They soon meet with Gin because he has secured a seat for them in the caravan. Seeing the gazes they received, Gin realized that something must have happened when he left them alone. After hearing what happened, Gin began to swear publicly while thanking Itsuki for being there. Who knows what would have happened if he had not been there. Gin shuddered just thinking about it.

Itsuki has noted that his presence is finally starting to take hold in this universe. Compared to the original, Gin is more open to her and Rangiku while with the others he will return to Gin from the anime. Squinting into a slit, a mocking grin never left his face and always spoke in a sarcastic tone.

After exhaling, Gin questioned Itsuki, who was cleaning her hat, as Rangiku leaned over to hear her answer.

"So, how did you beat them?"

"Luck, I guess" replied Itsuki, while wearing his bamboo hat,

not taking the beans out of his pocket.

It's related to her biggest secret and, although, she doesn't like to lie to her friends, she has no other choice. There might be an opportunity for him to tell them in the future.

Seeing Gin's facial expression, Itsuki knew that he did not buy her explanation, but remained silent. However, the same cannot be said for Rangiku. This naive little girl, fully believed what Itsuki said because she could see her eyes glazed over and a red hue appeared. The same can be said for some of the other young girls who have witnessed the fight. Although his mask still hid half of his face, you can still tell that he was very handsome. The mask had just increased his charm by adding a mysterious dot to him.

And the way he stood in front, for them, was like a Shinigami protecting the nobility of souls from the clutches of evil. Elegantly defeated them before taking his hand and reassuring him.

Seriously, her rough fighting skills somehow became an elegant dance. Even the king of souls would be confused as to how the minds of these girls in love worked.

The three were not charged for what happened because they were victims and due to the fact that the person who told them this was constantly staring at Itsuki with fear while sitting in a position that protected the jewelry his family. Fortunately, the rest of the journey went off without a hitch as they continued into District 1, the surroundings becoming cleaner and better maintained. They often stopped to supply and take on more applicants who wanted to join the academy. The caravan population exceeded 1,000 people by the time they reached District 1.

Caravans cannot go to all districts due to lack of manpower and it will take too long. So when they arrived, they saw 6 other caravans already there as people set up tents, to work as temporary shelters, until the day of the exam.

It never crossed Itsuki's mind that so many people had come to enter the academy. With a rough estimate of around 6,000 applicants, this is just North Rukongai alone. IF other regions have the same number then there will be a total of 24,000 applicants. He wonders how the Shinigami will manage as he walks with Rangiku and Gin to the cheap inn to finally rest.

the next day - the next day

Once they reach the designated exam area, they realize that they are not the only ones thinking of coming early. They joined the people who were already queuing up, seeing some maids setting up platforms and about 5 large tents. The exam will start at sunrise and will test the amount of reiatsu they have, its potential, and the possibility of awakening the zanpakuto.

As the sun began to rise, they saw a group of Shinigami coming to the platform, leading them was a tall and young man. He had aqua green eyes and pointed raven black hair. He wore a standard Shinigami shihakuso consisting of a black kimono and white underwear with a katana tied to his obi sash. That katana is most likely his zanpakuto.

He walked onto the platform and waited for the applicants to gather. As soon as he saw that everyone had gathered, he began to make a speech,

"Welcome everyone, at the entrance examination of Shin'o academy. My name is Shiba Kaien and I will be watching your exams..."

Itsuki admired him enough for his beliefs. Kaien believes that one's 'heart' is determined based on the prospect of fighting and protecting. He strongly believed in Captain Ukitake's philosophy of combat, which consisted of two types of combat: fights to protect life, and fights to protect honor. Kaien went further and believed that the two of them ended up being the same thing: 'Heart.' He believed that one's 'heart' was on someone else, and that it remained with his comrades even after death. Having held such a view, he believed that people should not die alone.

The speech finally ended when Kaien went down and moved into the tent. These people were then grouped into 50 lines, each containing 120 people. The people in the back sat down as it would be quite the wait. Unfortunately the three friends were separated during all the chaos and were part of a different line-up.

People were then called one by one into the tent where they would be tested. Itsuki came to the conclusion that each tent contained 10 rooms where the exam would be held. People were called and quickly shown a way out which showed that the failure rate was very high. After waiting for about an hour, finally his turn arrived, and to his surprise, it was Gin and Rangiku's turn as well.

He came to the tent shown to a servant where they dropped off the information

"Name?"

"Minamoto Itsuki"

"Worn out?"

"14"

That was all they asked, the reason was that if they passed then Seireitei would be their home otherwise, they would be sent back. He then directed Itsuki towards the room where he would be tested.
