The Versatile
Chapter 19's

“We have arrived. Now what should we do?” ask Josh to Hazel. They looked at the building carefully.

“We have to get to the top!”

“Peak? N-no! We're not going to the top!” argue Josh.

Hazel looked at Josh with her sinister gaze. “If you don't want to die, we'd better get to the top. Remember that article my dad wrote?” ask Hazel to Josh.

“Golden flame tongue?”

“Yes, that means the peak! You see that thing up there? It looked like a burning fire torch and it was golden in color. We have to get to the top!”

“Wait!” Josh is blocking Hazel's path.

“Why? Are you afraid of heights? Try not to look down, or you can remove your fear from up there. Come on, if there's a Spencer, you're gonna be forced by him, too. Don't crybaby!”

“I'm not a crybaby! I have bad memories with height.”

Hazel has walked to the monument, Josh finally follows her by walking slowly but still trying not to lose Hazel. Someone hastily ran from the opposite direction to Hazel.

The man brought some of his picture books. Suddenly someone grabbed him and caused his books to fall. The person who hit him did not care at all that he continued his path without apologizing or helping the girl. Fortunately, people are not paying attention to it. Hazel quickly approached the girl.

“Can I help?” hazel asked as he picked up the papers that started flying.

The girl looked at him for quite a while and made Hazel wonder to herself. “What's up? Is something wrong?”

“No, it's just weird,” replied the girl.

Hazel helps tidy up her drawings and when she is done helping the girl everyone looks towards her. It made her even more curious if there was something on her face.

“What the hell is it? Why are you staring at me? Instead of helping even look around with a strange look. You guys why the hell?” His anger made everyone not pay attention to him anymore. The girl left without saying thank you.

“Why people? Paying attention to the person with the weirdo and the girl, has he never been taught to say thank you?” ask Hazel to Josh. Now that his attention was on Josh, he was stiff half dead. “You too! What's up?” urge Hazel.

“You know what you've done?” ask Josh.

“That's what I wanted to know since! If I knew, I wouldn't ask you Josh!”

“You've helped the girl.”

“It is wrong to help others? That's a commendable deed.” Hazel sighs.

“Yes, but no one has done such a thing since..” his words were cut off before Josh finished it.

“Since the equality you have made on this earth? since everyone has reached the highest level in all areas? Is that what you've learned so far?” Hazel shook her head. Then continuing his path, Josh followed behind.

“But why help people if they don't need us? Even they don't ask for it.” Josh shrugged both of his shoulders, as if asking.

“Technology can be advanced, but what's wrong with helping others. Basically all living things depend on others. It was in us before we were born into the world. While in our mother's womb, we need food from our mother. It's just how we leverage and put that dependency in the right place.” When Hazel spoke like that they had reached the top of the north staircase.

Hazel stopped for a moment when she looked around. “Wait! We're not up yet!” Hazel turned around and looked at the elevator in the middle.

“You have arrived above friends,” said someone with a tone they know.

Hazel searches for the source of her voice. “Haikal? Good thing you're here.” Hazel approached Haikal and hugged the man tightly. But he quickly let go.

“I know for sure you guys are here.”

“Let's go upstairs. I think there's something up there.” Hazel waits for the elevator to open and then gets inside.

“We're up, we can't go up anymore. The top spot is closed, no one can go up there again.” Haikal rubbed his nape.

Hazel looked confused. Where else would he go. Hazel believes her father meant the top courtyard of the monument.

“Alright, I know you're tired, you better come with me.”

Josh looked at Hazel who was still confused. Hazel was like a great girl who was racking her brain to know how to kill without a trace. Hazel carefully scanned every corner of this room. People are wandering everywhere. Perhaps the only way to get to the top is to fly.

Hamish leaned against his soft chair. A few months ago he went to a place to go undercover. He was three blocks from the building around. But the house is aloof.

Even within the house were many items he had never seen before, such as firearms. Since the presence of Hazel and her friends she is increasingly convinced that the house has a relationship with them. But Hamish can't tell them yet, because there's no one who can be trusted at the moment.

“I'd better talk to Haikal,” Hamish told him.

He pressed his ID and contacted Hamish. He installed a video calling system. For a while the screen only showed her face. Then came Hamish on the screen.

“How long did you lift it, friend?” hamish asked Haikal.

“Sorry, we are thinking hard here.”

“Who is with you?” ask Hamish curiously.

“Me and Josh too.” Hazel lifted her smile knot. And showed his face on the screen.

“Don't you go to America? Why are you here and where's my twin?”

Hazel folded her hands. “The story is long, if we meet I will tell you.” Hazel kept staring at Hamish, but what she saw was not her face painting behind Hamish. “Where are you now?”

“Oh, a, I was in, in, at my friend's house,” Hamish replied nervously.

“Then we have to go there! Where's it?”

Hamish gulped, he didn't know what to say. “Wait! You can't come here, my friend doesn't like crowds.”

“Then I'll go there!” Gertak Hazel's. Hazel knows something is hidden by Hamish. Because the painting behind Hamish is exactly like the painting on the wall of his father's house in America. If the house had the same painting, it would most likely belong to his father as well.

“No! You can't come here.” The connection was also cut.

Hazel hurriedly approaches the elevator, but Haikal pulls her hand. Hazel quickly pulled him, but Haikal's grip was stronger than she expected. The sound of an open elevator keeps Hazel from escaping Haikal. But once again Hazel has to give up her clutches that are as strong as dead ties.

“We have to find Hamish!” gertak Hazel on Haikal.

Josh kept looking around. This place is crowded with people everywhere. But there was one person he could not possibly forget about his face. The girl with the firearm in her hand was aiming at Hazel. The same girl attacked them in the parking area.

“Hazel ducking!” josh's shout echoed all over the side of the room followed by the sound of gunfire in the air.

Hazel hid behind a pole. Josh was on the other side, while Haikal had no idea where to go.

“Sial, why does he know we're here?” ask Hazel herself.

People are scattering everywhere. They ran to the emergency stairs. Hazel knew that if she ran up the stairs, her path would be blocked by so many people. So he quickly ran towards the elevator and pressed the button to open the elevator.

Again the girl fired her bullet at Hazel. Hazel was still too agile for him, she ran at full speed and returned to where she was.

Josh, who was on the other side waiting for the elevator door to open, was the only chance they had. If the door closes again, they are finished. Hazel kept counting in her heart, ten seconds felt like an hour. Fifteen seconds and the moment the twenty-second door opened.

“Josh!” Hazel yells at Hazel. They waited five seconds to run. While the girl continued to shower them with her bullets. Josh runs first, then presses the button to have the elevator door closed.

“Hazel! Fast!” josh shouted from the elevator.

The door was almost closed, ten seconds and Hazel ran as fast as she could. The elevator doors are closed now and they are in the elevator. But their escape didn't stop here, they had to get away from the monument.

People are screaming everywhere. This was due to the sound of gunfire that they had never heard or seen.

“Good work Josh,” praise Hazel. His waiting is painful now. As he looked at his right back, blood emerged from behind his clothes.

“You were shot by Hazel.” Josh approaches Hazel and checks how badly she is injured.

“It's okay this is just a scratch wound. We need to find Hamish. I haven't seen Haikal since the girl showed up. When he pulled my hand I thought something was stuck on him.” They ran away from the monument.

Josh held Hazel's hand. “I can walk myself Josh.” Hazel's voice was soft, she didn't want to sound like a rejection.

Josh let go of his hand. They're out of the area. The road is quite crowded. They boarded the bus and disappeared from the distance.
