We met at a restaurant we used to visit in Milan. It feels like it's thrown into the past. It's a shopping mall, we love to walk here, and we usually just walk, talk and eat.
I first met him in Milan. He was also at the same campus as me, his family was a chain business owner of hotels and restaurants in Spain and Italy. He took a short course here in his youth. And that's how we met.
I saw him sitting at the restaurant table. Seeing him again after almost half a year we didn't meet it was mixed.
He waved at me. His smile was calm as usual. I miss him even though I know I can't do it anymore.
"Ciao (Hi/Hi), ..." I greeted him short while smiling and sitting in front of him.
"You good?" He's observing me.
"Sure, how about you."
"I'm good. I was a few days surprised to find your story on the internet. You're really fine. I can help if you want." Apparently he was looking for the news.
"No, I can handle it. There's a lawyer helping me."
"You're up against Gianni? He's not an ordinary man's name. You're sure it's okay."
"I've got a back-up guy who's Gianni's opponent." He was silent for a moment to hear my answer. We ordered our dinner menu. While waiting for him to continue the conversation.
"That's surprising, ... You know a politician?" I smile.
"Yes I actually met him like luck when I thought I was out of options."
"It seems this help from close people?" I laughed, Javier guessed it straight away.
"Good friend, just think of it that way." I can't give him details.
"I'm really glad to hear that. Your father's ensnared? May I know the whole story?" I don't mind telling you what happened to us.
"I feel guilty about causing you trouble lately. I'm sorry." I shook my head while smiling.
"Forget it, you know I'm actually expecting our farewell to be okay. Even though I said something bad to you. I really hope you get your happiness, ..." I tried to smile even though my eyes were hot.
"If you need anything, you can ask me anything. Don't worry about Silvia, she's sometimes just good at talking." I'm laughing a little.
"I came to see you today to actually give you this. Our divorce papers." I looked at him and received the envelope. It hurts but I don't think there's anything I can do to fix it either.
