Chaptre 99. The Eye-Unfacing Relationship

"Julian!!" Someone called Julian's name.

Julian narrowed his eyes looking at the figure that was getting closer to him.

"Now?" Julian knitted his two eyebrows.

"Yes, it's me. You still recognize me as it turns out," replied a beautiful woman who is none other than Kartika.

"Ah, I don't actually recognize you very well because you've changed a lot."

Kartika laughed. "I haven't changed, Julian. Oh yeah, what are you doing in a cafe at office hours like this? Is it because you're a Boss that you can skip as you please, huh?!"

"Eh? Don't get me wrong! I'm not ditching, I'm just..."

Julian's sentence was cut off because a cafe waitress approached him.

"Master, at the table you mentioned earlier there was no one there," the servant said.

"Whatchu mean? I came with him and he sat at table number 14" Julian explained.

"Yes, Sir. When I delivered your order just now, no one was there."

"What?! Tika, sorry I have to leave immediately. Here's the bill money, the change you take for you." Julian said goodbye to Tika and the waiter.

Julian ran quickly out of the cafe area. Kartika just looked at him with a disappointed look.

"Oh yeah, do you know who came with that guy?" Kartika is still curious about the figure with Julian. He asked the waiter.

"Sir came with a woman, Madam," replied the servant.

"Oh, so yeah. Thank ye. You can go back to work."

Kartika sighed slowly. "A woman huh? Is that maybe his wife? Nah! All I heard is Julian's not married. Or maybe his girlfriend? Judging from the panic earlier, it must have been a very special woman in Julian's heart. Looks like I'll never be able to reach you, Julian. There used to be Belinda and now the woman..."

Kartika who is still struggling with her own thoughts finally decided to leave the cafe. His mood was no longer possible to meet his social friends. He called his friend and said if he had any business suddenly and canceled an appointment today.

Julian drove his car slowly while staring at each passing person along the sidewalk.

"Good, Lian! Where you going? Why don't you pick up your phone?"

Julian decides to contact Leon and asks his men to look for Lian's whereabouts.

On a different street, Kartika saw a woman staggering and almost fell because she did not notice her steps. Many times also the woman almost got hit by a passing vehicle.

"God! Is he planning to commit suicide? Why walk like that?"

Feeling unbearable with what he saw, Kartika pulled over her car and went down and approached the woman.

"Eh? Diamond?" Kartika was surprised because the woman was a person she knew.

"Yes God! What the hell is going on with you?" Kartika grabbed Lian's pale face.

"Come with me!" Kartika hired Lian to get into her car.

Kartika noticed Lian's empty eyes.

"What's really going on with you?" Kartika Gumam. He then drove his car back to his boutique.

Esther aka Zara is thinking of a way to get out of the country. But it seems all in vain because Julian and Roy's men have installed photos of Esther everywhere.

"Damn! This was all because Noel had been caught. Now how should I? I have to keep moving every day."

Esther bit her fingernails while thinking.

"Akhs! Damnit damnit! I can't keep this up! I have to make a plan! If I can't have Roy, then .. other people don't have it!" Esther cried out in flames.

In a different place, Kartika arrives at her shop and brings Lian in. He gave Lian a glass of water. Lian accepted it even though she was still silent.

"Thank you" Lian said at the end.

Kartika smiled. "I'm glad to see you again. Are you all right?"

"No! I'm not okay..." The tears that Lian had been holding back from earlier finally shed as well. Kartika immediately hugged Lian.

"If you want to tell a story, I can hear it" Kartika said as she gently rubbed Lian's back.

"Mama!!!" The cry of a boy made his second embrace unravel.

"Hi, honey. You're home from school?" Kartika asked the little boy.

Lian noticed the interaction between the mother and the child. There was envy in his heart when he remembered about Rain, his son who disappeared.

"Sister Tika..." Call Lian.

"Yes, what's wrong?"

"Am I ... can I .. hug your son?" Tanya Lian hesitated.

"Eh?" Kartika looked at her son.

"Dear Nathan, this is Aunt Lian, Mama's friend. She's sad, can Nathan give her a hug?" Pinta Kartika with Nathan.

"Of course, Ma. Isn't a good boy always helping others?"

Nathan curiously approaches Lian and hugs her. Lian received the little man's embrace which felt warm. His heart rumbled feeling a yearning for his son.

Lian stopped her embrace and stared fixedly at the little man's face. He kissed every inch of Nathan's adorable face.

"Auntie don't be sad." Nathan wiped away the tears that had broken down Lian's cheek.

Somehow Kartika felt jealous to see her son's attention to Lian.

Lian nodded and kissed the back of the little boy's hand.

"Thank you very much, baby. You're a good boy."

Lian went to the bathroom. He washed his face that looked soaked.

Meanwhile, Kartika asks Nathan to play with his nanny. When it was about to catch Lian to the toilet, a mobile phone ring distracted her. It wasn't his cell phone but Lian's.

Kartika felt that if it was an important call because given Lian's unstable condition, it certainly made her family worried.

Kartika is still waiting for Lian to come out of the bathroom, but it looks like Lian is still there for a long time.

"I'd better just pick it up. Maybe it's from his family who's looking for Lian's whereabouts."

Kartika took Lian's phone from her pocket. He rounded his eyes to see the name on Lian's phone screen.

"Sister Julian...?" Kartika Lirih.

He stared at Lian's phone and at the toilet.

"Is it possible...?" Kartika did not dare to guess about his premonition.

Cell phone ringing stops. Lian's phone rings again. Still with the same caller.

With doubt, Kartika answered the call.

"Hello..."

"Hello, Lian! You finally answered my phone too! Where are you? I've been looking for you since the cafe. Hello, Lian! You're all right, aren't you?"

Kartika stared at the familiar sound in her ears. His eyes looked far away.

"Hello, Lian!"

The voice across there made Kartika return to her consciousness.

"Hello, Julian..."

"Eh?"

"Don't worry! Lian is fine. He's at my place now. You just come to Kartika Boutique."

"Kartika Boutique? So, Lian is with you, Tika? How come?"

Call ended.
