Aldrich had already gone downstairs, to down a few glasses of animal blood from Egbert's stockpile. Parker just finished checking on Annette. The condition of the woman still looks weak, her face was pale. Parker felt sorry to see it. Five years ago, at least that beautiful face was still smiling so brightly at her. But now, it was too dim and dark.
A waiter walked inside, carrying a bowl of warm porridge and a glass of water. Annette told her to just put it on the table and eat it later. The waiter did as Annette said and then immediately excused him.
Parker touches the empty bedside next to Annette lying down and asks politely, "May I sit here?"
Annette smiled, feeling a little funny with her formal voice, "Have sat down. Big brother need not be so formal with me" After all five years ago, he had even lived in a row with that man. So, Annette didn't want to get too stiff with him.
Parker smiled shyly, scratched his non-itchy nape and slowly sat on the edge of the bed, "So, five years ago you disappeared it was because you chose to go back to your vampire husband?"
Annette shook her head with her faint smile, "Not"
"..."
"I was in a hurry to get out of the house, because my vampire husband sent someone to bring me back to him. It's obvious I'm so scared. What if she takes my baby and separates us. So, I had no choice but to run away as fast as I could" Annette sighed heavily and gave her guilt-ridden gaze, "I'm sorry, because five years ago I had left without saying goodbye"
Parker smiled and shook his head softly, "No need to apologize. I understood your condition at that time. Then, how come you live in his castle now?"
"That's a long story. But for sure, I'm grateful that he didn't intend to separate me and Aldrich"
Parker nodded in understanding. Since Annette already said it was a long story, then he wouldn't ask her any further.
Looking at Annette's large pair of black eyes, it looked tired and sad. Someone who is deep, will definitely understand the unhappiness of the woman.
"I won't interfere with your life. But let me give you a little advice, don't let your vampire husband continue to suck your blood. After all you're his wife, not his prey" Parker still vividly remembers how pale Annette was last night. As if his thin body was lying stiff on the bed, it was no longer alive due to blood loss.
Annette momentarily became sobbed by what Parker had said. His eyelashes clenched, responding to the speech with an unexpressed emotion.
"Please love yourself more. Be a little louder and stern" he said, his eyes staring deep at the bottom of Annette's eyes hiding a thousand wounds, "That's all from me"
Annette took a sullen smile at her dry lips and gave Parker a meaningful look, "Thank you, sister. Your words sound quite meaningful to me" It's been a long time and I don't know when the last time he got someone to advise him meaningfully and sincerely.
Parker returned the smile with his wide, calm smile. Then he took out a few bags of medicine and put them on the bedside table, "That's some blood-boosting drugs and vitamins. Drink three times a day after meals"
"Em"
"You haven't had breakfast, have you?" Parker half-wakes up from the bed, picks up a bowl of warm porridge on the table, "Come, let me feed you" Then sits back firmly on the bedside, ready to feed Annette a few spoons of porridge.
"Ah, that's not necessary. I can eat it myself" Annette was embarrassed by the treatment. It's not that he's uncomfortable, it's just too awkward. After all, that man was someone who had saved him five years ago from committing suicide. They are not close friends who have shared some silliness and bitterness.
"..."
"Come on me like an older brother who's treating his sister well, hum?"
Annette felt so touched. The brother? It brought a sense of familial warmth that he never got "Eum" Nodding her later, timidly.
His attitude made Parker smile. But looking at him further, he felt so pity. In front of her is a real lonely woman.
Parker takes a spoonful of porridge and directs it to the front of Annette's mouth. Opening her mouth, Annette greeted her and ate her slowly. Bribes by mouth continue. Time seems to be going so slow. In silence, on the sidelines Annette tasted the soft porridge of her tongue. His eyes stared deep into Parker's eyes. He was able to clearly capture how the eyes were filled with deep words of pity on him.
"Don't look at me like that"
"Yes?"
"I feel so pathetic if you keep giving me that kind of look"
"..." - ".Parker blinked his eyes, presumably still not catching what Annette meant.
"Pity"
"..."
"That word is clearly written in your pair of eyes, does Parker know!" Annette tried to laugh. Although his eyes were dim, it was unable to remove the trace of deep sobriety.
The woman's laughter simply infected Parker, who also chuckled as she stirred the spoon of porridge in her hand, "Ah, is that obvious?"
"Eum" Nodded Annette, "It's very clear"
"Sorry I didn't mean—"
"It's okay. Come on, bribe me again.." Now Annette is feeling more free and not as awkward as before.
Parker returns to feed Annette. But in the middle of it, the somewhat careless Annette, unintentionally made some droplets of porridge soiled around her mouth. Annette was unaware of that, so she just continued to accept the bribe. Parker who saw it, put the spoon in the bowl. Then he reached out his hand, intending to clean it up for Annette.
But before his fingertips landed on the rim of those pale thin lips, a cold voice filled with deep pressure, appeared.
"Don't touch her!"
