Ch. 27: He is the Enemy

Inside the library, a white-haired man was opening a book sheet. Her focus was not distracted by the friend by her side who was a long dark blue haired girl, hugging her and stroking her head many times.

Hu-Machina yes.

There is no explanation for Hu-Machina in the library books.

Every time the man looked for it, there was no more information about the creature. Which means a creature called Hu-Machina is a dangerous existence to watch out for other than Stahark.

"Are you thinking about something, Regard?"

"Yes." Yeah."

Next to Regard, the long dark blue haired woman who was worried over his sudden changed attitude made him not know what to do.

Overall, Fenrir only knew how Regard's past was. He himself had no idea about the other fact that Regard had possessed Demi-humans in his past life.

"Are you really thinking about it?"

"Yes. Their existence I can't forgive them."

His expression that was filled with anger and hatred could be clearly felt by Fenrir so he stopped his words and stayed where he was.

The register is the same. He easily ignores Fenrir's anxious and worried feelings of choosing to focus on the information needed in his search.

Inside the inn room, Shilphonia looked towards the window that was in front of her.

The view presented outside the window makes him not focus on the crowds of city residents who are on the move during the day. The only thing on his mind was the current state of Regard.

Shilphonia believes the reason why Regard did not act or talk to them was not because he hated those around him, but that there was a possibility that they did not know about what was really going on.

It could be that Regard who kept thinking about his future made him frustrated and depressed causing him to ignore everyone in The Necromancer.

"Is he okay?"

Although there was only one of her, Shilphonia could not hide her anxious feelings towards Regard.

As long as Regard still paused to speak, Shilphonia could not make any progress either from comforting him or calming him down, both of which were difficult to do if she did not know the problem.

Within the Adventurers Guild Hall, Reita and Friya who were rushing to take on the mission immediately left the Adventurers Guild quickly so that they could complete the mission as quickly as possible.

"Hey Friya, is it okay to let Regard think alone?"

"I don't know. But our only hope right now is that Fenrir is with him, he's the only one who can understand the feelings that Regard feels."

"You're right."

When they came out of the gate of Resihei City, Friya and Reita could not let go of the worried feelings that had happened to her friend, Regard.

In the middle of the night, the full moon soared high on the ceiling, followed by several bright shining stars lined up to meet the night ceiling making it look beautiful.

The ground sounds loud.

Behind the surrounding forests, a black shadow with red eyes shot out from behind the tree, leaping high in the air and throwing some of its abilities onto the ground.

The flames were burning through the surrounding forest, followed by ice crystal flowers blooming over a wide range on the surface, thunderous lightning strikes hit the surface many times causing the area to be hit by a scorch in an instant, as well as the mound of land that turned into a crater can be clearly seen.

"Why did this happen?"

In his calm words, there were emotions contained within.

Looking up at the ceiling, the tears drenching his cheeks made the man heartless over the memories that originally looked pleasant had now turned gloomy.

Not a single friend and colleague could be trusted by him. Be it a long blonde girl, a long blonde Elf girl, a blue haired girl, a long dark blue haired girl, all four of them were completely useless.

Clenching his hands, the man bit his lips.

Upset and resentful, the two began to envelop his heart. Every now and then he wanted to vent his frustration towards the monsters around and the living creatures he encountered, he could easily finish them off mercilessly.

But deep down, he asked her to stop committing heinous and evil acts on innocent beings.

What am I supposed to do?

Dropping both knees, the man was in a crawling position.

The raging feeling made it hard to forget the memories of his old friend who was a Demi-human.

Pleasure, laughter, joking, sadness, and happiness were all felt by him every day in Farihiora City as long as he went home and went on his mission.

The rain started to fall.

Overwhelmed by deep sadness, the man did not budge to immediately dodge the rain's stub. As a result, he who was soaked by rainwater, fell silent in his place and continued to ponder what to do.

The Necromancer, his new comrades, as well as the mission as an adventurer, the three were no longer on his mind.

The only thing left is to take revenge for the death of Sasaki, his old friend who accompanied his life when he was alone.

It was the only option that the man could make so he immediately activated [Infinity Spirit] preparing the body from himself using the [Shadow Clone] then started putting the [Soul Contract] down previously held by him to be able to awaken the soul remains he had managed to obtain.

[Shadow Clone] who was possessed by [Infinity Spirit] slowly changed her appearance into a familiar figure. Starting from long hair, wolf ears on his head, tail, his thin body with a slender waist, and both enlarged chests can be seen clearly.

The rest were [Dark Contracts] that had been used by Regard.

[Dark Contract] which previously bound a part of his soul successfully planted and placed in his body made memories and times when his life was back again.

"Are you conscious, Sasaki?"

"Sir..."

Instead of being happy, she was surprised at the arrival of Regard who managed to resurrect herself, hugging her body tightly and crying.

"Did something happen? You haven't sent me a letter in a long time."

"That's right. I wanted to go home a few days ago but I couldn't."

"Can't do it?"

"Yes. For a few weeks, I decided to settle in other cities while I was passing through. But..."

"Something happens to you, right?"

"Yes." Yeah."

Once again, Sasaki hugged him tightly.

Regard who previously noticed his deep sadness over his ignorance that made Sasaki like this inexcusable.

"I'm sorry for letting you go that time."

"No.. That's exactly why you told me to go, right?"

"Yes." Yeah."

Although he told Sasaki to go to dig up more information, he also wanted to let him have the right to freedom in his own life so as not to rely on Regard.

But, the estimate was wrong.

"I saw that they in great numbers destroyed the city, killed the inhabitants, and destroyed all the buildings that were left with no remnant."

Understanding Sasaki's words, Regard could imagine that it could happen.

Sooner or later, he was sure that powerful enemies would continue to arrive like Hu-Machina. Those who did not have any information made it frustrating for Regard to know a little information in the library but it was difficult to get there.

"Are they many?"

"Yes. They have dozens of creatures on the ceiling."

Tens yes.

If it was one, Regard could defeat it easily. But when he heard the numbers in the tens, he did not know if he was able to handle it alone or instead he would lose.

Regard hesitated to answer that he could do it.

"Anyway now, I need some of your soul back just in case. Is it okay?"

"Yes." Yeah."

With a sincere smile on his face, Regard began to do the exact same thing as before.

The Regard POV

"That's the story."

After explaining to them the reason why I didn't talk, eat and drink for a few days, I felt sick of what happened to Sasaki.

Even though he was my pet, he was my only friend back then so anyone who hurt him would come to feel the same way as he did back then.

"Thank God you're back."

"Yes." Yeah."

"I'm afraid that you'll succumb to the darkness that's within yourself."

Where possible.

Had I given up on the darkness, I would have long been controlled by it. At least I can be as I am now because I still believe a little that letting emotions control me, I will lose my own body and mind.

As much as possible I plant it in the mind of the head as a warning.

"Oh yeah, Regard, do you want to come with us?"

"Come?"

"Yes. We want to go to explore Lost Town which is in the southwest of Resihei City."

Lost Town yes.

As I recall, Lost Town used to be a city that was abandoned by the residents. It is said that in the city, the undead are active at night, trapping their prey and killing anyone who enters it.

It's just a rumor.

Even if it happened, I wonder if there was a Necromancer controlling them or people being fed by the darkness within them.

"What's up, Sasaki?"

"Lost Town was the place where the city was targeted by Hu-Machina."

"....."

Hu-Machina yes.

It's gonna be interesting.

"We're going to go."

"really?"

"Yes." Yeah."

That way, we left the city using public transportation in Resihei City.

I rented two transports this time. Me, Fenrir, and Shilph, the three of us were on one train, while Friya, Reita, and Sasaki were on another train that I had rented before.
