Emily, The Mute Girl

Emily, The Mute Girl
Emily Crying

Gerald approaches Emily and Doctor Darren who are still watching him. He waved his hand to thank me. Emily looked at him in wonder.

'You can use sign language?' signal asked.

Gerald nodded.

"Yes, Young Miss. I understand and can use sign language" he replied.

'Where did you learn sign language?' ask Emily again.

"The servants here taught me. They said, if I want to live and work here, I have to learn sign language. That way, I can say 'thank you' to Young Miss." Gerald replied as he waved his hand hinting in thanks. She smiled and showed her sweet cheekbones. He looked like a young master in gardener clothes.

"I'm really grateful to you, Miss. Thank you for Young Miss, for taking my life" said Gerald once again.

'It wasn't me, but God saved you. Besides, anyone can help you. It just so happened that I passed the road first, so there was no need to be too grateful to me. Doctor Darren was also instrumental in your healing.' Emily's cue. He took a breath, then continued, continuing,

'Alright. I'm going in now. You can continue what you were working on.'

Emily turned around and left them. Gerald scratched the back of his head.

"It seems like Young Miss doesn't like me." he muttered.

Jeremy looked at Clarissa who was being escorted by the waiter to his room after finishing breakfast. He then moves on to find Emily without realizing that Clarissa turned around and looks at him sadly.

"Where's Emily?" jeremy asked one of the servants when he saw that his wife's room was empty.

"Young Miss was walking around with Doctor Darren after the examination" replied the maid while bowing her head.

Jeremy furrowed his brows.

"Is he okay?" tanyakanya.

"Young Miss looks lethargic" said the maid. The waiter did not know that Emily was just pretending to be lethargic because of the agreement, when in fact Emily felt very fit. But Jeremy himself seemed to forget about it, therefore he said while grumbling with annoyance,

"Then why is he taking a walk instead of a break?"

"Where'd he go?" ask again.

"Sorry, Young Master. I don't know." replied the waiter fearfully.

Jeremy was a little disappointed with the answer but then he waved his hand telling the waiter to leave. Jeremy decides to look for Emily himself and meets Aunt Liana in the kitchen.

"Auntie, did Auntie see Emily? How's he doing?" jeremy asked because she knew Aunt Liana would always accompany Emily.

"Is the Young Master really so considerate that he asks that?" ask Aunt Liana.

Jeremy cringing. He then remembered that Aunt Liana had no idea about his relationship with Clea, the middle-aged woman still thought of him as a man who hated his wife.

"Aunt Liana, I...."

"If Young Master really cares about Miss, why did Master make her cry? What did you tell him?" cut Aunt Liana.

Wait, what?

"Yes, last night when I wanted to wake her up for dinner, she cried in her sleep like a desperate person. It makes my chest tight. What exactly did Young Master do to her when you disappeared these few days?" ask Aunt Liana again.

"I didn't do anything. Didn't Aunt ask him?" Jeremy turned to ask.

"What do you think, Young Miss will tell me about what happened and what made her sad?" suhut Aunt Liana.

Jeremy was silent, Aunt Liana was right. Emily is the kind of person who harbors everything, just like her silence. Seeing Jeremy's reaction, Aunt Liana understood that it seemed like her Master really did not know anything.

"Young Master really didn't do anything" Aunt Liana said with a sigh.

"What have I done? If I wanted to do something to her because of my hatred, wouldn't I just let her drift in the river or leave her alone in the forest?" jeremy said coldly.

Aunt Liana felt that what Jeremy said made sense. Even he, when he heard that Jeremy and Emily disappeared, had thought that Jeremy might use this opportunity to take Emily's life.

"But last night, Young Miss said she had a dream that she was suddenly very sad and couldn't help but cry in her dream until she didn't realize that her tears were actually coming out while she was asleep." aunt Liana said she was still convinced that Jeremy had said something cruel to Emily.

Jeremy narrowed his eyes. He thought for a moment.

"Suddenly feeling sad? Didn't he say anything else?"

Aunt Liana shook her head in response to make Jeremy speechless. He thought, is it possible that Emily dreamed about how her parents died in the past? In fact, even though he forgot about his childhood, those terrible memories must have been imprinted in his soul so that it could have been that while Emily was asleep, his subconscious made her sad. Jeremy remembers that it wasn't wrong, Emily once said that she sometimes thought about dying.

Jeremy was struck with his own thoughts. What if Emily really decided to end her life? Jeremy rushes to leave Aunt Liana to find Emily. He stopped his steps with a gasp of breath when he finally found Emily. His wife was beside the pool and looked like she was dancing. Emily danced with a lively and beautiful gesture. He is not aware if he is being noticed

by two men. Emily's shadow is reflected clearly in the pool water, making the illusion that there are two Emily dancing.

The two men, who were looking at her from different places, were fascinated by her dance, and wondered, why does Emily's dance look so beautiful but also so sad?

Jeremy lowered his head. A shadow appeared in his brain.

*****flashback*****

Clea danced beautifully in the ballet classroom at school.

"Sister Jeremy, one day I'm going to be a very good ballet dancer. I'll dance in front of a lot of people" she said excitedly with her voice always as loud as ever.

Young Jeremy smiled proudly.

"of course. Now you're so great! I'm sure your dream will come true. And I'll be the first to watch your show!" jeremy said encouragingly.

"No promise?" little Clea asked with sparkling eyes.

"Yes, I promise!" the young Jeremy said steadily, then linked his little finger to Clea's pinky finger that stretched out toward him.

Jeremy quietly wiped away the tears that had dripped down his cheeks. He felt more and more hate himself. It is he who gives encouragement and makes promises, but he also takes away all those opportunities. In fact, today she saw Emily dancing, yet there was no smile on her face.
