Gwen sat down grimly. His blank gaze, glued to the marble floor of the room. She did not know that today was her husband's birthday. In his heart, he condemned his stupidity because of his immature attitude in addressing the misunderstanding that had occurred between him and Kayden.

She should not have left her husband. Supposedly, he waited for Kayden to come home and ask for his explanation first. However, Gwen did not do so because jealousy had enveloped her.

Now, he's sorry. Taking a deep breath, he had to think hard in order to find the best way to apologize to Kayden.

“Since Kayden fell in love with you, he forbade Ava from coming to the office anymore, and would rather meet him outside if just to celebrate his birthday.” Rainer tried to explain while Gwen gasped to raise her head. “You know, Gwen? Kayden did it all just so you wouldn't misunderstand him. He doesn't want you to hear cheap gossip about him as a result of all the employees talking about his relationship with Ava.”

“But you can help Kayden straighten out the gossip?”

Rainer smiled cynically. “For what? Let them find out for themselves. After all, now they know who the great mistress Kim really is.”

“You're selfish, Rai,” blow Gwen's mad. “You only care about yourself.”

Rainer laughed loudly before saying, “I was selfish before because my own father created Rainer Kim like this. You don't know what it's like to be an exiled stepson in his father's family.”

“Tapi—”

“I'm sick of hearing everyone admire Kayden. I'm also sick of hearing the name Kayden is always proud of my father and his family,” Rainer exclaimed. “And foolishly I was too late when I realized that Kayden was the one who turned out to give me the love of a brother and a father instead. He protected me like he was protecting Ava. Kayden has always protected his younger siblings,”.

Once again, Gwen was filled to hear Rainer's heartbreaking story. Behind his selfish attitude, his late father caused him to distinguish his affection for his children.

“Then, how is Kayden and Valerie's relationship? Aren't they getting married?” Gwen asked to change the subject. He said he no longer needed to hear Rainer Kim's tragic story.

“Valerie?” Rainer's a little stiffened. “Valerie has forgotten him now,” he said. “It was just a silly monkey love towards Kayden,” he explained. “And previously Kayden did often tell me, but I did not want to hear it,” he added. “But it hurts so much, if Valerie is going to turn away from me to Kayden. And I guess in the end, Kayden must have been pretty rude when he made Valerie aware when she lied to the press that Kayden was going to marry her. But,” Rainer sighed, “that time I didn't want to deal with him anymore. So, Valerie went to her mother's house in paris, and we didn't see each other again until Kayden dragged her here when she realized what I was trying to do to you.”

Gwen's jaw hardened, she did not accept Rainer's treatment. “Say, Rai,” asked slowly, “ at that time, would you still marry me if Valerie didn't come back?”

Rainer's shoulders drooped in his brown leather jacket, and his head was slightly bowed. “I didn't cancel our wedding for Valerie's sake,” she said. “I did it because Kayden came to me, begging that I don't marry you.”

“Gosh ... That's right, Rai!” accuse Gwen of being angry. “You arranged your marriage with Valerie the same day you were supposed to marry me!”

Rainer's head jolted, a guilty hue creeping through his cheekbones. “I intend to leave Valerie at the altar, not you, Gwen ...”

And Rainer received a shocked look on Gwen's face with a self-deprecation ringing.

“I will indeed marry you,” Rainer admitted, “if Kayden did not come to me that morning with a face of despair and so hurt that I ..” He paused for a moment to gulp, then sighed tensely continuing, “You know, Gwen. Kayden revealed his entire heart while kneeling to me, begging me to let you go,” he said hoarsely. “And I have never felt so despicable in my entire life who was damned for forcing my brother to do that.”

Gwen was again taken aback by Rainer's explanation. His voice felt stuck in his throat. His chest tightened as if there was no air covering his lungs until he had trouble saying.

“He's got it, Rai ..” Og Gwen.

***

It took Gwen a long time to find Kayden because the man was not downstairs, even though she had already checked the rooms there one by one. Finally Gwen looked for him upstairs, in their private room and found Kayden asleep on the balcony chair.

Kayden seemed to have just finished bathing because Gwen saw her black hair that was still wet, and was wearing nothing but a white bathrobe. Exhausted, Gwen recalled Kayden saying earlier. Instantly he felt his heart pounding with sympathy because the husband had not felt the pain of falling asleep in the rattan chair.

Careful not to wake her, Gwen stood up while leaning against the balcony railing. The woman stood right in front of Kayden, taking a moment to take a loving look at the man while Kayden could not have known he was doing it.

This man loves her very much, inner Gwen. This man came to his own sister and begged her to let go of Gwen so that her sister canceled her marriage. This man loved her so much in his own way that he took over Gwen, marrying her so Kayden could have her to keep her.

Kayden wrapped Gwen in luxury, connecting her in the warmth of the man's affection. Kayden fought for him, humiliating himself for the sake of Gwen in the eyes of his friends. And finally the most beautiful thing of all, Kayden had risked his pride a second time by letting Rainer reveal the truth to Gwen.

The truth? Gwen hugged her own body so that she could embrace the precious truth tightly. A truth deserving of the truth as well in return, Gwen decided while standing there and just looking at her husband.

And suddenly Gwen remembered the last time she found Kayden sitting in a chair like this. It's just that the husband had not slept, just relax accompanied by a cup of his favorite cappuccino.

This made Gwen smile as she could still hear the echoes of her own teasing laughter as she breezed from the room wearing nothing but a Kayden shirt that was loose on her body.

With her hair disheveled due to the deeds of her husband devouring her that night, an expression of pure masculine satisfaction was plastered on Kayden's hard and handsome face.

“You look messy, Honey,” Kayden said as he chuckled.

“Just blame yourself, Kay. You made me like this,” Gwen said while pursing her lips so that it made Kayden anxious.

That beautiful thing happened a week ago. However, Gwen could still feel from every touch of Kayden as she pulled her hips closer. Once again, Gwen felt the warmth of Kayden's body embracing her, as if trying to give all of herself to Gwen.
