Chapter 22's

Seirin won in the first round of the league against the Senshinkan. Shutoku also wins against Kirisaki Dai Ichi. But the team from Kirisaki Dai Ichi did not include the first team in the match against Shutoku and that made Midorima unhappy.

Heavy rain fell outside the stadium, leaving Midorima in the locker room brooding in light of the defeat against her earlier Seirin. Takao then called out to him because soon the match between Seirin's team and Shutoku's team will start soon.

Kise also came to watch the match. He smiled from the audience.

This match will be a tense match between Seirin and Shutoku. Both teams are hungry for victory. 

The match had just started but the atmosphere was already very tense. As Midorima was about to fire, Kagami kept on blocking his shot.

"Don't expect you to be able to shoot as long as there's me!" Kagami.

"Originally, I don't have any new techniques. The only thing I trained was my endurance. You may be able to match me, but don't underestimate me. My shot wasn't that easy, so I needed the right distance to stop you." Midorima said with a sinister aura while raising her glasses.

Riko realized something. 

"I'm sure you've noticed, if I can't keep shooting like that. But, your jump is the same. I just need to keep shooting until you can't jump anymore." And Midorima said again.

"It's going to be a test of endurance, yeah. It's interesting." Said Kagami while grinning.

'So he plans to keep shooting until Kagami can't jump? It's gonna be hard.' Inner Rei.

"It's so weird." Kuroko said while watching Midorima.

"Nani ga?" Ask Teppei.

"I don't know how to explain it, but Midorima-kun's attitude isn't what it used to be." Kuroko.

In the second quarter the same thing happened, Kagami continued to block Midorima's shot. Kagami looks bored as he continues to jump to block Midorima's shot.

"What's wrong? Are you tired already? If so, I'm disappointed in you." Ask Midorima.

"Of course not. You've got to try harder." Kagami.

'This is not good. Kagami is exhausted. How'this? Plus there is Takao who always confronts Kuroko. She can't help Kagami.' Inner Rei who was worried to see Kagami's condition.

Kuroko tries to escape from Takao, but he does not succeed.

"You won't be able to run. It won't work on me anymore." Takao.

As Midorima fakes, Kagami jumps up and is tricked by Midorima's movements. When Midorima shot, Kagami jumped again and managed to touch the ball so that the ball missed.

When Midorima got the ball, this time he did not shoot or fake, but he passed the ball to Takao. Those who saw him could not believe that Midorima, who usually plays alone, was passing the ball to a teammate.

Team reserve member Seirin began to panic because the Shutoku team was getting stronger especially with teamwork.

"Don't panic!" Said Riko who made them turn their eyes to her. "Stay with them."

"Not only did Shutoku get stronger. Besides, we got him now." Koganei said while looking at Teppei. "At a time like this, Kiyoshi was the most reliable person."

Rei then approached Riko.

"Coach, I think we should replace Kuroko-kun." Rei's speech was directly approved by Riko.

Kuroko was replaced by Mitobe.

"You're not over yet. Don't lose the consistency." Said Rei while giving Kuroko a towel as soon as she sat on the bench.

"Thank you." Said Kuroko while receiving the towel that Rei gave her and using it.

"Don't worry. Leave it to the team."

"I'm doing fine. Anyway, this will make it easier for me to use my new drive. Besides that..." Kuroko said hanging up her sentence. "I'm not worried. I believe in them." Then he smiled.

Hearing that, Rei smiled and refocused on the match.

On the bleachers, the newly arrived Momoi met Kise who was also watching the match.

"Came, Momoicchi. Are you here to see the match between Kurokocchi and Midorimacchi?" Ask Kise.

"Ki-chan, are you alone?" Ask Momoi.

"Huh?"

"It's a little weird because watching the game together with people beats my team. But we're going to play in the Winter Cup. How about we just have a little peace."

"certain." Momoi then remembered something. "What about the match?"

"It's gonna get interesting." Said Kise who was back focusing on the match.

Seirin's team continues to try to stop Midorima and decides to confront her with two people. It was no longer Kagami himself who confronted him. They use an offensive style of play that is by constantly attacking and scoring more numbers.

The first round is over. After a ten-minute break, the second half began. Shutoku managed to score first and turned things around by leading the numbers.

'He's smiling...Midorima smiled...' Inner Rei who saw Midorima smiled even though it was just a glance. 'He has changed yes...' Rei then smiled.

Shutoku counterattacks that trouble Seirin's team. As he was about to stop Midorima, Kagami could no longer jump.

"Coach, I think I can do it now. My new drive" said Kuroko.

Kuroko re-entered the match in place of Mitobe. Kuroko is confronted by Midorima, but he manages to get past her using a vanishing drive. With the entry of Kuroko, Seirin managed to equalize.

Meanwhile, Kagami looks exhausted from continuing to face Midorima. Right now, they were resting before the fourth quarter began.

"Kagami, are you okay?" Ask Izuki.

"I'm fine. Besides, I can't give up on him." Said Kagami while glancing towards the bench of the Shutoku team, or rather towards Midorima.

The bell rings the sign of the start of the fourth quarter.

"Don't push yourself too much." Rei said with a worried face.

"Just calm. It's not nothing." Kagami said as he stood up and patted Rei on the head slowly.

In this quarter, Seirin managed to score first because of the dunk Kagami did. He even managed to get past the two people who confronted him.

Midorima also did not want to lose. Despite his exhaustion, he still tried to score three points.

Both teams keep scoring. The game ended in a series.

"I'm sure you're not satisfied with this result." Midorima.

"of course. We'll solve our problems next time." Kagami.

"There will be no win in the Winter Cup. We'll solve our problems there." Takao.

"Of course." Kuroko.

After the game, Midorima was buying red bean soup at a vending machine. When going to press the button, suddenly appeared a hand that pressed the button first.

Turns out it was Rei, he then took the can and thrust it at Midorima.

"This is what you want, right?" Rei said as he thrust his canned drink at Midorima.

Midorima took it and raised his glasses.

"Why are you here?" Ask Midorima.

"I just want to give you a gift." Rei Said.

He then tiptoed and lightning-fast kissed Midorima's cheek. Midorima could only sculpt. His face then turned red.

"That's a reward because you fought so hard in that game." Rei said with a smile.

Midorima turned his face and raised his glasses several times to stabilize his emotions.

Not long after, Takao approached them.

"Let's go, Takao." Midorima.

Takao who did not understand just followed him. Rei just smiled. When they were no longer seen, he immediately returned to the place where the other members were gathering.
