Kai keeps his promise by not telling Otis about Kanaya's illness. Kai also asked doctors and nurses not to keep Nay's diagnosis a secret.
A spinal cord examination has been done and the result Nay has stage 2 blood cancer. Has a life expectancy of up to the next 5 years and if Nay manages to win the fight with his cancer cells, Nay's quality of life will be longer.
"My son can go home? Finally, what's he sick about, Doc?" asked Otis one day.
The doctor smiled, the male doctor glanced at Kai and Nay. "Just fatigue, a lot of activity but not accompanied by adequate nutrition and sleep quality,"
Otis looked angrily at Nay, he ruffled his waist and nagged at the girl. "You're an adult, Nay. Live in order,"
"Miss Rivers still have to maintain regular control until the condition stabilizes. If you want to move hospitals, I will send an email to the next doctor so you do not have to bother thinking about hospital documents," said the doctor again.
Otis nodded without any suspicion. Kai feels guilty for hiding this, but he also thinks that Otis knows about this, he would panic and force Nay to stay in the hospital until the girl was fully healed and that would lead to, Nay's depression and stress.
After being discharged from the hospital, Nay decided to take an online course and only occasionally came to campus to submit assignments requiring signatures.
Doctors have sent Nay a chemotherapy schedule. "You scared?" ask Kai.
Nay shakes. "No, I'm not afraid. In a moment, my lecture will be over and after the graduation ceremony, I will return and continue my treatment there" Nay replied. "You didn't tell my uncle, did you about what I went through?"
"No. You want to tell him yourself, don't you?" ask Kai.
Nay nodded weakly. "Yes, and I wanted to live alone in the apartment because I would often scream in pain at night. The doctor said it would hurt a lot and after chemotherapy, my hair would fall out and I would vomit a lot. It's awful, isn't it? Am I strong, Kai?"
"Must and definitely! You have to be strong and definitely strong, Nay. Uh, but if you live in an apartment, who will accompany you?" ask Kai again. Of course the tall man thought of Nay.
"You" answered Nay briefly.
Kai pointed to himself. "Me?"
Again Nay nodded. "Yes, who else would be with me? Uncle Luke would, but I wouldn't,"
Inevitably, Kai also agrees to Nay's request which he thinks is very strange. He insisted that his illness be unknown to anyone other than himself. Then, what if Nay suddenly drops and dies? That thought is now residing in Kai's mind. It's a big responsibility.
For all sorts of reasons, Nay was always able to avoid Otis when he was doing chemotherapy. "Kai will take me. Papa's at home or playing chess with Mr. Tomkins on the side. The man was very happy to make corndogs and his wife sold them. If they find out, Papa is my father, they'll give it to Papa for free."
"But I'm your father, Nay. Are you hiding something?" otis asked suspiciously.
Nay shook his head quickly. "Nothing, Papa. I just don't want Papa tired of waiting, just let Kai wait. I'm gone," Nay kissed his father's cheek. "Kai, hurry!"
Until graduation day, Nay managed to keep secret the treatment he had been doing for the past month.
"I look so bad, Kai," Nay said grinning as he looked at her reflection in front of the mirror.
"Pretty. You're always beautiful" comfort Kai.
Otis enters his daughter's room wearing his best shirt and suit, which is dark blue, in line with the alma mater that Nay wore that day.
"I'm ready. Nay, what's wrong with you? Why aren't you getting ready? Why are you sad?" Otis immediately hugged his daughter. Not knowing what Nay was feeling right now, Otis wanted his son to be honest with him. "Are you okay, Nay?"
Nay was crying on his father's shoulder. "I'm doing fine. I just wanted to hug Papa for a second, but, ...." Nay pulled her body, crying she said, "But later, Papa's coat is wet,"
Otis laughed and pulled Nay back in his arms. "It doesn't matter to me, honey."
" Proficiat, dear Nay," Otis did not stop kissing Nay's cheek.
A few days after graduation, Nay took care of his return to the Metropolitan City. Accompanied by Kai, Nay takes final control of the hospital and performs the final chemotherapy.
"How, Doctor?" kai asked Nay after Nay had the last chemotherapy of the day.
"I have two news. Which one do you want to hear first?" ask the doctor.
"It's bad first, Doc. Make the good news a consolation" replied Nay.
The doctor smiled. "Well, the bad news is, the cancer cells have spread to some point and will later cause you to feel excruciating pain, and there is swelling in some places as well as bruising along the spine," the doctor showed pictures of cancer cells in Nay's body. "For the good news, the cell did indeed spread but did not get bigger. As long as Miss Rivers runs regular chemotherapy, we can control these cells. One more message from me, be happy, Nay. Happiness is the cure for all diseases,"
"Thank you, Doctor, for all your help. Thank you also for keeping this a secret from my father" Nay shook the doctor's hand.
After saying goodbye, Nay immediately returned to his apartment and got ready to go to the airport. Otis had welcomed Nay with joy and a happy face.
Elsewhere, the problems between Luke and Alma have not subsided. Alma is still trying to maintain their marriage.
"Chloe needs a father figure, Luke. At least, every day or two you can visit it," pinta Alma.
Luke, who was in the office at the time, did not lift his face at all just to look at his wife.
"Luke!" alma hatch.
"You don't see me at work? You came here at rush hour and it's not my break yet, Alma," Luke riled.
Just at that moment, Chloe called out her name. "Dadda, ...."
Luke closed his eyes, a little part of his heart touched when Chloe managed to call the man 'Dadda'. Although not perfect, but it has made Luke moved.
"Yes, honey," said Luke immediately to stop his work and take the little girl from Alma's hands.
She puts Chloe in her lap and teaches her how to type on a laptop. Luke occasionally kisses Chloe's corny hair and gently caresses the little girl.
"Luke, seeing you with Chloe makes me believe that we can be together" Alma lowered her voice.
Luke shook his head. "The more I say, the more we try, the more we hurt each other,"
"Tap-a,"
Luke's phone rang, he immediately saw the screen of his phone and Fletcher's name was written there. "Yes, Fletcher,"
("We'll be back, Mr. Wallace. Nay wants you to wait for him in the apartment tomorrow at 1pm,") Kai's voice is heard from across the street and it looks like his interlocutor is in a crowded place.
"I'll be there. Thank you, Fletcher," Luke replied, then stared fixedly at his wife's eyes that were similar to the bead of the girl he loved. "Nay come back and I'm sorry, I chose him, Alma,"
Without warning, Alma's tears rolled quickly and fell onto his lap.
