Chapter seven: Regret

Manhattan, New York City, USA.

17.34 P.M.

A man stands in front of a large window, showing the view of the city that is orange because the sun is already on the western horizon. Immediately drowned himself for having completed his task. His hand held the glass filled with whiskey liquid then downed it with one gulp to the toilet. He walked over to a small table with a bottle of whiskey and ice cubes. Returning to pour the whiskey into the glass and put ice cubes into it. His gaze returned to the beauty of the city decorated with towering skyscrapers.

"Sir here's a report on Ms. Linzy's activities." A man's voice ripped his daydream. The essence is based on the map that Axel brought.

"We're going Axell." Sean received the file and then left with the document and his coat hanging. Followed by his loyal right hand.

As long as he walked down the hallway of his office after exiting the elevator, he was already the center of attention. All the female employees looked at him with varying expressions. From starting to look amazed, adoring, wild, even fantasizing with his body. Sean with a flat face without expression did not answer every greeting his employees threw to him. He's been in Manhattan for two weeks working on his new project here, but his mind is still on Linzy in London.

London City, United Kingdom

18.05 P.M.

Zee just finished with his Aesthetic club. Lately, he has been quite busy because his club will hold an art gallery exhibition. And he holds a fairly important role, requiring him to be always present every meeting held by his club. Zee walks while playing her phone opening her chat app with Kyra. After receiving a message from Kyra who said that she was already in her apartment. Zee eventually gets into his car without waiting for Kyra, who he thinks is still on campus.

"Dam!" Someone waved his hand at him who was in front of the car door. Zee closed the car door again and waved his hand and replied to Aidan.

"Hi, Athan!" greet Zee is friendly to Athan who is also with Aidan. Athan replied with a smile.

"Go home by yourself?" ask Aidan after he gets in front of him. Zee nodded in response.

"Aidan want to come to the apartment too?" ask Zee. He had wanted to go home soon and soak in warm water because he was tired all day.

"That's right, I still have unfinished work. How if you are in Athan aja anterin, you look like that soy sauce," said Aidan worried about the look of Zee's face that looks tired.

"Didn't worry, Athan's father might have a job, too" Zee refused to feel bad for Athan.

"My schedule is empty after this Zee, don't worry. Let me drive you." Athan raised his voice to reply to the words of Zee and Aidan which he slightly caught his conversation.

"That's it!" exclaim Aidan chimed. "You don't have much to think! Come home, I'll go first, Zee. Yea! The dude!" Aidan says goodbye to the two while patting Athan on the shoulder and then goes to his car.

Athan and Zee sit in a car with an awkward atmosphere enveloping the atmosphere inside. No one said a word either Zee or Athan. All that is heard is the sound of the car engine. Usually they are four or three with Kyra or Aidan. Just this time they were sitting together without Kyra or Aidan in their midst thus making the unusual atmosphere awkward.

"Zee, are you hungry?" athan asked finally breaking the silence.

"No, sorry, Athan I just want to get home. Are you hungry?" Zee asked back.

"Not really. well I'll speed up the journey." Athan is back.

"If you're hungry, you can stop by our apartment for a snack as a sign of my gratitude." The car arrived at the basemant apartment. Athan turned off his car engine after parking his car. Zee took off the seal and opened the car door.

"Zee..." Athan's voice stopped Zee from opening the car. His attic focused on looking at Athan who seemed to want to say something.

"Yes Athan, what's wrong?" tanya Zee waits for the continuation of Athan's speech.

"I. I like you, Zee," Athan said quietly without looking at Zee who was suddenly stiff.

Whahuh? Since when? Why did it arrive? How's my? Questions floated in his brain.

"Do you like me too?" athan asked again after a few seconds of not hearing Zee make his voice.

"I like you too." Athan's smile expanded, he was now facing towards Zee who was bowing his face.

"Can you be my girlfriend?" athan asked continuing with a pleased expression.

"I'm sorry, Athan" said Zee, who looked at Athan in the face this time.

Athan sighed then turned to look ahead. "You don't have to apologize, I understand." He got out of his car and left Zee.

Zee rested his head for a few seconds. A heavy breath came out of his mouth. Finally he exited the car walking towards the elevator with a shunt step and pressed the 15 button towards the floor of his apartment. He entered the apartment lethargic.

"Hi Zee!" kyra is in front of the television.

"Hi Kyra," he answered listlessly.

Kyra looked at Zee who walked nonchalantly into her room until the door closed.

Zee, Kyra, and Aidan are in Cafeteria after the sound of a break bell ringing out on campus.

Aidan and Kyra look at Zee who looks gloomy two weeks since the return of Zee who was escorted by Athan. Something must have happened between the two.

"Come, emm.. Where's Athan?" kyra asks open her voice, deliberately talking about Athan to lure Vee.

"She was busy, "Aidan replied, giving information about Athan.

Their guess is Zee shot Athan but was rejected. But Zee until now did not tell it, unless he was fished. He was still focused on his food, seemingly unconcerned about the conversation.

"Zee.." call Kyra to touch Zee's shoulder which makes her look at Kyra asking what's going on with her face.

"Lo rejected Athan?" kyra asked starkly which made Aidan glare at her. Zee shook his head. Kyra and Aidan looked at each other again and looked at Zee.

"I refuse Athan" said Zee as if answering his second question.

"What?!" both of them were in disbelief.

"Don't Zee like Athan?" ask Aidan who has controlled his shock.

"Yes, I like Athan but only as a friend." Zee answered weakly.

"Think maybe! Zee, you like Athan but you're not sensitive to your own feelings and interpret those feelings as liking to friends!" kyra said angry and upset with her best friend.

Obviously they know and believe that Zee likes Athan. But because Zee is so lousy with his name feeling makes him misinterpret. Kyra and Aidan let out a frustrated sigh. Zee just continued eating it uninspiredly.

Zee rolled his body over the bed. Now he feels what is called regret. He recalled Kyra's words in the cafeteria that day.

'We'll see in a month if you still haven't moved on from Athan, fix lo likes him!'

And now he could only regret his words. After Athan expressed his feelings, he and Athan did not meet again until now the semester break. Zee has no activities during the holidays. All he spent was hibernating in his room. Kyra goes with Aidan for a date, while she laments her regretful fate. I don't know how many times he sighed again while staring at the sky of his apartment room.
