Meanwhile, in Kayuagung I tried to rack my brain to prove to my mother that I could live independently. 'I will be able to take good care of my son, ' my inner self. But, mother's words are true. If I work, who will take care of my son? If I bring it to work, it is more unlikely...who will want to accept me to work?
'That means I can't work for anyone else. I should have my own business, I thought. An effort I could make without leaving my son. However, what effort? I was confused because I had no capital.
For days I was confused. Until finally when I opened the kitchen cabinet I saw rice flour and peanuts. Suddenly this inspired me to make peyek and sell it.
When I was a kid, I helped my mother make peyek very often. My mother's peyek is very good. Not hard..fragile when bitten, but sturdy enough to hold. I still remember how to make it.
I immediately touched the bag of rice flour, about to get it out of the closet. However, the movement of my hand came to a halt when I realized that the flour and beans belonged to my mother. 'Can I use it for my business needs?'
But, my instinct to leave this house immediately was so strong. I had to prove to my mother that I was capable of being independent and not abandoning my son. Therefore, I said in my heart, 'I will replace it later when I have earned income from selling peyek.'
Coincidentally the mother was going to attend the celebration accompanied by Yuk Selvi. I quickly moved to make it.
Not finished making it I heard the sound of Yuk Selvi's motorbike in front of the house. 'Mom's home, ' I thought. I immediately put some of the finished peyek into the small jar.
Mother and Yuk Selvi who had entered the house smelled the scent from the kitchen and immediately approached me. "What are you doing, Rania?" ask Yuk Selvi.
"Peyek, Yuk."
Without me asking Yuk Selvi to immediately take a peyek and eat it. "Hmm, good." It was the first word I heard from his lips.
Meanwhile, the mother's expression showed disbelief. 'Hehh... Where might Rania be smart to make peyek, ' thought mom. 'He is not a Javanese.'
"Mom want a chip?" my many.
"Hmm, chip, Mom! Great," said Yuk Selvi while taking a piece of peyek and giving it to mother.
Mother looked at the peyek then hesitantly tasted him. "Don't you, Mom?" ask Yuk Selvi immediately.
Mom chewed on the peyek and just kept quiet, not much comment. Then, he went into the room to change his clothes. Meanwhile, I'm confused that I actually like my peyek or not.
Then, Yuk Selvi said, "Looks like Rania with your peyek. You see, if you do not like food, usually immediately protest a lot. But, mother was silent. That means he likes. Means your peyek is good."
Then, I immediately said, "Yeah, I want to ask you a favor. Couldn't Ayuk bring this peyek to the show and taste the mothers there?" I held the little jar I filled with peyek.
"For what, Rania?" ask Yuk Selvi.
"I want to sell peyek, Yuk. If anyone is interested, you can order with me. But, for those whose messages must dp first. It's for my modal to make peyek."
"Ohh... Okay, okay. I'll bring you later" he said, taking the jar from my hand.
'Hopefully someone will buy, ' my mind.
On the weekend as usual Mas Darwin returned to Kayuagung. My mother is now twenty-six weeks old. Mas Darwin saw me busy packing my mother's order into the bag.
I just kept quiet and continued my work. Darwin then asked, "What are you doing all this for, Rania? You're in a big pregnancy, you can't be exhausted."
I remained silent, ignoring Mas Darwin's words.
"You should rest a lot. Making this much peyek is exhausting. What are you doing all this for? If you need anything, I'll buy it for you. No need to work like this."
"Leave it, Mom," I said. "I want to learn to live independently. Besides, I have to raise money to take care of our divorce lawsuit."
Darwin was shocked to hear my words. He looked at me and said, "So, you're doing all this because you want to get divorced with me?"
I looked back at him and said, "Isn't that obvious, Mom? I want to get divorced soon."
Then I immediately left in front of him. I don't want to have a debate with him because I'm sure you'll hear it. I'd better get away from Darwin.
Meanwhile, at once Mas Darwin became pensive to hear my words. He was very disappointed with my words. Now he realized I really don't want this wedding anymore.
It's unexpected that Mas Darwin will return to Indralaya early this weekend. He may be offended by my words, but I don't care. My determination was already unanimous, I really wanted to part from him soon. He's the husband I never had. Why am I staying here any longer?
Meanwhile, mother became fussy with my efforts to sell peyek. He doesn't like me taking peyek's orders. But I don't care about it. I tried to cover my ears with a mother's rant that was quite painful.
"Why are you so lustful and thirsty to raise money, Rania? Just for the money, the life of your child is at stake" said the mother.
"Are you not satisfied with the facilities in this house? Food is always plenty, never less. Your electricity doesn't pay Darwin. Your pulse is always filled Darwin. Salaries paid by Darwin. You are well-given, not grateful."
"The neighbors gossiped a lot. You are pregnant, still had time to receive many orders peyek. Later people think you're not blessed with Darwin."
I fell silent and replied, "Mas Darwin hasn't given me any more money for months."
Mom was quite surprised and said, "Ahh....Where could Darwin be like that?"
"Just ask Ms. Darwin directly!" I don't care anymore about the depravity of my household which is getting exposed one by one.
"If so, I'm sure Darwin must have had a reason" said the mother defended her son. "Darwin man is responsible, which he might have had if there was no reason."
I kept quiet, not asking my mother to believe what I said. 'Free, surely he will be more defending his son, ' I thought.
Meanwhile, Alya's pregnancy has almost entered four months. He is busy preparing for the four-monthly study to be held at his home next Sunday. Invitations for the neighbors have also been issued.
"Honey, this is the shirt that I choose to wear at the event on Sunday," said Alya thrust a shirt from blongsong cloth on Mas Darwin.
"This one is mine," said Alya again while showing a light green dress decorated with pieces of blongsong cloth similar to Mas Darwin's shirt. "Our clothes are a couple" Alya said with a smile and Mas Darwin just kept quiet.
"I'll be four months old soon, baby. I can't wait to feel the tiny leg kick in this stomach" said Alya so happy and embrace Mas Darwin and Mas Darwin also returned his embrace.
