The Versatile

The Versatile
Chapter 32's

I don't know for the umpteenth time Josh has run. As long as he knows Hazel he has made many escapes, even the pieces of memories he remembers are his last escape with Hamish to save Hazel.

Josh took a deep breath as if he was going to dive. Then run and tarsus run even though his legs hurt and most likely will be swollen. However, at least his strength was still enough for the next few minutes.

“Sial! Why don't these people stop chasing me! are they not tired?” Josh ambushed his black matan glass that he had hung on his collar.

The glasses were indeed a bit disturbing because they continued to flinch when Josh ran. Not like a bell, but like something that keeps bothering his mind when the glasses fall and Josh has to pick them up. Though it is not important, but the thought of Josh to take it when falling is his choice.

So Josh was wearing it. The same sound appeared the first time Josh wore it. “Eye scanning will be done.  Do not exit the procedure until the scan is complete!”  five seconds later the scan was complete and a zlip appeared. “Scans done! Welcome to Mr. Josh.”

Josh is used to these glasses. His sunglasses scanned every person he saw. Then the voice appeared again. “Reservation mode recommended. Threat detected! Threat detected! Direction at six, threat detected!”

Josh glared at his eyes, apparently his sunglasses could change fashion. “Saving mode!” josh said slowly, so that not everyone thought he was crazy for talking to himself.

“Saving mode activated!” the voice then disappeared, replaced by commands that appeared in his eye sight. Josh dodges from his left side, flazz glides very fast towards him and he manages to dodge.

“Hey, why haven't I been wearing these glasses since! it was like playing a game at home and having to shy away from all threats,” Josh shouted in excitement. Maybe he's the only one who likes to be chased by more than a dozen officers with his flazz.

Josh begins to shy away from unexpected attacks from them. In fact, they also did not suspect that Josh could avoid all their attacks. Josh was acting like he was in a Matrix movie. With superpowers that can slow down the bullet rate, but Josh with a different version.

“I think like this, I would love to be hunted by them,” Josh told himself.

The glasses can be great and cool, but Josh's feet that have run first now feel as if they are hit by something. He almost fell down because of his own feet. Josh had to hide to survive, because that was the only way his legs would recover.

Once again the attack is detected, they fire a flazz at Josh simultaneously. His sunglasses have been warned, but for this time Josh can hardly dodge. His legs were too tired and his heart also sounded irregular. A few seconds later his sunglasses warned again, but not an attack but a hiding strategy. Josh smiled broadly, this is what he needed.

From the right a crowd was heading towards the city center, but soon curfew would be enforced, just three minutes before everyone was inside their homes and locked their doors tightly. But these people what are they doing these nights? Did they come to help Josh? That's not possible.

The horde gets closer and Josh gets faster at running. Just five meters away, Josh reached the crowd, but officers fired flazz at Josh and of course the crowd. Josh managed to dodge before the flazz managed to land on his body. Unfortunately one of the crowd was hit by a flazz and made the crowd angry. They are like bulls being pitted.

The hordes of people were ― consisting mostly of teenage children ― ran towards the officers who were chasing Josh. Now they are the targets of the officers.

Josh becomes the only one running in the opposite direction. He didn't go to fight, not because he was afraid or anything like that. Josh needed a break to recover his legs that had been the focus of his life. And this was the only chance he could use to hide.

Josh shied away from the scene of the battle. He stopped in a narrow alley behind a shop. One more minute curfew will be in effect. All the stores have been closed since then, but Josh is not sure the group has now gone home. Definitely what they're doing now is hitting each other with the officers.

Josh took a deep breath. Alarms are running on every street corner. Marking a curfew has been imposed. The air was getting colder, even the rain started to fall. Usually they rain when the curfew has been applied because people will prefer to be at home if it is raining. Moreover, the weather that can be changed according to the wishes of the State officials requires that they be ready in any weather. Therefore, their homes are also designed to adjust the weather.

The wind was getting stronger and Josh was as cold outside. He needs a little hot chocolate and soup. His white skin was now getting pale. Fortunately the narrow alley here is not dirty, it has never been dirty since everything has changed. There was no rubbish scattered in the streets, even the rainwater that fell directly flowed down without making a lot of puddles.

Josh was sitting in a chair behind the store. Although the air is cold but his heart is never cold to forget the adventure with Hazel in his life.

“Hazel!” The voice shocked Hazel. A voice he barely knew.

“Dad! But ..” Hazel could not continue her words.

“You miss me?” his voice was so soft as if it could be chewed.

“Very! Never even this miss.” Hazel's tears started to flow. His father approached him and hugged his little girl.

“Don't cry! I know you're strong even if you're fragile in it. But you should be able to take care of your mother!” her father looked into Hazel's green eyes and then wiped away her tears.

In a trembling voice Hazel replied, “Yes, I will do!” his voice is really shaky.

“Dad should go Hazel! Take care of your mother for me! And remember! The future cannot be changed, but to achieve that future you must try.”His father let go of his embrace and kissed his little girl's forehead. Then run away.

“Dad! Dad! Dad!” shout Hazel. Then his eyes opened and found him in a room.

Dream about his father again for the second time. He remembered the warmth in his father's arms, as if it had just happened and was real. I don't know what time it is. Hazel felt she had been sleeping for a few days.

Hazel got up from her bed. Trying to stand up and balance his body. There's food on the bedside. A soup. Hazel believes this will be the best soup she has ever tasted. He quickly ambushed the soup and ate it. It was the best thing he had ever felt after coming out of that worst place of torture.

“Wait!” Hazel stopped for a moment and she remembered something. “Isn't this supposed to be made of steam?” but Hazel then continued to eat it, she was too hungry to think about it. “Bodo time with it!”

After she had finished her breakfast deliciously, Hazel tried to walk and find out this place. Hazel approaches the door she thought would be locked and turns out not to be. Again the surprising thing from this house.the door has a knob, it should not have a knob here.

Hazel turned the knob slowly and saw what was out there. An ordinary house is like any other house here, but it seems like only the door of his room has a doorknob. Hazel passed through several doors and none had a doorknob.

The television was on and someone was sitting there. A woman, who may have been his guardian angel. “Hai!” greet Hazel later.

The woman turned around and smiled, “You are aware?” ask the woman.

“Who are you? And why did you help me?” ask Hazel back.

The woman looked like a woman in her thirties. “Ah. I'm a friend of your father's. My name is Marie Curie. We work for government.” The woman stood up from her seat, waiting for Hazel to approach her.

“Dad never told me about you.” Hazel hesitated a little with this man, but she helped Hazel out of her misery.

“Of course he won't tell me about me now. There is a time when he will tell you later,” Marie said with confidence.

“I don't think so,” added Hazel.

“Why?” the woman let Hazel sit down.

Hazel approached Marie and sat down beside her. “My father has died,” replied Hazel quietly.

Marie's face changed instantly, she was shocked to hear Hazel's words. “What? But..” Marie saw Hazel's face before she finished her words. “I'm sorry. I'm so sorry,” he continued.

Hazel nodded slowly, “Nothing.” Now they are in a slightly awkward situation. “Have you been here before?” hazel said later.

“Yes, we're workmates. He's a very good friend. He also told me a lot about you and your mother. He said he's the luckiest person in the world for having a family like you.”

“Really? What's he saying about me?” ask Hazel again.

“She said when you were she was a little disappointed because you were a girl.”

“Dad really wants boys. But when after giving birth to me, my mother was sentenced to not be able to give birth again,” Hazel added.

“But after he saw you grow up he loved you very much. More dear than anything in the world.”

Hazel pensive. His mind drifted far away somewhere. But he could still hear Marie's voice even vaguely.

“Hazel! Hazel! Look!” Marie pointed to the television.

At first Hazel did not understand the television show. But then he saw Monas and many people who crowded. He thought those people wanted to travel, but when noticed by many people with posters that read Restore our trust!

Hazel still doesn't understand the posters and the people, which she remembers now Hamish. They must have taken Hamish there. Hazel overhears several conversations of officers who want to take Hazel to Monas to be handed over to no one.

But Hazel has escaped and she believes Hamish will be their bait to catch Hazel as well. Hazel is not stupid. But he's going there to help Hamish.

“I have to go to Monas! Can you deliver me?” ask Marie Hazel.

“Sure,” Marie replied briefly.
