The Love of a Father

Lily had finished her bath and was checking back on her college assignments. After feeling that there was nothing to change, he also tidied up his books and laid his body on the bed.

Lily closed her eyes and tried to sleep, but there was something so stuck in her heart that it was very difficult for her eyes to close. The shadow of Evan's face that looked so angry just kept coming to Lily's mind. Although she did not really understand why her father was so angry, Lily still felt guilty. There must have been something ominous he had done, albeit unintentionally.

Lily shuffled out of her bed, then got up. He came out of his room and went to his parents' second room.

Lily knocked on the door repeatedly, before her mother finally came to open the door.

"Lilly?" Carissa muttered when she found Lily standing at the door of her room.

"Ma, is Papa inside?" Ask Lily.

"Your father is in his study. What's up?" Carissa asked back.

"I want to see Papa..."

Carissa was silent for a moment. She could feel that Lily was currently very agitated.

"There's some hospital reports that your father should check." Carissa said later.

Currently Evan does occupy an important position in the hospital where he works, so not infrequently he will take part in every important activity of the hospital, and get reports regularly. While his hospital in Singapore still he managed with the help of the son of his Papa cousin. The two are running simultaneously and there are no obstacles so far.

"If I see Papa now, am I gonna interrupt?" Ask Lily again.

Carissa fell silent again and looked at Lily with a difficult feeling to describe.

"Maybe better wait until tomorrow morning. Go back to your room and get some rest." Carissa.

Lily was silent and looked rather disappointed.

"I don't think I'll be able to sleep until I see Papa." Lily nodded rather sadly.

Carissa let out her breath. He understood what his daughter was feeling right now. Since childhood Lily has been used to the affectionate treatment of Evan. If anyone scolded her, it was definitely Carissa. Never once did Evan say rude, let alone angry at Lily. If Lily made a mistake, Evan would only reprimand her, even then with very gentle words. So it's only natural that now his daughter is feeling very agitated.

"I want to apologize to Papa." Lily said again.

Carissa was stunned for a moment, then rubbed Lily's head gently. Let's say Lily was a wayward child, but she was actually very sensitive and responsible. No matter how small of a mistake he made, he would admit it and apologize immediately, despite even unintentional mistakes.

"Mama is going to the kitchen. Mama wants to make warm ginger milk for Papa. What if you deliver it?" Tawar Carissa's.

Lily's eyes immediately sparkled when she heard it.

Lily nodded as well.

"Yes, Ma. Let me just deliver it to Papa." Pleased speech.

Carissa smiled, then took Lily to the kitchen. He took the fresh milk from inside the refrigerator, then warmed it up and poured it into a glass. Carissa added ginger powder and also a little honey to add flavor. Finally, Carissa put the ginger milk into a tray and also put a cover on top of the glass.

"Now deliver this to your Papa. Mama's going to take a break." Said Carissa while giving the ginger milk to Lily.

Lily accepted it with a smile, then passed from Carissa's presence towards Evan's study. It's like that first door to Evan's study before he finally gets in there. It appears that his father was struggling on some documents and did not look at him.

"Papa, I brought some ginger milk for Papa. Please drink it." Said Lily while putting the ginger milk she carried onto Evan's desk.

Looking at Evan's face that looked still the same as when he was angry earlier, Lily's smile slowly faded. The girl stepped closer and closer to Evan with her face down.

"I'm sorry Lily, Pa. Lily didn't mean to make Papa worried and angry." He was right in front of Evan still while bowing his face.

Evan gasp. His daughter's tone sounded filled with regret. Not to mention when she called herself Lily, not me as usual. Evan immediately remembered Lily when she was a child. At that time, no matter how mischievous and wayward Lily was, her daughter looked so adorable that it made Evan powerless to scold her. And apparently, even this time Evan can not be angry any longer.

"Papa can punish Lily, but after that Papa don't be angry again, yes." Lily said again.

Evan again gasped. Requesting punishment after being deemed to have made a mistake. Isn't that Carissa's way of apologizing?

I don't want Evan to smile. Somehow Lily can often act like her Mama. Could all of Lily's behavior from childhood be a reflection of Carissa's behavior first?

"Come here." Pinta Evan is finally.

Lily lifted her face and looked at her Papa.

"Why shut up? Didn't you just say Papa can punish you?"

Lily was stunned for a moment, then stepped closer and closer to Evan.

"Here, Papa's shoulder massage." Said Evan while patting his shoulder.

Lily was stunned again. What he thought would be punished. It turned out to be just being told to massage the shoulders. After being behind Evan, Lily stretched out her hands and began to massage both of his shoulders.

Evan closed his eyes as he felt a massage from Lily's two hands. He took a long breath. The hand that was once very small is now much bigger and more powerful. His wife was right, Lily was no longer a child. He is an adult although Evan often tries to deny it.

"I'm sorry Papa..." Evan finally muttered.

Lily unconsciously stopped her massage.

"Papa shouldn't have scolded you like that. Papa must be so worried that he can't think clearly." Evan said again.

Lily was still speechless and digesting Evan's words.

"Papa always felt if you were Papa's little daughter that Papa had to protect at all times. Sometimes Papa forgets that now this little Papa's daughter has grown up."

Evan took his breath back.

"Why Papa always blocks every boy who wants to get close to you, it's because Papa doesn't want you to just play and feel hurt. But now Papa realizes that the thing you fear most is when you find happiness with others, and then you don't need Papa anymore..."

Lily gasped. Evan's words sounded so sad that it made Lily's heart hurt too. Lily involuntarily hugged her Papa tightly.

"Why does Papa think that? Lily will always need Papa. No matter how much Lily likes someone, but Lily will like Papa more."

"Lily will always love Papa whenever..."
