On a beautiful beach with the sound of crashing waves that greet the smooth shoreline there is a magnificent villa that reads Rivers: Sea Shore Cottage. Right on the balcony above, there is a couple who are enjoying the beauty of the beach that stretches in front of them.
But unfortunately, the face of the young couple is not as beautiful as the beach or the waves or even small crabs that run on the edge of the rock.
"Alma, I'm sorry. I can't" said the man. Her female partner looked to pucker her lips and turn her face away from the man. The man tried to apologize and comfort his sulking partner.
"What the hell is it, Luke? I really don't understand what's been going on with you these past two months. My goal in marrying you is not to spend myself crying every day! Now we have time to be together but I still feel like I'm alone! From the moment we get to this island, all you do is stare at your stupid cell phone!" hatch the woman while wiping her tears.
Luke's speechless. Their marriage lasted 3 months. But in the last two months, he has spent his time and devoted his love to another woman. There was a feeling of guilt whipping up that handsome man.
He really hopes that by obeying the wishes of Otis, he can forget the girl who is still happy to see in his heart. But the shadow is not as easy as reality, in the end, he is the one who is very tormented by this journey.
"I can only feel your love for a month of our marriage after that, you're out of nowhere. Is it because of that woman?" sue Alma who is still sobbing.
Luke bowed and closed his eyes for a moment. "I have to be honest with you, Alma. I should have told you this a month ago, but every time I look at you, I don't have the heart to say this,"
Alma covered both of her ears while continuing to shake her head quickly. "Don't! Don't say anything, Luke! I don't want to hear it!" The woman then walked out from Luke's presence crying.
"It's hard, Nay. It's very difficult to keep my promise" said Luke monologue. Then, the man went inside to catch up with his wife.
The next day, Luke invites Alma to breakfast at a restaurant near the beach. Last night, Luke couldn't close his eyes in the slightest. He thought about how to keep his promise with Kanaya. On the other hand, he felt tormented if he continued to linger with Alma, the wife he no longer loved.
"Alma, I have something to talk to you about" Luke said, repeating a sentence that Alma had rejected yesterday. The man hopes that this morning Alma will be better prepared to listen and accept what he has to say.
Alma's response was not as mysterious as yesterday, this time Alma ignored Luke and pretended not to hear him. With all the patience left, Luke clasped Alma's hand. "I need to talk to you" he said again.
Alma turned her face away. Luke knew that his wife was hiding the tears that had been dripping down his smooth cheeks.
"alma, please. We should do this. I mean, I can't keep imposing conditions like this. I feel imprisoned and tortured. Please understand" Luke pleaded. He was already unable to endure it anymore and those words just slid from his lips.
"What do you want to talk about? I think you already know what my answer to your question is" Alma coldly replied.
Luke downed the canned beer and crushed the now empty can. "Do you know what I'm going to talk about?"
Now everyone in the restaurant that morning, looked towards Alma who was crying hysterically. Luke did not try to calm his sobbing wife. He closed his eyes for a moment and exhaled his breath violently.
"I'm sorry, Alma. But I love that girl. For the past two months, I've been in contact with him and our relationship is getting closer before finally, Brother Otis knows it" Luke said. There was no guilt on his face.
Alma frowned. "Kak Otis knows who that woman is?"
Luke nodded slowly. Alma squirms uncomfortably. The woman shook her head vigorously and hoped that what she was thinking right now was wrong.
Think of Luke as the definitive answer to Alma. The woman snorted. "Then, what about me? Do I know that girl? Please, don't tell me who she is, Luke! Please, don't!"
"Yes, Alma. Your guess is right. Kanaya's. The girl in the photo is Kanaya. When Brother Otis called me, he asked me to go with you and he wished that I and Kanaya could forget each other." Luke replied. There was such a pain when he mentioned Kanaya's name. She missed the girl, There is nothing she wants more in this world than to hear Kanaya's voice. "We love each other and we know our relationship is a mistake and the dirty knows sooner or later if the world knows our relationship then it will be a disgrace to your family especially to Kanaya who already as the leader of the Rivers Group,"
Alma smiled bitterly. "Luke, what got into you? Maybe I won't blame my niece because I think she's too small to blame. You should guide him so that he is not wrong in stepping instead of inviting him to plunge himself together into hell!"
Luke's down. He already had a premonition that Alma would defend Kanaya and would side with her. But he was ready and glad to receive it.
"If you've known why I'm cold to you because I love other women than you. I want us to split up here" said Luke. All the emotions merge into one in Luke's heart and he doesn't know how to get those emotions out and which ones should come first to get out.
"I love you and I don't want to be parted from you! Whatever happens I want to be with you always. Forget Kanaya and look at me!" sahut Alma insisted on maintaining his household.
But how shocked Alma was when she saw her husband shaking his head. "I can't keep pushing this because I can't force myself to love you. Kanaya's already taken half my soul and my life,"
As she was slapped hard, Alma shook her hands to get more oxygen to keep her awake. "I need a pause to understand, Luke. I needed silence to reflect on everything before I drove back. After that, I'll make a decision on how our relationship will be going,"
Alma moved out of her chair and left the food completely untouched.
When afternoon came, Alma met Luke who was sitting on the beach while waiting for the sun to set on the western horizon. The woman sat down beside the look and resuscitated her head on her husband's burly shoulder.
"I've made my decision. I don't want a divorce from you. If you can't do it with me then I'll adopt a child for me to take care of or I'll buy an egg and plant it in my womb. I want you to remain mine, Luke," Alma said firmly.
