your Highness."

"Alright, continue."

"Alex approached me and asked for help to be escorted to a shop. At first I refused, as there was already an appointment with Abercio. But Alex forced. Makutha says that at the same time, Liam showed me and Alex a photo to threaten her."

"What kind of threat did Liam make to Makutha?"

"He said that Alex would harass me if Makutha would not take part in the brawl, Your Majesty."

"Doubt, Your Majesty!" shouted the Public Prosecutor.

Suddenly the gaze of the entire courtroom was fixed on the man named Brian. Brian got up from the chair and stood up to express his objection to the judge.

"Your Majesty, I see with my own eyes! After I drove Alex to the stall, he was picked up by Liam and Hendry!" exclaims Hasna while looking intently at Brian who is trying to obscure the facts.

There was a hammer knock, then the Chief Justice said, "I hope everyone calms down and sits down again!"

Hasna's chest rumbled to Brian's words. The woman clenched her fingers tightly with her perfectly hardened jaw trying to withstand the turmoil of anger.

"Is there anything else you want to say, Sister Hasna?"

"When Cio and I were about to go to a food stall, we saw Makutha, Liam, Hendry, and Alex in a field with a group of students from another school. They're carrying wooden beams."

The shadow of Cio's terrible condition again floated in Hasna's eye pelup. He was silent, not feeling a clear circle coming down from Hasna's eyes. He wiped the tears, hoping that his sadness would be completely wiped out.

The trial is back. All the witnesses present gave evidence according to what they knew. However, the last witness turned Makutha upside down. It turns out that Hendry and Alex came to the trial as witnesses.

...****************...

Elsewhere, Roby is waiting for news from one of his confidants regarding the Makutha trial. His jaw hardened when he got word that his name was also mentioned by Arjun.

"He said that you bribed the Solo Police Chief, sir."

Roby's jaw is hardened. His hands clenched on the table. The muscles around the President's eyes look so tense. She did not expect Arjun to dare to reveal everything to the public.

"Unexpectedly, Alex and Hendry also revealed that they were involved and pleaded guilty. Moreover, the families of the victims came and asked for the case to be closed, because they have mengikhlaskan Abercio's departure for a long time. After all, the person who killed Cio was already getting the punishment he should have."

Roby screamed in frustration and then swept the contents of his desk to the floor. The adjutant was immediately silent, no longer continuing his report. He looked down in fear. Cold sweat began to flood the forehead and back of the sturdy man.

"Take me to the Mayor's office!"

"Bright, sir." The man came out of Roby's room and rushed to tell the driver.

Once the car is ready, Roby is escorted by his aide to the mayor's office. All the employees who worked immediately looked tense. The President's face looks very scary.

"Sir, please wait, Mr. Mayor is there ...." A young woman tries to stop Roby.

However, the 60-year-old man ignored him. Roby immediately kicked out the door of the mayor's office. The view inside Liam's room made Roby's blood boil even more. Liam was kissing one of the officers there. Roby instantly pulls Liam's shirt collar.

"Pa-papa!" Liam.

Roby releases his grip and lands a fist on the jaw of the son. Liam is now on the floor. Roby's adjutant didn't dare to break up. He knew very well how his boss behaved. If he is determined to prevent Roby, we can be sure he will be affected.

Roby kept landing punches on Liam's face. Now the handsome face of the man began to look red. The corner of his lips was bleeding. Only then did the aide pull the body of the President when Liam's condition was seen to be severe.

"Sir, please stop! You could kill Mr. Mayor!"

"This one deserves to die! He ruined all the work I've been doing all this time!" shouted Roby with unstoppable anger again.

"I know. But, please hold your emotions, sir."

Roby pulled his adjutant towards the sofa. He also received a bottle of mineral water that was given to him. After drinking the water, Roby's emotions began to drop.

On the other hand, Liam was still lying on the floor. A tear fell down the man's cheek. A regret now loomed over his heart. He regrets being born Roby's son. The most selfish and loudest man he ever knew.

Shortly thereafter, the entire room was shocked by the arrival of several people. Slowly Liam got up from the floor and rubbed the blood on the corner of his lips.

"What are you guys doing here for?"
