Chapter 9 First Mission

The next day we went to the guild office to pick up our adventurer card. I'm still curious as to what D-rank that's actually as far away as we are now. Does it take a long time to move up to D rank?

I hope we quickly ascend to D rank in order to quickly leave this kingdom. We were very close to the border, but there were conditions to get out.

We had already arrived at the guild office and were immediately heading to the reception desk. It turned out that there were already many people who were queuing up to receive their adventurer cards.

“So we can take tasks from F to D?” ask Emilia.

“Can we start today?”

“Of course. You guys can take the mission on that mission board. Then bring it here and we'll process it. After you guys come back bring proof and we will give you a reward.”

“Good. Thank you Mia.”

Me and Emilia went towards the board that Mia had mentioned earlier. There are so many missions mounted on that board. Starting from hunting, escorting, to collecting materials or goods. We are new, so we better take it from the easiest.

“Master, I think we can take on the mission of collecting medicinal plants first as a start.”

It seems like Emilia knows what I'm thinking. If he also agrees, then we will take the mission of collecting medicinal plants first.

I took one of the medicinal plant gathering missions. Then I handed it to Mia.

I forgot to look at the amount needed to complete the mission.

Me and Emilia waited while looking through the available missions on the guild board. I find it strange why there is no mission to get into the dungeon. Try me later to ask. I also took out the mission paper again.

Mia called us.

We got 12 pieces of silver. I shared it with Emilia.

Me and Emilia headed for the forest north of our test site. It's still the third day of the exam, so we'll probably meet the people who are doing the exam.

We reached the northern forest. As I guess there are still many participants who have not completed the exam. It's not important now that we have to complete this mission as soon as possible.

There were some who entered my search area. I think there are 6 hobgoblins and 15 ordinary goblins. We cannot attack them directly. If it was just goblins we would have been able to handle it, but not with the hobgoblins. We'd better make a strategy first.

“Emilia, there are 6 hob and 15 regular goblins near us.”

The two hobgoblins came closer. They don't carry weapons, so this will be easy. They used their fists to attack. It's easily avoided. I jumped and cut off one of them. There's only one, I stabbed him right in the heart.

I saw Emilia complete her task. The remaining 4 hobgoblins moved backwards.

“Don't let them back down!”

“Good!”

Emilia used a masamune coated with her blue-colored flame and went forward to attack 2 hobgoblins.

It's a good chance to try it.

I tried to use the skills I got, because I did not know the function so I only use it.

Suddenly the Gladio in both of my hands became one and turned into a gigantic sword. I think it's about 3 meters long, but it's light. I only use 1 hand. Now I understand this to incorporate Glyphs.

I easily defeated the remaining 2 hobgoblins. I saw that Emilia had also defeated her opponent. Now it's time to take the evidence and get back to the city. Now I'm level 30 and Emilia 28. Hopefully we will move up to D.
