"I thought he came because of that." Eris spoke as soon as she heard Arkas coming out of Askala's room. Of course, his difficult-to-handle rampage was also over. "You're too close to Roxanne."
"Not a problem near not close."
Arkas passes, speechless to realize that Eris is right. But Arkas could never blame Askala.
"My sister has always been my sister. I hope Roxanne forgives him, hopefully."
I don't know. Roxanne is weak and looks stupid, but when she already hates something, it's hard for her to stop doing it. The proof, no matter what Eris did, Roxanne was still angry.
"Talk about Roxanne, why are you here? Isn't it your duty to accompany him while Askala is settled?"
"My intention is so." Eris murmured. "But when he went to cleanse himself, Askala had come and Elios had Roxanne gone."
"Elios?"
"What did the boy think." Eris sighed. "But you believe Elios cares about his wife?"
Arkas looked at Eris and Eris watched Arkas even though he could not see him. The two of them instantly remembered the day that Elios handed over the bodies of his four wives.
The boy stared at the results of his actions without guilt. Even though he had just been beaten up by Arkas, Elios was just like seeing garbage thrown where it should be.
Others may not accept it out of conscience. But Arkas and Eris must admit that Elios loves Eirene very much. He loved her so much that Elios would rather live with Eirene's shadow than all the women he had.
"Why did you kill your wife? What mistakes did they make?" ask Eris at the time.
The boy, Elios, replied in a grim voice, "They think rival to Eri."
"They're your wives so of course they're vying for you to love them. What's wrong with that?"
"Competing with Eri means considering themselves worth it." Eve around Elios burned with anger. "Sister to justify their actions consider their degree the same as Eri? That so?"
"No." Eris answered so. "I don't justify their actions against Miss Narendra."
But killing four of his wives at once already proved that Elios did not care the great loss he could. He did not care though that Arcas revoked the vast amount of Elios' wealth which was managed by his four wives.
No. gabe. From the beginning, Elios didn't even care what his wife ate. Were it not for the Graean's hard work as well as Daniel and Zack, all Elios had would have been himself.
"Eris."
"Hm?"
Arkas threw himself on his bed, sitting looking up at Eris.
"One more time I ask, do you love Roxanne?"
Eris frowned.
"What's wrong? You still haven't thought of that?"
"No. I thought about it and I don't know. Roxanne walked away from me so it's hard to think of an answer to love or anything."
"Then" Arkas squeezed his hands against each other, "if you had to choose between Nernia coming back to life or Roxanne going forward, who would you choose?"
Eris's mouth opened faintly, about to reply but clenched back. The question was cruel to him. Between the wife he killed but loved so much with his sister-in-law who made him tempted to step over the limit—Arkas told him to choose?
".... Roxanne's."
"You chose Nernia, right?" Arkas smiles. "You're not the man who's going to pause that long for the answer you chose."
Nernia is dead. If elected, he will not live. And if he lives, Nernia will still want to kill Arkas and Eris will still kill him for Arkas.
Isn't it obvious Roxanne's answer?
"You don't think Roxanne and Askala are the same?" Arkas covered his face and laughed softly, but was sad. "They both wish to be loved for who they are."
"And what are they both that's disgusting?"
Arkas smiles. "Yes. They're both disgusting but wish they were loved."
