Jeremy, who saw Emily leave in annoyance, couldn't help but smile. His wife was different from other women. If the one who fell down with her was Clarissa, maybe that girl would never stop whining and asking, 'What should we do?'
Clarissa will not stop complaining. But Emily, his wife did not cry at all and remained calm even without a sound. A moment!! A sound?? Jeremy remembers, when he jumped off a cliff, Emily screamed loudly. Jeremy was sure he didn't hear wrong. Emily was really screaming.
Obviously his wife had a voice, then why did she have to be mute all this time? Was he pretending to be mute?
Jeremy sat leaning against one of the trees while thinking. She felt Emily had been gone too long.
"Why hasn't he come back yet?" Jeremy felt that the forest was very quiet despite the sounds of insects around him. However, he is worried about Emily's whereabouts. In fact, bad thoughts began to appear in his brain, such as what if his wife was actually eaten by a wild beast.
Thinking about it, Jeremy immediately got up despite his taping being very painful to move. As she stood up, Emily suddenly came running from the trees.
'What are you doing? Didn't I ask you to rest?'
Looking at Emily's hand movements, Jeremy felt like he was being scolded. He frowned and asked back in annoyance,
"I should ask, where did you go and why so long?"
Emily looked at him confused. What is this guy thinking? He did not know why this man turned around to scold him. Didn't he know that it was very difficult to find food in this forest. As a girl who grew up in the city, Emily's ability to survive in the woods was zero.
Emily can only make her way to and fro while making a trail of the wooden branches so that she does not get lost and can return to Jeremy's place. Emily sighed and gave the berry in her hand to Jeremy.
'Eat these. After that, let's go. I've found a place for us to take shelter.' the signal.
Jeremy stared at the berry Emily had given him. Stunned, Emily actually gave him a sweet berry even though Jeremy always tried to do evil to him. Remembering it, Jeremy was deeply ashamed of himself. Finished eating, hobbling off, Emily helps Jeremy walk into a modest house occupied by an elderly couple.
They were a pair of farmers who cleared land on the outskirts of the forest. Emily was initially very happy when she saw the house. But it turns out he was wrong. This farmhouse is still quite far from the residential area.
The good thing was that this pair of old farmers did not mind giving them a place to shelter. At first the husband wanted to help Emily to take Jeremy to her place. But, he could not leave his wife who was ill for too long. Emily did not mind it, because she herself could bring Jeremy there even though she was gasping for breath.
"God!! What the hell happened to you guys?" the old man asked Jeremy and Emily when they got to his house.
The condition of Jeremy's feet seemed to be very severe, it was visible from the swelling a very large and purple-black color. Emily could only shake her head and look at Jeremy.
This old farmer did not know sign language, before Emily had a little trouble telling him she needed help. Looking at his wife, Jeremy understood. Then he said,
"We accidentally got separated from the group while climbing the mountain and got lost, then accidentally fell into the river."
"Geez! It is unfortunate your fate. But, it's okay, at least you're still safe" the old man said with pity.
He then thrust a pair of men's clothes on Jeremy and a woman's clothes on Emily.
"I'm sorry. I don't have clothes as good as you guys wear. But, I think you should change your clothes. Hopefully this will fit. These are my clothes and my wife's when I was young" the man said with a friendly smile.
Jeremy looked at himself and Emily. True what this farmer said, their clothes were very dirty exposed to mud and torn in some parts. Previously even their clothes were very wet and dry by themselves when they fainted. They have to change clothes. Jeremy received the clothes given by the farmer and said,
The farmer nodded.
"I've prepared a room for you. You can change your clothes and rest there." said the farmer who made Jeremy and Emily look at each other.
Even in the Mansion, they had never slept together despite their status as husband and wife.
"Why are you guys just in? Come on in." said the farmer again.
Emily breathed. He then helps Jeremy into the room.
"Don't hesitate. Consider it your own home. I will prepare medicine for your feet and food for us to eat" said the farmer graciously.
Emily could only smile and nod her head in gratitude, while Jeremy was silent.
"You said the farmer's grandfather lived with his wife. But why haven't I seen his wife?" jeremy asked when the farmer came out.
Actually he asked just to get rid of his awkwardness for being in one room with Emily.
'I told you before that his wife was sick. So she couldn't get out and could only lie in the room.' Emily gestured.
They then both fell silent to each other until the farmer came to bring his own herbs.
Carefully, the farmer removed the bandage on Jeremy's leg that Emily had made from the tear of her shirt.
"Geez!" the farmer exclaimed at the gaping wound. It seemed like when they were carried away by the river current, there was something quite sharp injuring his leg.
"It looks like it's going to take a long time to heal" the farmer said.
"Please bear your pain for a moment. I'll treat him."
The man suddenly immediately touched his wound, leaving Jeremy shocked and screaming in pain. Jeremy believes the farmer has absolutely no idea how to care for the injured. It was like torture for him.
Luckily the farmer quickly finished his treatment. Jeremy breathed a sigh of relief with a cold sweaty face as he endured the extreme pain for him.
Jeremy really does not want to say thank you after being treated like that. But Emily's sharp gaze that was full of emphasis, made Jeremy inevitably open his mouth.
"Thank you, Grandpa."
The old farmer was touched.
"It's okay. Shouldn't we help people who need help?" he said with a smile.
