Jack and I met at dinner. Because of her busyness this afternoon, she left me again in the room, and at lunchtime when she was delivering lunch for me, I complained a little to her because she never accompanied me to eat. I always eat alone in my room. Just like my uncle's house. And because of my complaint, Jack promised me he'd take me to dinner together, with the others. When Jack came to pick me up to the room, I jumped up in excitement and grabbed his hand.
"Come on!" myrag.
We're going to the top deck. There were added some tables and wooden chairs. Food and drink are on the tables. Apparently Jack and his friends are having a picnic by the pool, the sky above is nice, plus the view of the full moon is perfectly round. Orange. It's exquisite.
Jack's professional friends haven't gathered all. Just seen four people.
"Hi, Miss. Good night" said one of them. He waved from the pool, one foot into the water, and he smiled kindly at me. Others also called for my greeting.
I say hello and smile back. "I want to join here. What can? You guys don't mind?" my many.
"Of course not, Miss," said the one whose position was closest to me. "Come, please sit here." He moved the chair beside me.
Jack has forbidden it. "You sit here" he commanded, at the very end, and he sat down next to me. "Awas, yeah. Don't have a PDKT with my sister or I'll shoot you in the head."
"Iiiiih.
They laughed and started to sit around the table. Jack introduced their names to me, all beginning with the letter J: Joe, Joshua, Jonathan, Jimmy, and Jeremy. The wind tonight is not strong. It's not so hot, nor is it too cold. And the sky is good. From far away I could see the moon in a perfectly circular shape. Shining with light.
Another one of Jack's friends, Jefry, emerges from the stairs, and Jack and the others make fun of him because he took a long shower. Like a virgin.
After everyone got together, dinner began. Everyone ate that delicious dinner. I got full and felt the need to lean on a lounge chair to lower the food in the stomach. Two of Jack's friends played chess, two were spectators, and two were smoking and relaxing on the iron steps on the side of the ship.
"By the way," I said somewhat whispering to Jack who was sitting beside me, "I can cook as well as the cook's cooking. Sometimes, I'll cook you food, um. But later, after I have a place to stay and have my own kitchen. I will never forget your kindness."
Jack just listened to my babble while sipping a canned beer in his hand.
"Why? You don't want to? Or do you not believe that I can cook well? Huh yeah?" my many.
Jack shakes. "No, kok. I believe," he said.
"Then?"
"You're not going anywhere."
"Eh? How come? Meaning how?"
"You'll stay at my house. You can cook and do whatever you want. With a note, never get out of the house because you have to hide. You can only go out when I'm with you. And that too must be with disguise. Okay, Rose Peterson?"
Oh, my God, I'm dumbfounded. "You're too good. My time should always trouble you? I... I must also be independent, right? I have to work, I have to make my own money, and I...."
"Please don't argue with me, Rose. I'm in charge of your safety."
Well, it looks like a message came in on Jack's phone, he grabbed it and read it, then he stood up and turned to me. "I'm down first, I have something to do. You wait here. I'll just be a minute."
"All right."
"Don't go anywhere. Listen to my orders."
"Yes... My dear Jack brother...."
"good. Don't argue." Then he called Joe's name. "Titip my sister for a moment" he shouted.
Joe who is now helping Jimmy move the tables to the corner immediately raised his right hand, rounding his thumb and index finger in response okay, then Jack dropped quickly.
After Jack's death, I walked to the side of the ship, to where Joe and Jimmy were straddling the iron stairs.
"Be careful, Miss! Watch out for a fall" Joe exclaimed to me.
I just nodded then climbed up the iron stairs, looking around. There was nothing interesting other than feeling the wind blowing against my face. Everything's dark. The sea below was black and I could only see the ripples of the waves created by the oncoming ship. But I admit, the wind that night was soothing, and I loved it. I stretched out my hands like Rose, the star of Titanic, felt a touch of wind caress my face while remembering my recklessness yesterday that jumped into the sea without fear. While at this time, with Jack, I want to trust him wholeheartedly. I'm not gonna jump into the sea. And while I was gawking down, all of a sudden...
"Rose...!"
Jack's screaming voice back there made me flinch. I was shocked, and...
Losing balance.
Everyone turned their heads and ran towards me, but before any of them managed to reach me, I had already fallen.
"Stop ship! Stop ship! Have the captain stop the ship!" shouting Jack.
I could still hear the sounds of scorching before my body went into the water, causing a loud bang. Now I feel again the cold and very salty sea water. I was kicking the water, trying to surface.
I gasped, couldn't breathe. My mouth was full of salt water and my eyes could see nothing in the dark water. And this time I'm somehow scared. I think I've drowned a few meters.
I struggled, fighting to get back to the surface, but my legs this time couldn't compromise. I finally choked in the water, making the saltwater swallow more and more. My nose breathed water and my body was limp, motionless. I felt a void, as if floating, and this time Jack's face flashed through my mind. But...
Nope. Not only did it happen, but he was really there. In the water. With me. He jumped straight down with a flashlight on his head, looking for me.
Finally, after a few minutes that felt really long, Jack looked at me. My body floated in the water a few meters below. He quickly swam towards me, grabbed my waist and tried his hardest to bring me to the surface.
Once again, a Jack Peterson saved my life.
