Assassin's Requiem
Volume 3, Chapter 1: The Gathering Storm

Requiem stared at the scene of the busy city below. He stood on the roof of a tall building, waiting to act. His job this time is to infiltrate the royal palace and assassinate the ruling prince, who is believed to be responsible for the conflict between the two countries.

He took a deep breath and checked the equipment he was carrying. He checked the throwing knife on his waist, pulled the firearm from under his black robe, and made sure the magic necklace given by the witch was still hanging from his neck.

Requiem jumped off the roof and landed gently on the deserted road. He continued walking towards the palace, trying not to attract anyone's attention. But, in the end, he got into trouble. Two palace guards blocked his path.

"Who are you and what is your purpose?" ask one of the guards in a sharp tone.

Requiem smiled faintly. "I'm just a guest who wants to meet the prince."

The other guards stared at the suspicious Requiem. "We don't allow anyone to enter without the king's permission."

Requiem raised his hand and revealed the magic necklace. "I got permission from the royal witch."

After checking the necklace, the guards finally let Requiem in. He was ordered to wait in the waiting room, while the guards went to inform the prince.

Requiem sat on a chair in the waiting room, waiting. He pondered his decision to kill the prince and questioned whether he really should do so. However, before he could think any further, the waiting room door opened, and the prince walked in.

"Prince, I-" Requiem stopped when he saw the prince's face. Something's not right with this guy.

"Prince, what happened to you?" ask Requiem.

The prince looked agitated. "I can't tell you right now. However, I need to ask you to do one more task for me. There are people I want to meet, and I need your help."

Requiem hesitated, but the prince promised a large payment. He agreed to help.

The two of them left the palace, went to a city to the west. There, they meet a woman who claims to be a secret agent.

"What do you want from me?" ask Requiem.

The woman explains that she works for another kingdom and wants to form an alliance with the kingdom.

Requiem listened carefully as the woman explained the intent of her arrival. Back then, Requiem realized that he was not only involved in a larger conspiracy, but also in a power rivalry between the kingdoms of the world.

"So, you want to form an alliance with the kingdom I come from?" ask Requiem.

The woman nodded. "Yes, we want to form an alliance with your kingdom. We have learned that the prince is the key to strengthening our position and keeping the world safe from threatening threats."

Requiem thought for a moment. He never paid too much attention to political affairs or war between countries. To him, he only wanted to finish his duties as a hitman with professionalism and without feeling.

However, he realized that in this kind of situation, he had to think clearly and take the right decision. If he manages to help the woman form an alliance with her kingdom, perhaps he can stop an even greater conspiracy and save the world from a menacing danger.

"Alright," replied Requiem finally. "I will help you in forming an alliance with my kingdom. But I have one condition."

The woman looked at Requiem sharply. "What's your condition?"

Requiem took a deep breath before replying, "You must help me uncover the truth about the prince and stop the conspiracy going on. I wouldn't have killed him if I had known that he was as innocent as it seemed at first."

Requiem nodded. "We must act immediately before it is too late. I will assist you in forming an alliance with my kingdom and we will work together to uncover the truth about the prince and stop the conspiracy from occurring."

Hearing the woman's explanation, Requiem nodded slowly and pondered for a moment. After thinking for a moment, he finally decided to accept the offer.

"Alright, I'll help you" Requiem said firmly.

The woman smiled in relief and showed her gratitude. They then discuss their plans in more detail and set out strategies to deal with their enemies.

The day passed and they managed to gather the important information needed to carry out their plan. However, they had to act immediately as their enemies also started preparing for the attack.

They were planning an attack at night when security in the city was low. Requiem and the woman infiltrated the palace quickly and undetected. They managed to find a secret room where their enemies stored important items.

However, while they were picking up an item, they were suddenly faced with an unexpected enemy. Requiem and the woman fought them fiercely, but the number of enemies continued to grow. They were desperate and almost lost hope.

The woman who had formed an alliance with Requiem also decided to join them and help in overcoming the problems in the kingdom. They become close friends and always work together in carrying out their duties.
