Emily, The Mute Girl

Emily, The Mute Girl
Goodbye, My Love

Looking at Clarissa, Jeremy wondered in his heart why the pregnant woman was walking alone without a bodyguard by his side. Jeremy looked around, not a single servant in sight could be told to follow Clarissa. So, he had no choice but to follow her alone. Because even though she hated him, she was pregnant with her child. Jeremy doesn't want anything bad to happen to his son-in-law, so he goes after Clarissa. Clarissa's red dress swept the floor as she walked.

"Clarissa!!" Jeremy called. Clarissa's footsteps came to a halt, but she did not turn her head at all. He continued to walk up the stairs, as if ignoring the call. Jeremy became impatient to see Clarissa ignore him, so he sped up his steps up the stairs, but Clarissa had reached the very top.

The courtyard in front of the Diamond Palace is more often called the Star Courtyard, is the widest courtyard in the Palace. There were about fifties of stairs in that courtyard. This place is usually used by the previous presidents to see stars with family members. Tonight was very bright, not a single cloud was visible.

Clarissa stood there staring at the stars. During his marriage, never once did Jeremy bring him to this place. Though it is said, this page is the most romantic place for the President and his partner to spend their night even if only with dinner there.

"Are you deaf?!" jeremy snapped unhappily as soon as he got to the top.

Clarissa turned her head to look at him, her red dress slightly moved swept in the wind, and her gaze made Jeremy uncomfortable. Clarissa still smiled sweetly at him, until her pretty eyes formed a crescent moon, but her gaze was very sad.

"What are you doing here, all alone without a bodyguard or a servant?" jeremy asked him. However, Clarissa actually smiled even more and laughed when she heard the question. Makes Jeremy frown his forehead.

"What are you laughing at?" jeremy asked, not understanding, did he think this woman was suddenly crazy?

Clarissa was still laughing, she saw the position of the two of them, there was such a wide distance. He stood at the other end of the stairs, and Jeremy at the other end. Clarissa stopped laughing. Ever since loving Emily, Jeremy never wanted to get too close to her. Whenever Clarissa tried to approach him, Jeremy would stay away as if Clarissa was very disgusting to him.

"Tonight, I feel happy" Clarissa said.

"Happy? What's for?" ask Jeremy for wonder. Clarissa looked at him while smiling gently.

"Because tonight you're watching me. Even worrying about me walking alone" Clarissa said happily.

"Stop talking nonsense. I'm worried about my future son, and not you. So, hurry in and get back to your place. I'll have the waiter follow you." Jeremy said annoyed. Hearing that, Clarissa became speechless. He lowered his head sadly.

"So so? In your eyes, I really never was" he said in a sad tone.

"You knew it from the beginning, so why are you still insisting on how you feel about me? Clarissa, from the beginning I was..."

"From the beginning?" cut Clarissa quickly.

"Jeremy, from the beginning I have admired and I admit that I have been in love since the first time I saw you. At that moment, I loved you in silence. Who gave me the courage to show my love for you?" ask Clarissa to sue.

This time Jeremy was silent to it. He recalled that time, when he was so ambitious as to defeat his father. Until he justifies all means to get support and enlarge his strength, including teasing Clarissa who knows nothing.

"You gave me hope by saying that you never loved your wife. You said you never wanted to live with him. You said your marriage was a huge burden to bear. You said you'd marry me any way. Why is your heart turning?" clarissa asked in despair.

"You said you didn't like it, so why did you suddenly want it so much and just dump me? Is everything you say a lie? Are you just using me?" Clarissa questioned something that she already knew the answer to.

Clarissa realized, from the beginning Jeremy never loved her and just wanted to take advantage of her, but the love she had plus every sweet word the man gave her, made her hallucinate and hope someday, she said, that man will love her. He kept hoping and waiting. But tonight, he realized, it was just his wishful thinking, which he hoped never happened.

"I've said this so badly I want to get you home, haven't I?" jeremy said, asking.

"It's your fault" Clarissa said softly.

"What?" Jeremy doesn't understand.

"If you hadn't given me hope, maybe I wouldn't have fallen too deep. You asked me to forget you when I couldn't forget you. You're the only man I love in this world, my first love after my father. So, how can I forget you?" ask Clarissa.

This time, Jeremy did not say anything more to refute him. It seems like he is starting to understand Clarissa's feelings. It's like her feelings for Emily, not going to change despite the distance and time separating. Jeremy thought, it looks like Clarissa was right. He shouldn't have played with someone's feelings from the start.

"I still love you even if you ignore me and choose to love another woman. I still can't hate you even though my heart hurts every day. What am I supposed to do?" ask Clarissa.

Looking at the desperate Clarissa, Jeremy feels uncomfortable but he doesn't know what to do.

"Clarissa, come on in. We'll talk about this later." Jeremy tried to talk softly.

"Why? Are you worried about this kid?" clarissa asked as she stroked her enlarged stomach.

"Stop talking and just follow my words" Jeremy said firmly. He wanted to step closer to Clarissa but suddenly Clarissa said stop him.

"Don't worry, Dear Mr. President. Tonight, he'll be my friend. I couldn't endure the pain any longer. Imagining yourself with another woman makes me feel so miserable. I really can't take it anymore. So, maybe this is the only step I can take. Goodbye, My Love..."

Jeremy widened his eyes, he felt as if time had stopped spinning when he saw Clarissa deliberately knocking herself down slowly as soon as she finished talking. He quickly ran to get Clarissa into his arms, but with Clarissa's large pregnant condition, he lost his balance and the two of them fell together down dozens of stairs. Jeremy's heart raced fast, he hugged Clarissa tightly. Jeremy felt a great pain when his head hit the tile. However, he tried to hold her back and did not let go of her embrace at all from Clarissa. He was trying to protect her. When they finally stopped, Jeremy felt excruciating pain and dizziness. He was trying to maintain his consciousness. Jeremy let go of his embrace to Clarissa and saw her deathly pale face.

"Clarissa!!" Jeremy called out to her, but only sobs and tears were flowing. There were no cuts or bruises on Clarissa's face but as Jeremy tried to sit up, he saw the tiles were covered in blood flowing from Clarissa's red dress, the blood blending with the color of her dress.
