Volume 2, Chapter 9: The Unraveling

Requiem and his new allies, a secret agent and a sorcerer, embark on their journey to the royal palace to uncover more truth about the conspiracy they are facing. They infiltrate in as guests at a large event held by the target prince Requiem.

Inside the palace, Requiem discovers that the prince has a complicated relationship with several members of the royal family and is involved in illicit business with several royal officials. Requiem realizes that the prince is actually a victim of greater power, and that he may be his only hope for dismantling the ongoing conspiracy.

However, in an attempt to get further evidence, Requiem and his new allies are caught in a dangerous situation when they are discovered by the palace's security forces. They manage to escape with the help of a knight who also defies the conspiracy.

After escaping, they planned to report their findings to the king and gain the support of the kingdom. However, on their way to the capital, they are attacked by conspiracy forces. In a fierce battle, Requiem and his friends were desperate and nearly defeated.

But then, came the prince himself, who had taken great risks to save them. He admits that he has made a big mistake, but he is ready to right that mistake by helping Requiem and his friends stop the conspiracy.

Requiem stopped his movements and looked at Shiro with a sharp look. "Whatchu mean? Do you doubt our duty?"

Shiro shook his head. "Not that. But, are you sure that this prince really did something wrong? Do you know what really happened?"

Requiem pondered for a moment. He did not know what was really going on, but he never doubted his duty. However, he finally lowered his dagger and said, "Alright. Let's find out first."

They then looked for evidence and information that could help them ascertain whether the prince was truly guilty or not. After a while, they find some suspicious documents in the prince's drawer, which reveal his sinister plans for revenge on other families.

Requiem and Shiro realize that the prince has been deceived by his own enemies, and that he is actually a victim in a larger conspiracy. They then decide to help the prince and uncover the truth behind the conspiracy.

They brought the documents to the prince and explained what they found. The prince was extremely shocked and could not believe that he had been tricked so easily. He then enlists the help of Requiem and Shiro to help him confront his enemy.

Chapter 9 - Part 2

Requiem continued to move forward quickly, jumping and dodging the attacks nimbly. He noticed that the prince followed his steps closely, but he did not interfere with his duties. The prince was too precious to let go.

Soon, Requiem arrived at the living room, where the prince stood upright in front of a large fireplace. Requiem dived behind a chair and waited for an opportunity to attack.

Suddenly, the prince spoke, "I thought you were coming. But, aren't you wondering why I asked to meet you?"

Requiem felt his heart thump. What does the prince want to say? Is there a deeper conspiracy? He did not show any fear on his face and asked, "Tell me."

"Behold, I don't hate you," said the prince suddenly.

"Is that why you asked me to kill you?" Requiem asked in a cold tone.

"Actually, I'd like to ask for your help to stop a series of mysterious murders taking place in my kingdom."

Requiem surprised. He did not expect such a request from the prince, and he began to doubt his true duty.

"But why did you choose to seek my help? There are many others you can ask for help with."

"Because, you're famous for being the best hit man in the whole world, Requiem. I believe you can help me solve this case" the prince replied firmly.

Requiem was silent for a moment. The prince might be right, but he wasn't sure if he could change his nature. He looked for a moment and finally made his decision.

"I will help you, but I will kill you if I feel that you are a threat to the safety of the kingdom" Requiem said firmly.

The prince smiled and said, "I believe you won't let me down."

Requiem and the prince stood there, stared at each other, and waited with mounting tension. The conspiracy behind a series of mysterious murders and who is responsible is still a big mystery.

However, at least Requiem found someone he could trust and a new friend.
