Assassin's Requiem
Volume 1 End (Chapter 10)

After getting crucial information about the conspiracy going on behind the prince's murder, Requiem and his allies devise a strategy to stop the rampant evil in the kingdom. They know that a difficult task awaits them, but they vow to take risks and fight for the truth.

Requiem gathers information from secret agents and witches he trusted, while his allies prepare their forces to fight against the kingdom's corrupt army. After days of planning and preparation, they were ready to act.

The prince smiled faintly. "But, this time, you won't enjoy it."

Requiem felt strange. Before he realized, suddenly the prince disappeared from before him. Requiem twisted his body, looking around for the prince's whereabouts.

"I'm behind you" said the prince in a condescending voice.

Requiem quickly turned around, but he was late. The prince managed to outwit him again, and Requiem felt a loud punch on his back. He fell to the ground with a stabbing pain. The prince stepped forward and stomped on Requiem's head violently.

"You can't kill me, Requiem. I'm stronger than you think."

Requiem could only stare blankly at the ceiling of the room. He knew he was going to die, and he would not be able to carry out his duties. He reflected on his short life, recalled his completed tasks, and regretted his final decision.

Suddenly, he felt a chill on his back. He turned his head and looked at his new ally who was carrying a mask wearing a black robe, and a man with a sword in his right hand.

"Go away, Requiem," the ally said in a soft voice. "We'll finish this for you."

Requiem nodded and tried to get up. He grabbed the arms of his ally and leaned on her.

"Thank you" whispered Requiem.

Allies smile. "We are friends, Requiem. We have to help each other."

Requiem nodded, then he saw the prince running towards them. He knew he had to move quickly.

"Push me," he told his allies.

His ally nodded and Requiem raised his foot against the wall. With a slight push from his ally, he slid up the wall and dashed over it quickly.

The prince was getting closer, so Requiem prepared to jump. He felt his breath hold for a moment before he finally jumped towards the prince.

The prince was shocked and looked at Requiem with a clear fear emanating from his eyes. Requiem took out a dagger from under his cloak and held it above the prince's head.

"It's time to put an end to this" Requiem said in a cold voice.

However, suddenly there was the sound of an eruption echoing throughout the city. Requiem was startled and looked at the surroundings suspiciously. He felt the prince's body tremble beneath him, and he moved his dagger from the prince's head.

"Damn it, what's going on?" ask Requiem, trying to understand the situation that is going on.

The prince looked at Requiem with a guilty look and said, "It was a canon eruption from my troops. I tried to stop them, but I was late."

Requiem nodded and helped him get up. They walked quickly towards the city gate, where they could see smoke and fire from afar.

"Let's go and see what happens" Requiem said, running towards the thick smoke blocking his way.

Requiem searched for the source of the voice and found a man armed with a sword standing on the roof of a building near them. He recognized the man as one of the prince's soldiers.

Without hesitation, Requiem pulled out his weapon and fired several arrows at the soldier. Several arrows hit the target, causing the soldier to fall from the roof and drop his sword.

"We have to go" Requiem told his allies as he pulled him away from the spot.

They ran as fast as they could while passing through the narrow passageways and dodging the guards who were trying to block them. Requiem did not care who they were dealing with, he only focused on one goal: protecting the prince.

They finally reached the meeting hall that had been prepared as a rescue site. However, they were surprised to see that the building was already filled with the prince's troops.

"They're stalking us" Requiem said, observing the situation.

"Maybe we can get through them undetected" his ally said slowly.

Requiem nodded and led their way past the princely army carefully. They managed to escape and reach the rescue site.

However, when they arrived, they were greeted with a surprise. The prince they saved was not the real prince, but a surrogate who had been installed by the true prince to deceive his enemies.

Requiem felt shocked and angry. However, he was also honored to have been part of such a sophisticated and complex plan.

He nodded at his ally, then stepped away with a heavy heart. He knew he had killed many people on this journey, and he felt that no one could take away his sins.

However, he knows that he has chosen to stand on the right side, and he will continue to fight to protect truth and justice.

As he steps away from the place, Requiem realizes that he has found something he thought was impossible to have before: the friendship and sincere sacrifice of a friend.
