"Can you return your sister's wife now?"
Eris stopped combing Simon's hair, her beloved cat, but returned to combing even though she heard what her mother had said.
Always has. Medea always heard Elios and Elios always knew that he was Medea's favorite. It's not that Eris didn't expect Elios to have Medea come for Roxanne.
"Can't, Mother." Eris answered calmly. "Elios threw away his thing and I picked it up. It's mine now."
"You know that kind of logic has no effect on Mother. Give your sister's wife back."
"I refuse," Eris insisted but gently. "I rejected any opinion about returning Roxanne let alone a request. So if it's just that, I can go back to Mom's room."
Medea smiled wryly at her blind son. "You've always done everything for Arkas."
"That is the duty of the first and second child in this family, Mother. Is Mom arguing about it now?"
"No. That's your job."
"true."
"But only then can the problem be solved?" ask Medea critically.
"What are you trying to say?" eris' reply though actually captures Medea's intent.
"Is death the solution of you, golden generation Narendra? First Eirene, she performed a noble task by not making the history of the incestuous child in this family, but her death is imprinted until now. And then Nernia, your wife, her death deserved but it's a testament to how brutal your way of taking solutions is."
Medea stepped forward, looking at her son's face that was so charming yet filled with heart darkness.
"Young Master," call Medea, suppress her son's title. "Are you going to kill all your brothers who do trouble? Is killing all your wives the solution to the problem?"
"I'm starting to not understand" replied Eris softly. "Who are you talking about? My sister, my wife, or Roxanne? Or maybe me and Arkas?"
"Of course." Medea laughed. "What is this pathetic woman talking about?"
"Mother—"
Eris kept shaking. "I told you I couldn't."
"THAT ONE WOMAN'S LIFE IS WORTH MORE THAN YOUR SISTER'S?!"
Eris was stunned to hear for the first time her mother snapped.
"You can kill Elios who annoys Arkas but can't even give up one annoying woman that actually belongs to your sister?! What's wrong with your brain?! Can't you just once, just once, give Mom some breathing time?!"
"Sorry, Mother." Eris moved, releasing Simon who embraced Medea. "I'm sorry to be a useless child. Don't cry."
Medea's body shook from her cries. He clutched Eris's clothes and sobbed out a sob of annoyance.
He must be tired. Must be really tired.
"Guind your sister" whispered Medea weakly. "Elios was already tormented by the loss of Eirene. Just give me Roxanne. Different from you who are strong, Elios is weak. He can't survive like you."
So Medea knows that Eris loves Roxanne? Eris thinks she's just like Arkas, thinking everything is just fake.
"I understand you love Elios so much but I can't let Elios touch Roxanne. It'll hurt Arkas and if Arkas gets hurt, he won't be able to carry out his duties as a leader."
Although the biggest reason was that Eris wanted to be selfish, but she would pretend to be unselfish and just do her job as the Second Young Master.
Medea smiled in despair.
"Give me Roxanne, Eris" he said, "or Mother burned Eirene's body today."
"Mom knows in my ear it's not a threat."
"It's a threat. Mother is willing to be branded as a traitor for injuring Narendra's precious treasure." Medea laughed forcefully. "After all, not being a traitor, Mother will only see you two killing each other. It would be much better if Mother were to come along as well."
Eris finally realized it was not just a threat.
