What Used to Happen

The large room was surrounded by white walls with no windows. Being in there makes you never know whether it's out day or night. Moreover, every caged victim has never seen a clock, drugged repeatedly makes the mind can no longer remember what it was like to have been in the outside world.

There are four beds there. Three of them are occupied by ‘body project’ which is lying with various hoses here and there. About six doctors/researchers went back and forth in the room, repeatedly checking the condition of each project on the monitor.

“Why is the fourth bed empty?”

“I want dead projects not to leave any marks on this place. Destroy until it becomes dust.” Big Boss smirked and sucked back his cigar. “Man should return to dust.”

Vincent's eyes glazed over. Although he heard like this but his body was completely immobilized, all stiff. The sound of a chair being shifted signaled Big Boss coming out of his seat and walking closer to each bed by bed. Vincent immediately closed his eyes, hoping that the man would not come closer.

“I want to immediately get satisfactory results,” said Big Boss and walked closer to the nearest bed, saw the project with the name ProjectL03 whose body was being electrified by several doctors. “There have been too many failed projects, investors are questioning which results you promised it.”

Big Boss pursed his nose looking at the second bed, ProjectM65 whose body was already very thin like a bone wrapped only in skin. Big Boss likes aesthetics so he doesn't want his project to look like it even if it works.

He was on the last bed, Vincent's bed. He looked at ProjectV22, lying with its eyes closed, looking healthier than other projects.

“How about him?” big Boss asked as he pointed at Vincent with his chin.

“He made it through X rays. The drugs that we have mixed will give effect to it in a few weeks.” said one of the doctors.

“Venomnya how?” ask Big Boss.

“Oh... that we haven't done.”

Big Boss kicked the iron table in annoyance making everyone in the room startled and tense. “Venom is the most important! I don't care about the other drugs you're testing.”

“But he just yesterday got laser beam–“

“Do you want to replace him to get venom?” big Boss threatened the doctor.

The doctor nodded and was afraid.

“Do it now!” big Boss orders and immediately three doctors instantly move to do the Big Boss' willpower.

Vincent doesn't know what's going on, he's still pretending to faint. But he felt the hoses on his skin being pulled out and his bed being pushed out of this room. Vincent doesn't understand, what's the venom? Where is he going to be taken?

He finally opened his eyes and looked at the ceiling of the hallway. His eyes were dizzy just looking at that silver ceiling. He had never been taken to a place like this. His body shuddered when he heard moaning sounds from a distance, like the sound of monsters alone.

Vincent saw how one of the doctors opened a silver door that read “Ancient Vampire”. He almost thought he had misread such writing. Vampire??

The sound of the moans of the unknown creature was increasingly clearly heard. Vincent had not realized everything when the bed he was in was pushed hard. So hard to make an unstable position and his body slipped down to the floor with a loud noise. Vincent groaned in pain but his heart beat so tense as the voice of the creature became clearer.

Vincent tried to move as he heard the door closed and locked. The doctors who took him left him. He swallowed deeply. There can't be vampires in this room, right?

Vincent couldn't move his head to see what was at the end of this big room. A red light suddenly shimmered in the room, a light with the red CAUTION inscription on it lit up. The feeling was even more uneasy as he heard the sound of an iron door opening. His adrenaline peaked as he heard a rush of steps approaching him and the monster's voice became clearer.

Within seconds he felt a burning pain in his body as something was tearing his chest apart. Vincent squealed in pain and the horror grew even more so when the monster bit his shoulder.

Jungkook opened his eyes, feeling Taehyung had taken away his fangs and had finished sucking his blood. The heart was still beating very hard inside the chest because of how frightening the memory he had just seen was. Anyone in that position is natural if it ends very traumatizing.

Taehyung rubbed the bite marks on Jungkook's skin. He had not dared to return Jungkook's gaze, even though he had already felt what kind of emotional upheaval the human before him was.

“Tae..” says Jungkook.

The vampire finally raised his face, returning Jungkook's gaze. He saw how that human expression was like he had just seen something pathetic.

“What syndicate did all that to you?”

Taehyung nodded. Jungkook had already seen it, how barbaric the treatment of those people.

“It has happened,” Taehyung finally said. He gave a calm expression as if there was no pain in his heart. “Now that you have seen it, you already know how dangerous this syndicate is, Jungkook.”

“I will still help you.” said Jungkook fast and sincerely.

Taehyung grimaced and turned his eyes the other way. There was a hurt emotion in his eyes and he did not want to show it. “This syndicate is very strong, I was too arrogant when I said I wanted revenge.”

“Nothing is impossible, Tae. And I want you to know that I'm on your side.”

Taehyung turned his head and smiled faintly. He was grateful for Jungkook's words but Taehyung wouldn't drag anyone into his trouble. “Arra. But I won't retract my words if I want you to have a normal life, Jeon.”

Jungkook's eyes are growing.

“I'd better hide again, Jeon.” Taehyung lowered his face. “I'm overburdening you all.”

“What are you saying this.” Jungkook said holding the vampire's arm.

Taehyung raised his eyebrows. “You want to part with Taehyung, your innocent friend?”

“Ka-you can switch,” said Jungkook, “No one will mind. But you guys still have to switch.”

“Jinjja?” Taehyung smirked, “So you still want to see me?”

“You only have different personalities, the rest of your faces are the same.”

Taehyung grunts. “Yea, yea, I also miss fighting and fighting with you, Jeon.”

Jungkook rolled his eyes but ended up laughing as well. “I'm sure I easily won't be fooled when you and Taehyung switch. I can distinguish you guys.”

Taehyung just held back a smile. “It's almost dawn...do we go home?”

Jungkook took a long breath. He feels burdened if he comes home at a time like this and fortunately their college classes will be there during the day. “We can sleep for a while here until sunrise, how about?”

“Jungkook...” said Taehyung suddenly still looking at the sky, “Do you believe in soulmate?”
