The Versatile

The Versatile
Chapter 3

An hour later Hazel woke up. He found himself sleeping on a hospital bed, with hoses taped to his body. The medicine that was injected into him made him feel better. However, his body was still weak to stand. Hazel tries to wake her still limp body. He fell down and sat on the side of the bed. The door opened not long after he attempted to remove the hoses from his body.

“Hey, are you awake? What the hell are you doing? You have to stay that way for the next few hours, for your body to improve!” said a woman with something in her hand.

“Yes, I know. Now all I want to ask is, where is this?” hazel's face looked relaxed.

“You're in a building, called The Versatile. Yes, this building has many uses. We have operating room, meeting room, laboratory room, physical training room, and it won't be finished if I mention everything.”

“Wow, that's really great. In one building there is a hospital, a research place, and even you can practice physically here.” Hazel looks excited now. He had never seen a building as big and useful as that.

“Oke, get ready soon. You'll meet Aaron, the leader here in thirty minutes. Twenty seven rooms yes!”

Hazel's eyes followed the woman until she closed the door. His chest still felt a little tightness due to the incident earlier. But all she remembers is Spencer's anxious face when Hazel was about to die.

Hazel got up from her bed. Maybe taking a walk around this building makes him feel better. After all, this might be the only chance to be in this place. He had never even heard of this place. Hazel took her hanging jacket, then put it on. He felt the temperature getting colder here.

His footsteps were heavy, but he kept pushing to keep walking. People are wandering around. Busy with their work. Hazel heard gunshots. It's not so obvious, but he's sure it's a gunshot. The voice came from the room next to where he was standing. Hazel opened the door a little, then she peeked out from back there. That's a shooting practice. There was a group of people practicing. And there was one person who became his instructor. And that's Spencer.

Spencer's blue eyes were staring at Hazel and she realized Spencer had seen her after Hazel had looked into Spencer's eyes. He was a little surprised and wanted to leave immediately, but Spencer called him first.

“Hazel, would you like to join us?” spencer's eyes were still staring at Hazel.

“Hmm, actually,” Hazel fell silent for a moment then continued. “Sure, I don't have a job thirty minutes ahead anyway,” Hazel said.

Hazel opened the door wider, then she came in and closed the door. This room is soundproof, because it is only used to practice shooting. Hazel sat down following the others. Spencer continued his show. Hazel initially notices Spencer, but now her mind is on a walk. I don't know what he's thinking and his eyes look blank.

“Hazel! Can you show your friends how to use the right firearm and fire right at the target?” suaran Spencer shocks Hazel from her daydream.

At first he hesitated, but maybe it wasn't as difficult as he thought. Just a small firearm, not a nuclear bomb. After all, when else could he feel the sensation of shooting like this?

Hazel walks up to Spencer, then takes the truth out of Spencer's hands. Hazel was standing right in the middle of the target. His eyes began to focus, then he positioned his body at the ready to shoot. And within seconds Hazel fired her shot. The bullet shot out quickly, but not as he expected. His body bounced back as a result of the jolt of the bullet he fired. His shot was far from the target.

“I don't think that's what I mean!” while taking his gun from Hazel.

But Hazel won't let Spencer take it. “Give me one more chance. If I fail, then I do suck.”

Spencer agreed. Hazel's body was still limp and her hands were shaking as well. He could even feel his whole body trembling. Not this time in front of so many people did he have to fail.

His feet are very strong. Fortunately the medicine given to him made him feel better. Three, two, one. Hazel fired a second time. Again he bounced back, his body still trembling. And the shot didn't hit the target.

“I don't think I'm healthy yet. Next time I can definitely hit that target!” he said proudly, even though none of his shots were on target.

Thirty minutes passed, Hazel remembered her promise to meet the leader here. In room twenty-seven. Hazel quickly darted through the room twenty-seven. The lessons he had learned had really added to his knowledge. Not only that, Hazel also knows how to hold a weapon. Although it would be useless at school, at least he could hold it properly..

“Twenty six, twenty seven. Yep! Here!” said Hazel who now stands right in front of room twenty-seven.

The door opened, before he could hold the knob.

“Oh, have you arrived? Come log in!” the woman who was in her room. The woman had a mediocre posture, but she was very smart to organize herself. Anyone can be tempted by it. Perhaps she was the same age as her mother, about forty. But, he doesn't look like that.

The woman lets Hazel in first. The room was quite spacious and the first thing Hazel had in mind was, that person was the oldest person here. Must be around his fifties. But all those shadows were completely far from his expectations. That person looked around his thirties, having green eyes like his. And he looks dignified in his suit.

“Welcome to The Versatile. My name is Aaron Marshall. Have you been around?” Ask the blonde guy.

“Actually I enjoyed my thirty minutes a little. But honestly, I don't know what this place is?” Hazel asked casually. He did enjoy his thirty minutes with Spencer.

“OK. Look, about seventeen years ago, someone named Riley Calder made a place that no one knew about. Because this place is underground. This place is used as a protection, even a place to live for people who work here.”

Hazel simply nodded while listening solemnly. Actually he had never heard of it, but it would be the thing he believed in now. His father had died and that was sudden. Of course he believes there is something odd about his father's death. Hazel just has to wait for time to find out.

“We used to work in secret. Even the government doesn't know it and we put our best agents to work for the government. Keep an eye on people who are corrupt or something. However, now that the government is watching us,” Aaron explained.

“So, what problem should I solve?” his face looks serious now.

“You've heard the story that everyone must have a twin in this world at least seven. Some are born directly with their twin, even up to seven or more. “

“Yes, I know. But is there really such a thing in this world?”

“Of course, I met my own twin two months ago. But I have no intention of finding anything else,” the woman added Aaron.

“Good. I believe it, then what does it have to do with me?”

“Your father is our best agent, therefore he put himself in government. Your father has died unnaturally, and we assume that he has kept a secret that no one knows except him. And it was hidden in a place. We've managed to find it, but we can barely open it. Because of using passwords that we did not recognize, our hackers managed to try it. And what came out was your name. Hazel, with seven behind her. We know your father once told you that he wanted twins and boys. But when your mother was pregnant she didn't get twins.”

“Wait, so my dad is like making a connection between my other twin?” Hazel still hasn't digested all Mr. Marshall's words.

“I think so. We don't know exactly either. It looks like it's in your brain,”.

“But how can I find my twin? Do they have the same age as me?”

“That's what we're thinking, your twin certainly has a different age. Some may even be toddlers. Physically you are almost the same, but by nature and thought you must have a difference.”

“Tomorrow! You must find the other six soon. Because you also need practice to take care of yourself. Because maybe something unwanted happens. And one more thing. You'll find another with Mr. Ford , he'll see you in a minute.”

Then the woman followed him out. Hazel kept thinking about how she could find the other six twins in the world. They could even be toddlers. He walked down the corridor. Not to look for Spencer, but he didn't know where to go. He also did not remember his room. This place is so big to explore. Now all he needs is to wait for Spencer to find him.

There was an empty chair nearby, Hazel approached him and sat there. He felt very homesick, misses his mother and father. Even friends. But he can't come back for now. Something terrible will happen if he goes and does nothing.

The sound of footsteps from the turn on his right side, made him alert. Maybe it was Spencer who was looking for him. That's right, he stopped for a second. Trying to catch his breath to get back to normal.

“You! Quickly follow me, my friend saw you running from a crowd of people. I think it's your twin and he's in trouble.”

“That's how soon I found my twin? It feels less challenging,” replied Hazel casually.

Spencer was still panting, but he tried to talk as fast as he could. “Come on, this might be the challenge. He's being chased by a bunch of people, it could be your challenge!”

Turning her eyes Hazel got up from her chair and followed Spencer, who kept running down the corridor.

“They saw you running south. My friends are following you now, they're carrying GPS. He's the red dot!”

“Yes, I know Mr. Spen-Sir,” said Hazel with her pretentious English accent. He is not actually English.

They got into the car and drove as fast as lightning. But in the middle of the city, the cars could not walk. New York is a busy city, they have to change vehicles or they run to be able to catch up to Hazel's twin.

Hazel doesn't bother, she immediately grabs Spencer's GPS, and gets out of the car. Spencer follows him, but Hazel has run first and now she's far behind.

Hazel runs towards the red dot on her GPS. He ran and did not care about the situation. Even he felt his adrenaline rush to do this.he felt like he was risking his life, or maybe the life of his family.

He turned the corner, took an alternative path. Towards a small dark and damp alley. A bunch of boys were standing there, some were smoking, and some were carrying bottles. Hazel was sure it was alcohol, even from afar she could smell it.

A boy approached Hazel and stopped her steps. At first he wanted to turn around and did not want to cause any trouble. But that path can make it closer to that red dot, or arguably its twin.

“Hai beautiful girl! What are you doing here?” Ask a child. The boy was wearing a sagging T-shirt and jeans that were worn and torn. In his mind Hazel kept swearing.

“Surge! I have to go through!” hazel said a little nervously. He was indeed nervous, but it did not affect him to turn around or plead.

“What? You want to pass?” said another boy. “Come here, play with us and be our toy,”.

“You want to play huh?” hazel said in a mocking tone.

Then two of the five boys approached her, now closer to Hazel, who could see them. Their faces looked messy, one of which looked like after being burned.

Hazel was silent in her place, but she was ready to fight. As one of them got closer to Hazel, she touched her hair. But Hazel parried his hand.

“This is mine! and no one can touch me!”  gertak hazel's.

The boy looked at her cruelly, which made Hazel even more angry. This time it was her other hand trying to hold her hair. Hazel again fended him off and stabbed the boy.

As the fight begins, Hazel begins to beat the boys one by one. Blow on the face for a black-haired kid. It was for a boy who wanted to touch his hair.

And the others had multiple attacks, until Hazel remembered that this was not what she was doing. He has to go after his twin who may be in trouble.

Hazel ran away from the children, pointing her upturned thumb at them. The weather is not very supportive for exercise. Hazel wasn't really exercising, but she was running and it looked like she was exercising. Not chasing someone to be saved.

His eyes are now on his GPS. The red marks stopped right next to him. He glanced at the shop across the street. A minimarket, he saw people with angry faces were walking around there. Two men stood in front and the other searched inside.

Surely the twin is there, if so he can outwit those people.it's his twin, Hazel's face must be similar to him. From where he stood he tried to outwit those people.

“Hey, what are you looking for? I'm here!” hazel said loudly. To the extent that the people around him glanced at him. The road is pretty solid.

The two people in front shouted to their friends. Hazel ran as fast as she could. Fortunately, people have filled their way. At least it could slow their run.

Hazel turned in her arms, bowing slightly so that the men would not see her turn. His body of only one hundred and fifty-five inches made it easier to hide among these people.

Hazel ran towards the minimarket earlier, her GPS also still shows her twin who is still inside. Maybe he's in the toilet. Hazel quickly opened the toilet door, and there she found a frightened girl.

“Hey, I'm your twin. There's something important we need to do. Come with me! you'll be safe,” Hazel orders gently.

“What? The twins? I never had a twin,” asked the girl.

“OK, I didn't believe it either. But look! Your face looks like mine! Although not very similar to me. How old are you?”

“Twenty, you?”

“Wow, I think I'm younger than you. Seventeen.” Hazel extended her hand to her return. “Now we go to versatile.”
