I didn't hear anything in a few days. I think after the five million came out, like Nathan said he'd try not to put me in danger. The man who will communicate with Arthur Kulkov.
But it's none of my business anymore. And I believe it's none of Tyson Callaway's business. I didn't pay attention to him a few times he called. Nathan is a government agent operating in secret. Outside he's like a mobster and a criminal, but the truth is he's working with the government. If Tyson Callaway doesn't move away from this, his career will end tragically.
"Do you have any information for me?" Apparently he was still trying to dig up information a few days later.
"I told you I don't want to be involved in anything else about the Russian case, what you really want."
"I want to give you money if you can give me information."
"My answer is clear if so, I don't have any information for you. I'm busy, don't call me anymore. I want to live a quiet life as an auditor and not get involved with the Russian mafia."
Was he satisfied with that, I guess to my knowledge all along, I guess not. But again I don't care about him. He wants to ask me anyhow my answer is not to know
"You're gonna release Dimitroff?" I was curious and asked Nathan how the fate of the son of the important Russian official was.
"The pay will be great, for such an important person I will ask for two three people as an exchanger and the negotiations will go a long way, there is no way the federal government can release it easily..." As I thought, the stakes are very large the son of an important person in the ranks of the government that might mean two to three people and they arrested two agents.
Two weeks later I finally received a call from Mr. Reed's.
"Kate, sir, your stuff. You're called back to NY..." Finally my chance to get back to NY came too.
"Sir, you're already Division Head." I don't know yet because I haven't received any news.
"Of course, it was actually two weeks ago officially. I have a direct assignment for you once you're ready to work. But much has to be done in the transfer. I signed your appointment..." That coincided with Tyson's arrival two weeks ago.
"Tyson Callaway knows Sir?" I hope not, at least I have the element of surprise to appear in front of him and make him silenced by his arrogance.
"Not yet, he just knows I made the decision to release you from the Garcia Int case. What do you want to do, you want me to tell him or you want to surprise him after your return?"
"I want to surprise him." I smiled broadly now, the time had finally come for me to stand on equal footing with the person who felt himself to be that top person.
"I know you're gonna say that, come back and I'm gonna set up your room tag on my desk when you get back. It's gonna be epic..." Mr. Reed knows what I'm thinking.
"Thank you Sir."
And I finally went back to NY two weeks later, because everything in Garcia was ready and I returned it to my mediator. I told Nathan that I was going back to NY.
"We'll meet in NY if so, I miss you. We very rarely get to see each other for a few months, it's really excruciating..."
"I miss you too." Finally we were able to meet more often after this month only twice to be able to meet because far apart he turned out to set a new office there because there is a new business in NY and it is easier to reach Europe and Asia that relates to his secret work through the east coast of course.
"May the weekend come soon, can't wait to see you again..." He laughed a little at the end.
"I'm not going anywhere, dear Kate. I told you, I only like people I know and I'm not going anywhere...."
"But if you're left out for too long, ... Someone will tease you." He was too handsome not to be teased.
"I'm creepy, nobody has the guts to tease me except for a secret agent..."
"You're insinuating me, aren't..." He laughed crisply.
"Ehmm okay,..."
And finally I went back to NY, saw her this time after three weeks we didn't meet. I saw him at the exit, he actually picked me up that afternoon. He took the time to pick me up.
"Hi's handsome." I wanted to run to his arms but the suitcase I was carrying was quite large, I walked with his warm hands while carrying my suitcase. She smiled with my warm greeting. She didn't answer him just hugged me tightly and kissed me on the cheek. Makes me feel like he really misses me. I miss being in his arms.
"I miss you, you're back now. That five-hour drive sometimes feels so far away and so long." She whispered to me, It's so sweet, I don't think I need to doubt anything about her. True work makes him will not bring strangers to his neighborhood.
"I'm back..." He held my hand after taking over my suitcase.
"We're going to dinner?" I'm nodding. "When did you get to work?"
"Tuesday, I need to clean up my new apartment rental. The old apartment I took off."
"I'll help you clean it up tomorrow, but tonight you're staying with me." I smiled and took his hand.
"How's Arthur Kulkov's case you've solved it?" I asked her when we were alone now in the car, while her bodyguards just followed us incongruously in civilian clothes and different vehicles.
"Ohh, I've washed my hands and cleaned myself."
"Ohh how?"
"Look, I just wanted to tell him I don't know anything and have handed it to the federal government, that five million in penalties has bothered me. He knew the only way to get his cousin was to bargain with the U. S. federal government, I had nothing to do with him..."
"Ohhh, ..." True too, he must maintain his reputation as a businessman and his evil mafia title.
"So that's sorted out, we're not going to be chased by KGB agents anymore?"
"There's no point in them chasing me. Don't talk about work, oh yeah, your ex-friends still bother you."
"You mean Callaway, no, I guess the fee he just investigated up to the Chicago incident, after which he couldn't do anything else."
"You're right, what can he do with that only father's connection. But if he bothers you again, I'll make sure he gets his lesson here."
