As he walked into the examination room, he saw a Shinigami waiting for him. To his disappointment, it was an unknown character that was not even featured in the manga or anime. He then looked at the three pedestals, each holding a crystal ball on it.

"First, put your hand on the left crystal and pour all your reiats. This will determine the amount of reiatsu you have. You need an average amount of reiatsu to get through."

The number of reiatsu a person has is categorized into 5 levels: Basic, Average, High, Great and Great. The basic amount of reiatsu is the general level of ordinary human strength because they have a minimum (Under the Average Class).

The average number of reiatsu is the same level of strength among non-sitting officers and low-ranking (Average Class) siters.

A high number of reiatsu is a common level of strength among high-ranking seated officers and average lieutenant (Class of Lieutenant) officers.

Reiatsu in large numbers was a common level of strength among those with the rank of average captain. (Captain Class)

Lastly, Reiatsu in large numbers. This level of spiritual power was reflected in his ability to improve the user during battle as well as his ability to affect the surrounding environment at a controlled level, allows the user to use it in battle to a surprising level (Advanced Captain Class).

They are then categorized into Up and Down.

Furthermore, they can also be categorized into 'Tertib' and 'Grass' which correspond to how well a Shinigami can control his Reiatsu. The orderly is very well controlled and chaotic because it has no control at all.

It raised Shinigami's eyebrows as he was slightly startled before continuing

"Now put your hand in the middle because it will test your resolve which will measure your potential."

Reiryoku is a force that is attuned to the spiritual sensitivity and willpower of its users. This means that those with higher determination have the ability to have more Reiryoku allowing them to use more reiatsu.

For recruits there, there are six stages ranging from 1 to 6 with 1 being the weakest. The crystal ball is tested for how long a person can last and measures only the potential of the applicant. That is not the end result, because willpower can be improved.

As Itsuki placed his hand on the ball, he felt a pain in his head. Although, compared to when he received his memories, it was just a walk in the park. The pain began to increase, from like being stabbed, to like being pricked by a needle. It did not stop there however; the painful expression now covering his face replaced Itsuki's apathetic expression as the pain increased once again. After a few minutes, which felt like hours to Itsuki, she finally let go of her hand as she gasped for breath, with sweat pouring down her face.

He looked towards the crystal ball and the result was shown

He waited for the Shinigami to continue but never heard anything. Confused, he turned around only to see the Shinigami staring at the ball with red eyes and an expression of disbelief. Shinigami realize that no matter how many times he rubs his eyes. The result will not change.

Shinigami stated, clearly confused. After a while to calm down, he then proceeded to start the third test, however, you could still see the shock in his eyes when he saw Itsuki as if he was a monster. Itsuki did not mind this gaze and continued to listen

"Now, once again put your hand on the last crystal ball. This will show if you can raise your zanpakutom"

It's very stressful for Itsuki because it's deciding if he can have it and he really wants it. Although he knew that he would still be accepted into the academy due to the results of the first two tests, zanpakuto was a must-have.

Each Shinigami carries a Zanpakuto, and each zanpakuto is unique: the sword is a reflection of the Shinigami's strength and soul, and a living being to themselves. The name zanpakuto is the name of a living spirit that empowers the sword and gives its power to the Shinigami who use it.

Zanpakuto's form and abilities are based on their Shinigami souls. Once a Shinigami knows his name, they can communicate with each other and grow stronger together.Zanpakuto is born with their Shinigami, and they die along with their Shinigami.

As Itsuki placed his hand on the final crystal ball, a clear anticipation drowned his eyes as he waited for the result. After a while no results were shown. The Shinigami realized this, and a hint of disappointment flashed in his eyes. Just as he was about to record the results, a dazzling flash of light shot out from the crystal ball accompanied by the sound of wind and the crackling of thunder. Watching this, Shinigami nearly faints and uses reiatsu to prevent himself from falling back. This continued until the flash of light stopped and the ball shattered into pieces.

What the Shinigami never told its participants was that this crystal ball showed a rough estimate of the power that the Shinigami zanpakuto possessed.

Still recovering from his shock, the door opened as Shiba Kaien shot into the room,

"What's going on?!"

After receiving the gist of the situation, Kaien looked at the boy and then returned to Shinigami

"I understand, finish the report and continue the examination. Another crystal ball will be provided"

He then looked at the boy

"Congratulations Itsuki-kun, you've graduated with perfect grades. Now if you want to come with me to the waiting room where your ID is taken. You will be transferred to the academy"

Upon seeing the shattered ball for the last time, Kaien takes Itsuki to the waiting room. Along the way, Kaien talks a lot while Itsuki only answers with a nod and short words. When they arrived at the waiting room, Itsuki saw about 20 people with Gin and Rangiku already here, it was clearly past early. Itsuki turned around, bowed slightly and thanked Kaien. Clearly surprised by the thank you from the quiet boy Kaien replied

"Don't mind that. You should talk more often otherwise, it will be difficult to make friends"

Itsuki did not reply as he returned to his ice-cold self before walking towards Gin and Rangiku.
