Hunting Kabane

When Ryan had read the information regarding the mission given the Reincarnation Room's controlling system, Ryan suddenly felt like he was falling into the air. Ryan's eyes began to distort. Ryan's head was in a lot of pain seeing this distortion.

After a little calm, Ryan started to look around. "What the fuck!? Why is everything I see filled with lines!?"

Rian was shocked by the active Mystic Eye of Death Perception. Although everything he saw was a line on the surface, Rian could still see his surroundings normally. He calmed down a little after taking a few deep breaths.

Right now, Rian was in an old-looking house. This house looks like a Japanese model house. But there are no tatami here, there are only wooden planks that cross into a square surrounding the kiln. On top of the kiln, there is an iron pot of water being heated. Looking at all that, Ryan felt he was living in the Edo period. 

However, the vision Ryan had now slightly damaged the atmosphere. Walls, earth, fire, teapots, and smoke from firewood all have lines that collide like graffiti. Rian could also see this world on the verge of destruction. There were almost a lot of lines cut around him. With just a little touch, Ryan could easily destroy this world. 

Over time, Ryan became increasingly uncomfortable. "It is fitting that Ryougi Shiki and Tohno Shiki cannot bear to use these eyes for long periods of time."

He began to remember how the Mystic Eye of Death Perception user controlled his powers. Tohno Shiki can't disable his Mystic Eye. He had to wear special glasses called Mystic Eye Killer to seal his eyes.

Ryougi Shiki can activate and deactivate his eyes as he wishes. However Ryougi Shiki can do so after some time adapting and also receiving instructions from someone. "Can I do the same as Ryougi Shiki? Okay, I'll try it first."

Ryan closed his eyes. "Closed!" Ryan said the word while imagining he placed a seal on his eyes.

Slowly, Ryan opened his eyes. Ryan's pupils were no longer blue, but they were back to normal to black. Around him, no more lines appeared. Rian breathed a sigh of relief seeing this positive result. "Haah~ I can finally see normally."

Rian tried to reexamine his control. This time, he did so without closing his eyes. "Open!" Just then, Ryan's pupils turned icy blue with a rainbow corona surrounding him. The world that Rian saw also became filled with lines.

"It looks like I managed to control it, hahhahaha .. hahahaha .. closed!" Rian's eyes returned to normal after Rian said it.

"It seems, my Mystic Eye of Death Perception is more likely to resemble Ryougi Shiki's rather than Tohno Shiki's." As Rian was pondering, suddenly the wooden door of this old house opened.

"Hey you, stranger! Why are you still here?" Asked one of the men in Samurai-style clothes. The two men who entered were seen carrying katana swords on their waists.

 Seeing this, Ryan immediately became alert and prepared to finish his knife. But the reaction of the two Samurai was really underestimating Ryan and acting as if he saw nothing. For them, the degree of Samurai is higher than that of ordinary citizens. Especially foreigners coming from outside the walls.

"I didn't think you were lazing. Even the sound of your laughter was so loud that it sounded out!"

"Watch up at the city gates! Or you won't get any food!" The second Samurai.

'Keeping the city gates? Why should I look after him?' As Ryan was confused by all of this, the information from the Reincarnation Room entered his head.

Ryan's words made the atmosphere suddenly become silent. The two samurai looked terrified when they heard the word 'Kabane'. Ryan recalled the setting of the Kabaneri anime The Iron Fortress that he had briefly watched.

Kabaneri The Iron Fortress is set in 1860s Japan. In this era, the industrial revolution has spread. So many countries are already implementing steam-based technology. But, all that changed when the figure of a bloodthirsty monster suddenly appeared.

Kabane is a bloodthirsty monster that comes from the rise of a dead human. They rise from the dead and become savages. Unlike the ordinary zombies in the movies, the physical strength of the Kabane is very strong. They can't be killed unless their hearts are destroyed. However, there is a membrane that covers the heart of the Kabane. This membrane is as strong as iron so it is very difficult to penetrate.

With such an advantage, Kabane became hard to kill. They quickly spread out and destroyed many cities. With his instinct of always thirsting for blood, Kabane has killed countless people. Once a human is bitten by a Kabane, the human will become infected and will gradually transform into a Kabane.

To prevent more casualties, the Shogunate government that controlled Japan built an iron wall that protected the cities as well as their citizens. They called the city sheltering behind the iron wall a station. These stations are the last hope humans can survive the Kabane attack.

After Ryan recalled the setting of the story from Kabaneri The Iron Fortress, Ryan became a little unsettled. 'Based on the information from the Reincarnation Room, I was now at Aragane Station, which was also the number 2 main mission. Based on the anime story, this station will fall and be invaded by Kabane. I don't know when the tragedy will happen. Yet I must be prepared to face that bloodthirsty undead!"

Thinking of the future that Ryan had to go through, he then rubbed the knife on his waist. 'Can an ordinary knife kill Kabane? But with these eyes, there is nothing I cannot kill!'

"Living life? Are they really that hard to kill? I can't wait to test the Mystic Eye of Death Perception." Ryan muttered with a smile. He was really impatient to hunt as well as test the strength of his eyes. Ryan then went out following the two Samurai towards the city gate.

Under the leadership of the two samurai, Ryan slowly walked down the street. Ryan felt uncomfortable because he became a spectacle of local people. How not, the outfit Ryan was wearing was a blue long-sleeved collar shirt. This shirt was the one he used before he died. People have never seen such clothes.

A few minutes later, the three of them arrived at the city gate. There, Ryan saw many Samurai pacing around. However, they were not all carrying katana swords, but rather a projectile weapon called Steam Gun.

Steam Gun is a rifle that uses steam energy to fire bullets. A Backpack Engine is needed as a steam generator. Backpack Engine is connected to the rifle and make the steam push the bullet to be fired without the need for gunpowder.

"Can you give me a gun?" rian asked while showing his empty hand.

"That's none of our business. If you want a gun, buy it yourself! If a kabane appears on the city wall, you must beat it back. If you let the kabane escape, then the first person to die is you!" Then, the two Samurai left Ryan.

"Even they didn't give me the Steam Gun? What if the kabane climbed up the wall? Do I have to jump down and hit the kabane that's trying to climb?" Ryan can only resign to this arbitrary treatment.

Ryan then began to stand guard over the steel wall. Rian saw the entire Samurai standing guard over the wall putting on a tense face. They all looked in the same direction, the forest. In the forest, the shadows of humans walking stagger

Ryan looked around. He realized that no samurai was watching him. Ryan then quietly slipped down from the steel wall. As Ryan leapt towards the tree near the wall, Ryan slipped and fell.

"OK, it's time to hunt kabane, hehehehe .." Ryan immediately used the knife on his waist and sliced the palm of his left hand. Blood started to flow from Ryan's wounds. He then tore his shirt to cover the wound on his hand so as not to get infected.

At once, from a distance many kabanes were lured with the smell of blood from Ryan. Ryan then hid in the bushes while continuing to lurk.

A man in torn clothes staggered. The man's skin was pale gray. On his chest, his heart glowed yellowish orange. The heart is covered in a membrane that resembles a root running around the chest area.

"So this is kabane?"

As Ryan muttered, the kabane looked straight at Ryan and sounded like a beast. "Graaaa"

Seeing the kabane approaching him, Ryan still acted calm. Slowly, Ryan's eyes turned blue. When the Mystic Eye of Death Perception is active, Ryan can see graffiti-like lines on the kabane's body. "Only the dead have no lines. But kabane's not a dead man, they're alive!" Rian then ran straight into the kabane.

When Ryan was near the kabane, the kabane's hand tried to catch Rian. Quickly, Rian cut the line on the kabane's hand.

The kabane's hands were directly on the ground. Dark red blood came out from the arm that Ryan cut off. "Graaaaa"

Ryan's attack was quick. This is the advantage of AGI with 6 points. Not stopping there, Ryan then turned his body around. The knife in his hand turned into a flash of light and cut off the two kabane feet easily.

Without hesitation, Rian then directly pierced the heart of the kabane.
