The POV Kate
I got home it turns out that Nathan's car has arrived first, Nathan has arrived first, usually I always arrive early. This time he was the first.
I'm going to Italy at the end of next week, about five days before Christmas and I'll be there until the end of the new year. So I'm still buying some ingredients for Daisy.
"Daisy, help me put this in." I went straight into the kitchen, I brought some groceries on my way home.
"Yes Miss..." I carry groceries while looking at the cell phone. Put it on the kitchen marble table.
"Darling you've come home?" A voice foreign to me. I looked in front of me, Nathan's mother was in the kitchen wearing an apron, she looked at me with a smile. I looked at him.
"Mr... You here?" He hugged me who was holding. Still with one bag of groceries I haven't put. Did Nathan tell him about us?
"Ahh I'm only here for a day, visiting friends. Tomorrow I have to go back to Chicago again. But I want to cook a little for you. Your kitchen is full, I love to find a full fridge full of cooking ingredients.
"Ahh me..." I wanted to say I should have made him something.
"I made Lemon Roasted Chicken, and Pasta, Daisy's meat and Salad seemed to fit in." He looks happy to be in the kitchen. He must be an expert chef. I can only make a few simple dishes, Daisy is an expert here and I love her cooking.
"Carina you're having a hard time coming home." Nathan, who had changed his home t-shirt, smiled, kissing my cheek in front of his mother, making me feel awkward.
"Madam I didn't know you were coming, I should have prepared something for you." I felt it was rude to have him prepare everything for us, why didn't Nathan tell me about his mother's arrival.
"Nathan didn't even know I suddenly showed up at his office. I don't want to keep you busy, you just went shopping for groceries?" I put down my grocery bag and Daisy set it up.
"Oh yeah, we're just going to start going next week. Nathan and I would rather eat at home on weekdays."
"Mom said you made our house look like it had a life." Our home, my heart warms to see the word Nathan uses.
"It's Christmas, I think, the house without Christmas decorations is less fitting. So Daisy and I busied ourselves a little bit yesterday." I tried to talk to him. I hope he's not mad I set up Nathan's house.
"You're right, the house without Christmas decorations is not a house. But now this place really feels like home. Your houses..." Nathan's mother smiled, and I smiled with relief at his acceptance. Your house, she accepted me in this house with Nathan. It was a relief to feel her smile expanding for me.
"Let's eat, you must be hungry. Nathan was wandering around the kitchen. The chicken just ripened." He opens his apron while Daisy has prepared the dinner table. Just take out the grilled chicken.
Nathan's mother was very friendly at dinner. I felt like he was actually accepting me and slowly I felt like I could have a good conversation with him that night without being awkward.
"Ahh sometime you have to go to Chicago, you've never been to my house. It's supposed to be Christmas, but Nathan said you have to go to Italy. He said he would be there in the new year. It's unfortunate..."
"Yes, Mom and Dad are there."
"Next time you have to take the time with Nathan okay."
"Good Mam."
Dinner ended after we were all tired of talking. He seemed very friendly, and friendly, making me feel accepted and given permission with Nathan.
"He likes you. That is undeniable. But since my parents never interfered with who I chose, we were considered adults to determine what was good for us."
"He likes you... He likes you to make this house your home. Decorate this house, until it provides cookies. He likes you to eat home-cooked meals and keeps me coming back for dinner at home together if we can. Because he and my dad were, Dad always loved home-cooked food. He likes the same people as him."
"Ahh so it turns out."
"Do you like what I do. Maybe you feel decorating the house is too much of a hassle."
"No, I like it, it's your house anyway, our house..." He rubbed my waist, grabbed me and kissed me in the closing of his words. I breathe in his kiss. Feeling needed and adored.
"Our house..." I was thinking maybe he would propose to me soon. He is not anti-marriage. She was married to Amanda. I remember her reaction at Guilio's wedding she was smiling happily when I received her flower toss.
"Yes, this is our home. Do you like that idea?" He's lookingat me. "Do you like having to face me every day. Maybe later we will fight, have problems but we will try to get through it together. Everyone says it's not easy... But this will still be our home." Is this a proposal? Now I'm pounding looking into his eyes.
"I want to be with you." He sighed hearing my answer, perhaps relieved. But I now thumped at him, waiting for his next words. For whatever reason I don't need fancy dinners, over-the-top events, unnecessary surprises. Just tell me now...
He was still thinking, out of my eyes. Maybe he hasn't bought the ring yet. Maybe he thought I wanted something well prepared. He's not gonna do it now...
"There's something you want to say..." He looked at me, unsure. He asked her so clearly. "Say it now." He looked at me who was so hoping he said those powerful words.
"I don't have the ring yet, Carina. What should I say." I laughed and hugged her, she was so honest, I got into her arms. I was so excited that he could be so honest with me.
"The answer is ..yes, I will marry you." I looked up at him and he looked at me in disbelief. "I don't need the ring right now, I just want you to say it." In response she hugged me again this time so tightly that I was out of breath.
"I destroyed the proposal?"
"No."
"I just want you to say it. That's a huge relief. It doesn't take a lot of romantic events, it's already romantic."
"I haven't bought the ring yet, but Mom left the family pendant for her future daughter-in-law. It is usually worn during the wedding ceremony. It was given from my grandmother. I'm giving it to you now, because I've met you and have no objections whatsoever to you..." I laughed at his backup plan. "I'll get you a little bit." He got up and got something from a vault that was in another closet. And back to picking up a little black box. He opened it and found a round coin-like pendant with a print of an emblem.
"Would you marry me..." I laughed a little when he said it. Maybe he felt he needed to say it.
"Yes, yes and yes. Definently yes!" I nodded enthusiastically.
"And this becomes yours cunning spy." I'm laughing now. And when he suddenly mentioned spies.
"That's very valuable, thank you." That night his mother came to me. It turned out that she was waiting for her mother's approval, once her mother accepted me she said it without a burden.
"You are more valuable." I smiled at him and hugged him tightly.
I didn't expect this gangster to be my husband any minute.
