A few months after that, the marriage of the last child of their generation was held. Roxanne is preparing with her personal servant to present as Eris's companion. Her face was dressed, her hair was neatly styled, and she wore a black dress with gold rose embroidery.
Roxanne was secretly nervous. He still remembers his last feast which ended shamefully and now he has to be present at a larger party, attended by people who were not even from Narendra.
Eris doesn't let him get nervous.
"You don't have to do anything and just stay by my side." The man touched Roxanne's neck because he couldn't break the makeup on her face. He lowered his head, touching the tip of his nose on the tip of Roxanne's nose. "Of course, enjoy the party."
"I'm nervous about dancing" Roxanne said clumsily. "What if I mess up?"
"Isn't that why we practice over and over again?"
"But it's still different."
"Then don't dance."
Roxanne slapped Eris' hand in a small laugh.
The servant came to inform him that Arkas was waiting for their arrival. According to Narendra tradition, the first child and second generation youngest child, Arkas and Eris, must descend first from the bride to show their status.
Roxanne only realises that Narendra's life is like the life of a hard nobleman. They are organized, structured and should not be infiltrated by anything that does not fit their standards. Roxanne may have been the only one who didn't meet the standard, but now she's trying hard to meet that standard.
"My wife," called Eris, "Arkas with Askala?"
Roxanne. "I sometimes feel like you can see without eyes, Young Master."
"They smell different. I know because of that." Eris chuckles. "Then try to put on a face more haughty than Askala."
"That's impossible."
The conversation was over because they had approached Askala and Arkas who were wearing matching clothes. Arkas should be with his wife but well, who can argue if Askala wants to be with his brother?
"Roxanne, I love your shirt tonight." Askala praised with an unfriendly smile although not cynical as well. "Stay that way so I can like you a little."
"Thank you, Young Miss."
Arkas sighed. "Eris, are you ready?"
"Yes." Yeah."
"Let's go."
Accompanied by soft music, Arkas descends the castle steps towards the party hall filled with many people. Roxanne walked along with Eris, clutching her arm in fear as so many eyes looked on.
While this isn't her wedding, it feels like Roxanne and Eris' wedding when all those eyes actually see it.
"Now one world knows you're my wife" whispered Eris silently.
I don't know why Roxanne wanted to cry. When she became Elios' wife, Roxanne did not think that she would be given an end like this. She is an orphan girl who doesn't even have the right to vote. Sold for a suitcase of money to be a wife strangled by her husband.
At least Roxanne never thought it would end up in Eris' hands.
"You will bear a burden you never imagined before, from now on, Roxanne." Eris gently gripped Roxanne's arm. "But remember me Eris. Eris Narendra's. I choose you and will make sure you are happy with my choices, even when you cry."
"Sound like that?"
"Yes." Yeah."
"Then believe in yourself."
It was the last greeting before they climbed the lower floor. One, two, three, getting closer and closer to the party floor.
And when his feet with Eris have really stepped down, Roxanne knows that her life has entered a new leaf.
They entered a special circle of dance floors. Surrounded by everyone's gaze, Roxanne holds Eris's hand and dances as if she has become Cinderella. But the difference is, it wasn't just last night. It lasted for years until their children were born in the world, perfecting the happiness that Roxanne had.
And without Roxanne being able to stop, time kept spinning fast.
Now his hand has grasped the hand of his first child who today holds a wedding in accordance with Narendra tradition.
"Are you sure you want to dance with Mom?"
His son chuckled softly, pulling softly Roxanne in his arms. "I want them to know that Mother is my favorite woman."
Roxanne pinched his cheek. "Stop being a seducer like your father."
"Dad said being a seducer made me a woman."
Roxanne laughed. Put his forehead on his son's chest, follow the rhythm of the dance but also do not want to miss the baby's embrace.
"Take care of yourself while on duty outside" whispered Roxanne. "And say anything to Mother."
"Yes, Mother."
The dance was completed as the music stopped. His son hugged Roxanne tightly before letting go.
"Go to Dad, Mother. Look at his stupid face that's jealous of me. I really don't understand why she feels she has a mother."
"Stop calling your father stupid" Roxanne scolds but also laughs at leaving her son, to come to Eris.
Where she went home, wherever Roxanne's feet went.
"She's nervous about her wedding" whispered Roxanne as she arrived at Eris' side.
"All men are nervous on their wedding day." Eris is looking for Roxanne's hand to hold. "Calm down. He's a good boy. The wedding will be perfect."
Yeah, Roxanne, please. May his son's marriage not be as difficult as Roxanne's marriage was.
