The Necromancers

The Necromancers
Ch. 40.6: Shackles and Freedom (6)

"Do you want to rent one more room, sir?"

"Yes." Yeah."

"alright. Please wait a minute!"

"Good."

A girl came out of the reception table upstairs to check on the inn rooms that were still available. Because there were several empty rooms, the girl was afraid that the belongings of the former people who rented the inn were left behind so she tried to check to find out whether there was a lag from the previous occupants or not, she just wanted to make sure.

"Is it okay for me to have one room to stay with you? Wouldn't it be better if I had one room with you to serve you as much as possible?"

"That's not necessary."

"No need? Why?"

"I'm not interested in doing it to you."

"Not interested."

Smiling bitterly at the harsh and stern words given by her new master, the girl lowered her head to cover her sad expression at the raw rejection from him.

Am I not worthy of him?

That thought popped into his mind that was completely unanswered whenever he wondered to himself.

"After we get the room, I want you to go into the room and rest for the next day."

"Is it okay for me?"

"Yes. You're free to do whatever you like, eat, sleep, and shower, it's up to you."

"....."

Regard who understood the awkward situation tried to make the atmosphere improve, but he actually made him look confused at the words he said earlier to the Demi-human girl.

He's really innocent huh.

Holding his forehead, Regard was dizzy to explain it from where first.

As long as she didn't explain it, the Demi-human girl continued to be confused over words she shouldn't get from Regard's good treatment of her. Surely Regard understood this so he realized it faster without the need for the girl to ask him directly.

"From today onwards, I want you to live life like everyone else to know the true meaning of the name life."

"That's..."

Staring at Regard for a moment and bowing his head, his expression turned to be moved by the unrequited kindness he had towards him. Regard who had fallen silent without saying anything looked at his clenched arms and trembled for a moment indicating that he was grieving for his kindness.

For a while they waited on the ground floor, the girl returned to the ground floor approaching the two of them.

"You may occupy the room next to yours."

"Lucky."

Taking out a cloth bag containing copper coins, Regard gave it to the girl and went up to the second floor without saying anything.

"Wait moreover? Hurry up and get some rest!"

"Good."

Without saying any objections or rejecting them, the Demi-human girl followed her words telling her to rest in the room until tomorrow.

"Before you rest, I'll order some food and drinks."

"no need. I am still full of having been fed this morning by my master before."

"Oh. That master seems to be very kind to you huh."

"Yes." Yeah."

Smiling at Regard who was looking at him in silence, he finished it off and went inside his room without saying anything to the Demi-human girl.

The Demi-human girl let out a long sigh, she was relieved at her success of deceiving her own master that she had eaten this morning. Though in fact the girl had not eaten or drank during the morning, she only did her activities to serve customers and visitors, provide additional services to them using her body, and rest.

Even if fed by his master, he was given only one dry loaf that had one fist that he felt was not enough to fill his stomach. When he asked for it, he would be tortured with a whip making him reluctant to refuse it.

"Watch the power I have now for you to know, Fallen Angel."

An entire silver-colored whirlpool surrounded Sasaki whose body was still filled with a dazzling silvery light. His tail that slowly grew one by one began to stall at the tail of eight which made his body drastically change into a different self.

Her originally short white hair turned blonde, a pair of silver-colored eyes turned golden, as well as her previously Hu-Machina clothing changed drastically to her old appearance showing indentations *********** and his ideal body can be seen after the silvery light disappears.

"You..."

"Yes, I'm the one you call trash."

Disappearing quickly where he was, the demonic figure circled the surrounding area to find out where he was.

Where's dia? Why is he so fast?

Not finding any signs of his movement nor the presence of Sasaki, the demonic figure bit his lips and began to emit a black light from both of his open palms.

"But you've been completely wrong because I'm the one who's going to finish you off."

"....."

Damnit. Where's dia?

Still searching for its existence, the demonic figure immediately flew up to the ceiling then threw the two black spheres onto the ground surface making large, long-sized needles appear from the cracked surface of the ground.

"Come out, you people!"

"I'm here."

"....."

One of his fists hit the belly of the demonic figure making him smile as it failed to make himself bounce. But unfortunately his smile disappeared as he found out his fist was different from his estimation, the fist that had previously looked unbearable slowly had a bluish aura in his fist making his body push and bounce in an instant.

Not allowing the demon to keep its balance, Sasaki used some of the clones he had to batter him. Exerting all the blows to the demon's body, face, and wrist time and time again, the real Sasaki ended it with a glittering silver sword piercing right into his stomach.

"End is over, Devil!"

"You..."

Its eight fluttering tails formed an upward arch, creating a bright bluish aura of light filled with mana in large numbers. The mana slowly began to form at the tip of his tail which contained a small, bright blue sphere that could be seen by the demon who was trying to remove the silver sword thrust from his body.

I must immediately avoid!

His instincts that said he was in danger made his body thrash to be free. Unfortunately, it didn't work.

"Good bye!"

The small, bright blue ball that shot a laser through the demon's body made some parts of its body hollow without any blood in it.

Falling and lying on the ground without being able to take precautions, his previously shocked expression turned into a smile that adorned his face.

"You're really great."

Closing his eyes that remained looking happy, he had been completely wrong over him underestimating his opponent.

Should he realize that he will not fall deeper, the woman actually demeans and belittles the people around him by assuming he is stronger than anyone.

"Ugh.." - UH...."

Holding her body that was about to fall, Sasaki held her head that hurt.

His body that had not used its original form from his old self really made a burden on his new body that could clearly be seen as the condition he was in now.

The pain that spread throughout his body, the head dizzy, his heavy body, as well as the cold sweat that flowed in his body made him unable to constantly maintain his old form.

Closing his eyes and adjusting his breathing for a moment, Sasaki's appearance that originally had his old appearance changed to his new appearance, Hu-Machina.

That was almost.

Fortunately, he was able to restore his appearance to how it was. Otherwise, he would have fainted and been unconscious for several days.

The Regard POV

Sasaki is a truly terrible and terrifying Demi-human.

When he and I went on a hunt on their first day to become adventurers, he lost control of his body as I opened up the flow of complicated mana in one of his limbs making the entire mana flow profusely within his body which spread to every place there was.

At that time, I was cornered. His figure was different from the Sasaki I knew, he had a sharp and cold look, his words were harsh and sharp, he said, as well as the aura of her higher existence to the creature seemed to really confuse me who she was and why she looked so elegant.

Every time he attacked me, he used his fist and a few silver-colored sword blades to stab me. I had indeed dodged that time by using [Acceleration] and [Wall of Skeleton] which were able to withstand the slash of his silver sword stronger than ordinary defenses.

Unfortunately, that didn't last long.

"That's..."

Recalling what happened first, I was surprised that some of his upward-curved tails, enveloped by a blue aura, could be clearly felt by me, spreading to the tip of his tail. Slowly the particles appear and form a small, bright blue sphere on each tail.

This is really bad!

My instincts say I will not if I act rashly on his attack later. Just one mistake, I'll be gone even if I'm a necromancer.

Justjust right. The bright blue spheres shot straight at me, breaking through the [Wall of Skeleton] defense and being able to crack at the [Infinity Spirit] I had with ease.

Unfortunately it managed to prevent me from quickly using [Death Slash] to make himself go without in the blink of an eye to immediately take advantage of the opportunity to take some of his soul to suppress the amount of mana in his body in order for him to not losing control as it is now.

That's what I did first.

The reason why Sasaki didn't look strong or weak was something holding him inside. What was holding him back was my [Soul Contract] which left him unable to exert all his strength to be released, instead, he was only able to use his standard strength like that of people in general.

If I let go, I will use the [Soul Contract] as much as possible and let the [Infinity Spirit] inside Sasaki's body spread throughout his body so that he can maintain his consciousness in using his abilities.

The ability possessed by Sasaki was the [Goddess of Wolf], it was a deadly and frightening ability to be used by him in eliminating his enemy.

Drastic changes to his appearance, quadrupling stats, as well as his abilities that were far above the average of the strongest creatures, Sasaki was superior in all aspects to surpassing them.

Totally unexpected.

That's how I felt as long as I didn't know Sasaki's identity before.

At first I thought he was just an ordinary Demi-human, but the estimation was wrong. He was a mixed child of Hybrids who had a race between Demi-humans and a direct descendant of the Goddess of Wolf who according to legend was already completely extinct.

You're really great, Sasaki.

Finished sending those words to her, I hurried to leave the Adventurers Guild to pick her up because she had successfully completed it as I expected.
