The Interaction of Two Men

After being satisfied with spilling all her grief, Lily finally exhausted and overslept. Albern covered the girl's body carefully. Occasionally, Lily's voice sounded. All Albern could do was sigh as he stared at Lily with sadness.

After a while, Albern pulled out his phone, then was seen contacting someone. After that, he sat back on the edge of the bed looking at Lily who was sleeping.

Albern's daydream was renewed because of a knock on the door of his inn room.

Soon Albern got up and opened the door. Seemingly standing behind the door were two people Albern had previously contacted, both of Lily's parents.

"Where's Lily?" carissa asked with a panicked face.

Albern did not answer. She only responds by removing her body from the doorway so that Carissa and Evan can see Lily's whereabouts on the bed.

"What have you done to him, Albern?" ask Carissa again in a somewhat angry manner. He directly barged into the inn room approaching the bed used by Lily. While Evan was still standing in front of Albern with a look of wrath. His fingers clenched with hardened jaws. It looked like the middle-aged man was ready to beat up Albern.

"I didn't do anything to Lily. She fell asleep from exhaustion after crying too much," Albern replied calmly.

Evan and Carissa were simultaneously looking at Albern with uncertain gazes.

"When we met earlier, Lily looked messed up. She cried while telling her sorrow. He also said some absurd things, so I brought him here to calm him down" Albern explained.

Carissa turned to look at Evan, and vice versa.

"Let Lily sleep for a while, Aunt Carissa, she seems to be very depressed. Maybe after resting, things will be much better." Albern added.

Carissa turned to look at Lily. He looked at his daughter's face carefully. Lily's nose was still flushed, while her eyes were also slightly swollen. It seems true that Lily cried a lot.

Carissa's heart suddenly became full. Never before has Lily come to this. Maybe parting with Albern was really difficult for him.

"We're here, now you can go. Thank you for taking care of Lily" Evan said later in a flat tone.

Albern did not move from where he stood.

"There's something important that I have to talk to Uncle, alone," Albern replied.

Evan looked at Albern for a moment, then looked at Carissa who was looking at Lily with a sad expression.

"Only the two of us, Uncle. Business between two men. I hope Uncle is willing if Uncle really loves Lily," Albern pinta again in a more firm tone.

"Alright, come!" Evan was finally ready. The middle-aged man turned his back first and stepped out of the place, followed by Albern. While Carissa only looked at the departure of the two with a sad look, hoping things did not get worse.

Albern and Evan finally sat on a park bench in the inn's courtyard. For the first time, the two men of different generations were sitting side by side.

"I love Lily so much, Uncle." Albern opened the conversation.

Evan did not answer. He simply responded by staring at Albern sharply.

"I felt really sick to see Lily crying like that," Albern muttered again with a sigh.

"What do you know about Lily?" asked Evan rather cynically.

"I know, the slightest thing about Lily, I know very well. Even I know all the things Uncle doesn't know, because I've loved him for a long time."

Evan fell silent again with an increasingly sharp look.

"But of course, my feelings mean nothing compared to the magnitude of Uncle's affection as a parent" Albern added.

"I know, what Uncle is doing right now is for Lily's good. I'd support any action Uncle would have if it was for Lily's good, even if I had to suffer myself."

Albern sighed for a moment, trying to neutralize his chest that was beginning to rumble.

"I'll get Lily to agree to continue her education abroad as Uncle wants. He will also definitely succeed in achieving his dreams and become an extraordinary figure. If at that time he forgets me and chooses to be with someone else, then I will let him go. But if he still comes at me, then there is no reason for Uncle not to bless us. If even then Uncle still does not approve of our relationship, then I will make sure to snatch Lily from Uncle, by any means!"

Albern looked at Evan who was also looking at him sharply, then got up from his seat.

"That's all I want to say, I'm sorry," said Albern as he passed leaving Evan still speechless.
