Chapter 70 Mysterious Opponent

From the resting place, the journey was immediately resumed.

On the given map, the border of the battlefield was a small town belonging to the Sakura Empire as well as a fortress belonging to Liden. When viewed from the number, Sakura Empire is superior. But not with military force.

If the city is small, it means that there are only small protective walls or even none. It will be a war involving the population. Me and the others immediately accelerated our pace through the forest.

When we got close, there was a plume of smoke rising high and also the sound of fighting. We immediately sucked in to fight. 

When we came out of the forest, Ignis immediately rushed towards Liden's army. Following the attack from Emilia. Meanwhile Laura and Charlote head to the city to treat the wounded and guard the city.

My attack instantly destroyed Liden's vanguard. The Sakura Empire's army looks desperate because it is outnumbered. 

“You back off now or face me,” I said.

Emilia also asked the Sakura Empire troops to immediately return to the city. He also asked them to prepare for evacuation of the townspeople.

But unlike the Liden troops, they continue the battle. Their attacks were careless and uncoordinated. There's something weird here.

Even so, their attacks were extremely powerful. The rain of fireballs used by Liden's magic forces left several Sakura Empire patties returning to the city injured.

Fortunately the fireballs that led to the city were stopped by Charlote. But Liden's army still continues to pursue the retreating Sakura Empire forces. 

There is no other option like it, I have to summon a dragon to help. While Emilia was helping the army retreat, my dragon and I were fighting Liden's forces.

Liden's army started to huff when I summoned the dragon. They move more carefully. But still they are not an opponent that suits my dragon.

Some of them fled and returned to the Liden region. But still someone is trying to fight me. Of course they lost. Especially with Emilia.

“Emilia, we're done here. Now we go to Laura and Charlote.”

“Good master,” says Emilia.

Just let us walk, someone attacked Emilia. The man was wearing a red robe and also a mask. He brought 2 katanas. 

“Master, that...’ said Emilia while pointing towards the katana of the person who attacked us.

The katana is covered in red fire. It was the same as Emilia's Blue Fire, just different colors. For the power we have and how strong we don't know yet.

“Master, allow me to fight that person,” said Emilia.

“Are you sure you're up against him yourself?”

“Iya. I'm sure.”

“Alright, but be careful and don't be rash. If it is too difficult, just back off.”

“Good master.”

Emilia took out a second she said and coated it with Blue Fire. They looked at each other and prepared.

Their katana met each other and produced purple-colored sparks. Emilia leapt back, but was chased by the mysterious person.

The man shot a fire arrow towards Emilia. Using 1 Mirror Image, Emilia resisted the attack and counterattacked.

That person tried to dodge every attack of Emilia, but he was not Emilia's match in terms of speed. Emilia managed to corner the mysterious person.

DUUUAAKKKK

The man kicked Emilia away and once again shot a few arrows. This time Emilia dodged the attack easily.

But that fellow managed to take advantage of the gap as Emilia dodged her attack and attacked Emilia from close range. He hurt Emilia's right leg. 

Emilia also managed to injure the man's hand even with a short time of attack. It was really fast.

The two of them went back to keep their distance and prepared to attack again. That person was very skilled at looking for gaps and he seemed to be used to doing this kind of thing.

They fought swords for a while. Their strength seemed to be balanced at first glance. Both of them still have stamina and also MP which is very enough to fight.

Emilia has shown her 2 skills namely Mirror Image and Blue Fire. While his opponent only used fire manipulation skills.

Maybe he still has another card in his hand. In addition there is another thing I think about, which is why he did not launch an attack on me as well when I also entered the range of his skill.

Each of them was already injured but there was no sign of anyone giving up. I hope this fight doesn't take too long.

Or that's what he was after. Stalling for Liden's retreating troops and regrouping the force and then conducting a follow-up attack.

If I catch up with them now it might still be time but something is not right with this guy. I have to stay here and help Emilia if anything bad happens. 

They were silent for a moment and coated their weapons with greater fire. I could feel the heat from where I stood. The distance between them and me was about 30 meters. 

This duel with giant flames would end their fight. It was likely that there would be a huge explosion when they collided with each other. 

In an instant, they jumped up and smashed into their respective flames. As expected, a huge explosion appeared as well as a gigantic purple fireball. 

When the fireball disappeared, I didn't see that person anywhere. Fortunately, before the explosion, I used Umbra to protect Emilia.

I walked over to Emilia's place and looked around. I can't find that guy anywhere. Perhaps he used the attack earlier to retreat and cover his tracks.

“Emilia, are you okay?” 

“Ya masters. I'm doing fine. There are only a few minor injuries.”

I helped Emilia stand up.

“Sorry master, I failed,” Emilia said in a disappointed tone.

“It's okay. As long as you're okay, that's enough. But what was the last attack?”

“I don't feel about it. He may run away or still be hiding around here.”

“So yes. Now we return to the city and meet again with the others.”

“Good master.”

We're retreating back into town. I'm still curious about the person who fought Emilia. But clearly he was on Liden's side.

“Emilia, when you fought with her did you feel anything?”

The man came back and attacked. But after stabbing my stomach he backed off.
