Albern and Lily

Albern and Lily
Stone Sand

Lily waved her hand and looked at Albern's car which was slowly disappearing from her sight. The smile never faded from the girl's face. Good things kept coming to him from this afternoon. Starting from Zaya who asked him to call with the call of mama, Albern who was so attentive to him at the dinner table, to offers of help from the man when Lily had trouble doing college assignments.

Lily's chest felt full and almost exploded from the feeling of happiness. Although he could not conclude that Albern also had the same feelings for her because of all of those things, but at least, Albern did not push her away. That was more than enough for Lily now. He was sure that over time Albern would realize that they had been destined for each other.

All those beautiful thoughts kept spinning inside Lily's head until she walked into the house. But then, his smile instantly disappeared upon finding the middle-aged man who was now standing while looking at him intently.

"Lad..." Lily muttered somewhat fearfully. Lily's whole life, only this time did she see Evan's face so unfriendly to her.

"What time is this, Lily? Why just got home?" Evan's voice was even more terrifying in Lily's ears.

"Job's just done, Pa..." Lily gave an origin reason that just flashed through her mind.

"Lied!"

Lily slightly closed her eyes hearing Evan snapping. Suddenly his heart became faint. He wondered what he had done wrong until his father became angry.

"Sorry, Pa. I actually had dinner at Kak Zi's house. Mama Zaya has informed Mama."

"Mama Zaya?"

"Aah?" Lily's release mentions Zaya Mama in front of her Papa. But isn't Zaya the adoptive sister of her own Papa, why does the middle-aged man look unhappy when Lily calls him Mama.

"That's...Aunt Zaya asked me to call her Mama..."

"But she's not your mother. He's Papa's sister, so it's been right all this time you called him Auntie." Said Evan again with a tone that still sounded unfriendly.

"Y-yes, Pa. I get it." Lily lowered her face. Although he still did not understand why his father was angry like this, but he chose not to argue.

"Why come home from Albern, don't you ask Papa to pick you up?" Ask Evan again.

"Eh, that's.tadi Mama..I mean Auntie Zaya told me to go home delivered by Kak Al, so I didn't call Papa." Lily answered with a stern answer.

Evan seemed to let out a sigh and looked even more annoyed.

"Other times you can't get too close to Albern like you were. You may be close to Zivanna, but not to Albern. If you ever meet again, you must keep your distance from her." Evan said again.

Lily knitted her brows and raised her face to look towards Evan.

"Why is that, Pa?" Lily asked, not accepting. He was really wondering why his father was always unhappy whenever he interacted with Albern.

"Why does Papa always forbid me to be close to Kak Al? Isn't Brother Al also Aunt Zaya's son? Is it wrong Kak Al until Papa does not like it so much? Al's sister's good, Pa..."

"Lilly!" Once again Evan snapped at his beloved daughter.

Lily immediately shut up and looked down again.

"You even dared to argue with Papa because of that child. You said he was good?"

Lily was still shaking with her face down.

"But he is good..." Lily muttered to herself. Evan clearly heard that and became even more angry.

"Lily, Papa answered honestly. Are you in a relationship with Albern?" Evan asked with a hardened face.

Lily shook her head quickly.

"No." The answer.

Evan looked at Lily's face fixed, as if he wanted to judge his daughter was lying or not.

"Then, do you like Albern?" Ask Evan again.

"Huh?" Lily raised her face again and was somewhat flabbergasted.

"Papa's answer, do you like Albern?" Repeat Evan with a slightly raised tone.

Lily looked frightened and was unable to say anything. She was so shocked. All his life, only this time Papa was angry and snapped at him repeatedly.

"Darling, what are you doing?" Suddenly a middle-aged female voice sounded from the direction of the middle room of the house. Carissa looked, Mama Lily came closer.

"Why are you scolding Lily like this? He just got home." Carissa said again as she grabbed Lily's trembling shoulder with both hands.

"Don't you see he's scared like this?"

Evan was throwing his breath rough.

"She's just coming home at this hour, how could I not be angry." Evan said in a lower tone.

"But he went to do his college work. Didn't you drive her to Zivanna's house. He was late because Zaya asked him to have dinner there. After that, Lily was immediately ushered home without stopping by anywhere. So where's Lily's fault until you're this angry?" Ask Carissa again.

Evan silently did not answer. He does not know how to convey to his wife if his concerns stem from the figure who drove Lily herself. Evan's feelings became erratic when he saw Lily who looked so close to Albern. The figure that Evan judged to be very dangerous even since he was a boy first.

"Lily, get in your room. Take a shower and get some rest." Carissa told Lily.

Lily nodded and passed from before her parents.

While Evan looked back to throw a rough breath while looking the other way, trying to avoid the gaze of Carissa's eyes.

Carissa touched Evan's soft back. She knew her husband was feeling uneasy.

"I don't want him to get hurt, Carissa..." Evan finally muttered. He spoke while still looking the other way.

"I'm afraid our daughter is close to Albern and has a special feeling. He is not a simple man. It won't be easy for our daughter until she's in a relationship with the Brylee family's son. Even Zaya used to have to suffer for seven years before being recognized as Aaron's wife." Evan mumbled.

"And I don't want Lily to suffer even for a day. I'll never let it..." Evan said again.

Carissa let out a sigh, then smiled gently at her husband.

"I know your worries. But I think you're thinking too far. Lily was close to Albern just because she was Zivanna's sister. There's nothing special between them." Carissa said soothingly.

Evan looked at Carissa with a hard-to-explain look.

"You didn't see it, how Lily's eyes were so sparkling as she got down from Albern's car. And how pleased he was as he waved his hand at the boy. She looks like a girl in love, Carissa. I was really scared when I saw her..."

Carissa looked stunned for a while.

"Evan, Lily's all grown up now. It's time we stopped treating him like a child. Let's give him a trust."
