episode 52 Disaster

The closing ceremony of caraka activities has already begun. Everyone here followed the ceremony solemnly. They even got carried away with emotions when we all sang the Indonesian national anthem. Our patriotism soul came into being. This is the soul that every nation and country wants so that the next generation of the nation will love their country. The encouraging speech was also spoken by our builder with great zeal, beating the spirit of reading the proclamation text that is always echoed every day commemorating independence day.

It did not feel 30 minutes after the closing ceremony took place, once all the troops were disbanded, we hugged each other. I feel happy, because this event was a success as expected. Although a lot of things happened during the activity, we can still go through it with great enthusiasm. I shed tears looking at this mood.

Nura and Mia immediately ran to hug me. My body almost toppled backwards because it was not strong enough to withstand the weight of their body.

“You did it, Fey! Our show was a success this time,” exclaimed Mia.

I slowly let go of their embrace. “All this thanks to the help of all of you. I won't be able to do anything if you all aren't with me and support me.”

I smiled at Mia.

“I'm sorry, Fey. I had doubts that you could lead this event,” said Nura. “That's because you're such a quiet kid. You won't talk to anyone but us, I'm worried when they all choose you. Especially Refald, he was the one who stood behind me and helped me. I don't know what would happen if he wasn't here. I'm nothing without him.

I tried to forget the series of events that I experienced while here, my two friends did not know what I was really going through, and I also did not want them to know. Therefore, as much as possible let what happened yesterday, only I and Refald knew.

Thank goodness Refald came down first and helped bring my things. Maybe right now, he was already downstairs and waiting for me. He left his phone for me again. I started to smile without having to think about the past filled with sadness. Right now, what was in front of me was only a bright future. What I'm going to look like, I'm starting to see it. Now I can walk with relief.

I went to where all my friends were gathering. We all gathered in the field to divide the squads. The junior participants who had just passed the caraka exam were the first squads that would descend from this hill. They will go down first and be accompanied by some seniors who have been selected from us.

The second team that will go down is the PMR team and the remaining seniors, while the last team is the organizing committee team including me and the logistics team and the alumni who helped this activity. The last team went down later, tasked to check all the places so that no one was missed or missed, as well as making sure that our camping location was as clean and safe as before we came.

“What first team is ready?” ask Lisa after the squad split is over.

“Already, me, Juna and some other members will accompany the first squad down. After that, only the members of the PMR and our remaining members will go down, including yourself.” Lisa replied while submitting data on the first squad absence. “Next I leave it to you. We leave first.” Lisa left me and told her team to get ready to leave.

I was looking around for Yua and her team, but I couldn't find Yua anywhere. Though soon it was time for them to get off after the first squad left. Via and Epank are also absent.

“Where are they?” I searched for them but found no one.

I approached Nura who was getting ready together with Mia and the others.

“Do you guys see Yua and her team?” ask my two best friends.

Mia shook her head, and so did Nura.

“From yesterday I did not see Yua,” Mia said.

“But ... This morning I had a chance to see Yua and her members walking towards the river. I think maybe he and his friends want to clean themselves after 3 days of not being able to shower in this place,” explained Nura.

“What are they doing? Why hasn't he come back until now?” muttered.

Could something happen?

I don't know why, I suddenly feel nervous. My mind and heart are not calm. I'm afraid nothing will happen to Yua.

“Finely, I caught up with him first. You can leave first if I still have not returned,” I said to Nura and Mia and left after Yua.

Just a few steps I walked, suddenly there was a rumbling sound accompanied by a loud shock engulfing this area. The thunderous roar shocked me and made my body balance shake and almost fall due to a sudden shock that could be considered terrible.

A strong wind suddenly blew ravaging this place in just an instant. Some of the ground I was resting on also started to crack. There were even some trees that were directly toppled carelessly without being able to give a warning.

All my friends who were here panicked and shouted. So do I. I watched over Mia and Nura who were hugging each other from fear, as much as I could tell them to get out of this place immediately before the trees here fell one by one and hit us.

“You go first and seek help! I'm going somewhere,” I cried to Mia and Nura, then ran towards the river where Yua and her friends were.

“Fey!” yelled Nura and Mia together.

“Where are you going? We'd better get down first, then we'll find them again!” scream Mia.

“You guys are down!” I shouted back while running backwards. “I'll be back! I promise!” I still run while screaming. Either they both can hear me or they can't.

“How about Refald ask us! What should we answer?” Mia was still screaming.

“She has to wait! I will definitely catch up!” I shouted and turned around and ran as fast as I could towards the river.

Hope they're all okay.

I threw away all my negative thoughts and hoped that Yua and the others would be fine. Thankfully the shock did not last long, only about 5 minutes. But, the consequences have a big impact. Some of the trails are cracked and covered by fallen tree trunks. I tried hard to remember the right direction even though most of the broken paths were not lost.

The birds and other small animals started flying and ran away from the forest. Surprisingly, the atmosphere here is very bright and unpretentious. The sun is also shining very brightly. There was no rain, no cloud, only wind.

How could there suddenly be an earthquake and damage all these places? It's really very strange.

I climbed every fallen tree that blocked the road, shouting Yua's name.

“Yua! You hear me?” my yelling.

When I ran with Nura and Mia earlier, I also had time to see all my friends running away from this place. I hope they don't get lost and no one is left behind.

I looked at some areas and found no one. The place we used to camp was also empty. That means everyone has left this place when the earthquake occurred.

I headed straight towards the river to look for the whereabouts of Yua and the others. Although my heart churned out unsettled, but I just hope that they are all fine.

But the most important thing is not to admire the enormity of the damage caused by the earthquake and how much its power can damage the forest like this. Instead of finding out if there were any injuries caused by the earthquake earlier.

I was trying to find the whereabouts of Yua and the others. I don't know what their current condition is after seeing the damage from the earthquake.

Is Yua okay? No, is Yua still alive?

I started to panic thinking about Yua's state. As much as possible I throw away the negative thoughts lodged in my head. I convinced myself that Yua must be fine. I just need to find his whereabouts.

From a distance I heard the sound of crying. It means I'm getting close to the river. I looked for the source of the crying sound. And I found Via and two other people I didn't know were sitting there crying. When viewed from their uniforms, all three are members of the PMR.

Not wrong again, they are members of the PMR who are one group with Yua.

I ran towards them immediately. “What happened? Are you guys all right? Where are the others?” ask me as soon as I get next to them.

“I ... I ...” isak Via and the others are still crying between shock and fear.

The earthquake in this place turned out to be more severe than what happened at the location where we camped when viewed from the damage. It was only natural that the three of them were so frightened.

I hugged them to calm them down, although I could not wait for an explanation from them especially about the current whereabouts of Yua.

While waiting for Via and the others to calm down, I observed that the surroundings were indeed much worse than the places I had just passed.

Now, the water has turned brown because it has been mixed with the ground. It seems, there are also many landslides in this place. All three of them were lucky to have survived the earthquake.

I can imagine how devastating the floods and landslides that had just occurred in this place were. Maybe the rumbling noise was caused by the floods and landslides that occurred here.

“What just happened flood?” ask the three people in front of me.
