The Versatile
Chapter 34's

Hazel was a little surprised that the one who called her was Josh. He thought he wouldn't see Josh again. He thinks Josh doesn't want to get into trouble, even to the point of being hunted down.

“Josh!” but then Hazel turned to Hamish and to the man who had turned his back.

“Do not approach! Or you know the consequences! You see this high-voltage flazz, if you get close then I don't hesitate to stab him!” snapped the man.

Hazel looked at the face of the man who resembled Spencer. Hazel does love Spencer and she can't lie that she likes Hamish too. Everyone was silent, and so was Josh.

Josh is only aware, he has super glasses that can detect sudden movements. Josh activates the counterattack mode. His face was smiling cynically.

“Let him go or you'll be lying down falling in...” Josh stop. He glanced at his watch. “Five, four, three, two, one.” Josh ran as fast as he could and he was like bouncing off a wall and pouncing on the man's back.

Hamish slipped out of the man's grasp. Hamish is not good at fighting with his bare hands, but he he knows some attacking moves from Hazel. Hamish stabbed the man in the stomach with his elbow. The man screamed in pain.

From the other direction someone has been aiming at Josh with a flazz. Hazel ran towards the man and kicked his hand until his flazz floated in the air. At that moment Hazel caught a free-flying flazz and turned it on the man.

The man raised both his hands which meant giving up. “Hamish! Yosher! We have to go!” when Hazel turns around, she bumps into someone.

“Hazel!” the same voice he heard when he was almost dying. The man held Hazel's arm.

“Spencer!” Hazel looked at Spencer longing. “Where have you been all this time? I thought you had returned to our time,” Hazel said in disbelief.

“Many things I have to tell you. But not here! we...” Spencer has not had time to finish his sentence and someone suddenly fired a firearm at them. Fortunately the woman was not on target, or maybe she was deliberately not on target.

Hazel glared in disbelief, “What the hell is this! Olivia! So you're the one who made all this mess!” Hazel glanced at Spencer, as if Spencer had covered up this thing.

“Wait, wait! I didn't know that he was the cause of all this mess, I only found out yesterday when he was broadcasting himself.” Spencer explained.

“ Hello dik! It's good to see you again! I hope you join me!”

Hazel freezes for a moment, “Dik? So Olivia's your sister?” Hazel looked at Spencer again. “I think she's your wife. Your faces don't look alike,”. He even asked such a thing.

“What?” as Spencer turned to Hazel, “My wife? even if she has no blood relation with me, I don't want to marry her. I think I know why you haven't married Olivia,” Spencer taunted her brother.

“Oh come on, at a time like this you guys have been talking about such things.” Hamish folded his arms around his chest and rolled his eyes.

“So what do you want here Olivia?” ask Josh later.

Olivia raised both eyebrows. “I just igin everyone knows that their leader has lied to them and I want everyone to know that no one we can trust but ourselves.”

“Wait! You mean, you want to destroy all the existing governments?” josh asked the real one he was digesting all Olivia's words.

“Accurate once. Smart child.” Olivia looked at Josh.

Nah! I won't let it! I also hate government, even though my father works in government. But I think I'm starting to understand why my dad did all this.” Hazel looked blankly ahead. His gaze did not lead to anyone.

“Then you can cooperate with me, then we find the tools that your father made and we can make this place a tourist spot.” Olivia reaches out her hand to take Hazel along with her.

Hazel's gaze now turned to Olivia, then she turned to Spencer and Hamish. Hazel walked slowly towards Olivia. “Maybe it's my chance to show my father that he really wants girls.”

“Hazel no!” Josh tries to get in Hazel's way, but Spencer gets in her way.

Hazel looks back at Spencer and Hamish, then at Olivia. A woman who really looks like someone who craves power. Hazel almost reached Olivia's hand. One more step and Hazel could reach his hand.

Now that Hazel has held Olivia's hand, “You've made a good decision son. Your father would love to have a daughter like you.” Olivia grabbed Hazel hard, in her other hand she clasped the flazz and stabbed Hazel in the waist.

“You know that my father really wants boys, but I will prove that I was born equal to men!” Hazel clutches Olivia's hand holding Flazz and slams her hard enough.

“Quick get out of here! I saw him put something down, I thought it was a bomb,” cried Spencer.

They ran out, Hazel just staggered Olivia a little. If there's a bomb inside, it's gonna collapse and everybody knows that there's a lot of people outside demonstrating.

“You won't survive here Hazel!” Olivia swore to Hazel.

Hazel turned around for a moment, “I was trained to defend! Just so you know it!” then Hazel runs after Josh and the others.

Outside of people passing by. Hazel almost lost Spencer and the others. At first he did not care about everyone, for him these people were not anyone he knew, even he did not care.

The air is getting hotter because too many people need oxygen here. Hazel was silent when she saw the little boy her parents were leading her to. By the time Hazel's thoughts drifted far away, the voices of the people had left her deaf to Spencer's screams.

“Hazel! What the hell are you doing? We have to go!” Spencer shouted as loudly as possible.

“Hazel! You could die if you stay here!” this time it was Hamish who was shouting.

Now their voices were very clearly heard in Hazel's ears. He'll die if he stays here, that's what Hamish said and fights with the people here. Hazel runs away from Spencer and Hamish. He ran towards the person who was decorating in the middle using a speker.

Hazel tried to get there as fast as possible. For him people here are nothing, but this world is his future. The future of his grandchildren someday. The future of all who are in his day. That is the reason that makes him care about everyone.

But Hazel's late. A loud boom rang out, making everyone point towards the monument. The bottom of the monument is destroyed, the top will fall. Everyone screamed, running to find the exit. Some of the ground was almost cracked and destroyed. Things go awry, all the roang are racing to reach the exit.

There's nothing Hazel can do now. But nothing is too late. Hazel looks for Spencer and Hamish and Josh who followed her earlier. But now it's gone, suddenly someone slaps Hazel on the shoulder.

“You must be Hazel!” Nissa smiled at Hazel.

“Who are you?” hazel asked confusedly.

“This is not the right time to ask that.” Nissa held Hazel's hand. “Follow me! I know the way out.”

“But I have to find my friend!” Hazel pulls Nissa's hand.

“You mean Spencer? He'll be fine.”

“Where did you know spencer?”

“I've told you, this is not a good time to ask.”

This time Hazel follows him, her instincts telling her to follow him. The two of them ran hand in hand, as if they had been friends for a long time. The sound of a bang is heard back. People were panicking and screaming loudly. There were some people who were trampled and Hazel couldn't bear to not help her.

He took off Nissa's grasp and ran up to the person who had fallen down. People don't even care about their children at times like this. He encouraged the people who wanted to step on the child, then helped him to stand up.

“You okay?” ask Hazel the boy. She is probably about twelve years old and has beautiful brown eyes.

“Hand my hand!” Hazel extended her hand. The boy grabbed her and she went back to Nissa.

The three of them ran, holding hands tightly. The building began to collapse and fall to the ground. The thump for the third time and sounded louder. They've made it out of there. The people who had made it out looked extremely shocked and incredulous.

“Thania!” someone shouted from behind and then hugged the child. “Pardon mom, mom has no intention of leaving you!”

“Thania?” Hazel was silent for a moment.

“I have the same name as my ancestor,” Thania said suddenly.

Hazel smiles, “Beautiful name.” It was only fitting that he saw the same eyes as Thania in his day.

“Thank you,” said the boy.

“We have to find another,” Hazel is talking to Nissa now.

“Ya,” says Nissa briefly.

They both walk. Some people cry because they cannot find friends or family members. Hazel felt very guilty. All this was his fault, he could not think any faster to tell people.

“Hazel!” someone shouted from behind them.

Hazel turns around and gets a warm hug from a person she didn't expect. “Hamish? I'm sorry for leaving you. I swear, I have no intention of leaving you,” those words are like Hazel quoted from the mother earlier.

Hamish placed his index finger on Hazel's lips. Marking him to be quiet, “Sshh, I'm fine. Most importantly you survived.”

Hazel glances at Spencer, making eye contact with him. Spencer shows a strange face that Hazel can't read. But then he glanced at Nissa, approached her, and hugged her exactly as Hamish had done to Hazel.

“I also miss you Nissa.” Spencer hugs Nissa and glances at Hazel.

This feeling really bothered Hazel's mind. Especially when she finds out that Olivia is her sister not his wife. But she also remembers a time when Spencer cared more about Laura than about Hazel. This might be a good time for revenge.

“Come guys! This is no time for reunions and talks. We're here on a mission,” Josh folded his arms in the chest.

“He's right. And there's a lot I have to tell you. We need a place to rest.” Spencer glanced at Hazel who was still in Hamish's arms. Obviously the man really misses him or regrets him.

Hamish takes off his arms, Hazel smiles because she believes she made Spencer jealous. Seen from his slightly strange and inexplicable face.

“But we don't have a dime of units,” Hamish commented.

“Who said? I have.” Josh took his black glasses that he had hung and put them on.

“Why are you wearing those sunglasses?” ask Nissa curiously.

“You'll know later. I'm sure now you're hungry,” Josh glanced at his watch. “It's time for you guys to have breakfast.”
