DIFFICULT CHOICE PART - 1

Four years have passed since that mission,

Kakashi showed incredible talent at the academy. So, he graduated from the academy in just four months since he entered. A year later, Kakashi took the Chunnin exam and was promoted to Chunnin. It was a record in the history of the Academy and Sakumo was proud of his son.

Today an important meeting was held in Konoha with the council of Elders. The issue of the encounter was the increasing invasion by Kumogakure. Kumo has strengthened its military power despite a peace treaty signed during the previous war. Earlier this year, many Kumo ninja were seen infiltrating the Land of Fire with unclear motives. This meeting between elders was held to address this issue.

The meeting lasted for an hour before closing. It was decided that they would deploy a special team to track down the Kumo ninja and find out their motives. The goal of the team is to recover information stolen by Kumo ninjas and, if possible, get rid of them. That's an S-rank. Hiruzen agreed with the other elders and proposed Sakumo as Team Leader.

They all agreed with his proposal and an Anbu was sent to call Sakumo. Before long, Sakumo arrived at the meeting room. Hiruzen began to explain the details of the mission when a large map of the border was placed on the table.

"The Kumo ninjas have infiltrated the borders of the Hot Fatherland and the Land of Fire."

He marked a spot on the map while continuing,

“Their hiding place was recently seen around this place. At the moment we are not sure of their motives, but we want you to stop them in any way. Sakumo you will be the team leader for this mission.”

Hiruzen turned the map and gave it to Sakumo. Sakumo nodded and returned to his house to prepare for the mission.

Kakashi had gone on previous missions with his team. Sakumo writes a note addressed to Kakashi to inform him about the S-Rank mission as he prepares his ninja gear, scrolls, and drugs.

After three hours, the team was ready as they all gathered at the entrance of Konoha. Sakumo nodded to all of his team members as he spoke,

“This is an important S-Rank mission and I will be your Team Leader for the mission. I'll let you know the details of the mission as we move towards our goal. ”

None of the Ninjas had any problems with the setting. They all simultaneously set off for the Hot Fatherland as Sakumo began to fill it with mission details.The trip to the Hot Spring Land took two days when they arrived at the Border. They were filled with the latest developments by the Squad Captains who were deployed at the border to patrol. They were all quite tired and they decided to rest in the Patrol Camp.

Their team consists of Sakumo as Commander Jounin and team leader, four jounins, and five special Jounins who specialize in medical tracking and Ninjutsu. One of the Jounins is a sensor-type ninja. 

Early the next morning, Team Sakumo left the camp as they began to move towards the hideout of the Nin Kumo. The marked area is a hot spring waterfall with a small hot spring at its base. There is a cave carved behind the waterfall. Sakumo's team is soon in action when three special jounins begin to unroll as they prepare to create a barrier to block the cave's exit. The special jounins made some signatures and slammed their hands on the scroll.

Various fuinjutsu marks began to spread from the scrolls as they continued to crawl towards the waterfall. The signs are unaffected by the water as they weave together to form the word kanji for 'seal'.

'Fuinjutsu Scroll: Naka Sealing Barrier'

They sealed the entrance of the cave with a barrier. Three special jounins continued to stain their chakra into the barrier as one of them took out a small scroll with the kanji word 'gate' imprinted on it. He handed the scroll to Sakumo. Sakumo took the scroll and along with the other jounins started moving towards the waterfall. He placed a small scroll in the seal as a small gate opened in the seal.

All the jounins including Sakumo went inside the cave to check out the cave. Inside the cave it was very dark because there was no illumination inside the cave. One of the jounins took out a stick of light from his pocket as he turned it around to produce light. It is very dangerous to use fire-type jutsu because enemies can install various explosive marks inside the cave that can trigger from the heat of the fire jutsu and explode which causes the entire cave to collapse on their enemies.

The other jounins took out their kunai as they prepared for the ambush. Continue marching forward until the end of the cave but there is no sign of the enemy. In front of them was a stone table surrounded by many stone chairs. The smell of charcoal was still smelling in the cave. Sakumo leaned over to check on the nearby ash. The ashes are still warm which means not too long ago the enemy left this place. Most of their marks were destroyed as the enemy team seemed to be in a hurry.

Sakumo shook his head as he yelled at the other jounin,

“Nothing useful here. Nin the enemy left this place a moment ago. It seems they knew of our arrival. Let's get out of here and look somewhere else. I'm sure we can trace their trail.”

Clik... Kacha... Kacha...

Jounin accidentally triggers a trap mechanism as the gears spin and start several mechanisms. A stone cabinet from the side of the cave was opened as a mechanism to launch several kunai. The shinobi easily avoided the kunai because the kunai was lodged in the wall.

Srr… 

The sound of burning paper echoed within the cave. Kunai have paper bombs attached to them as they begin to burn. 

'Earth Style: Dome of the Rock'

Sakumo and one of the other experienced shinobi immediately made their signature as they erected a double barrier of mud and stone. They all ducked inside the stone dome when the explosion was triggered.

The explosion...

A loud explosion inside the cave, the barrier at the entrance of the cave began to shake as the special jounin was unable to withstand the explosion. They immediately stopped supplying chakra to the scrolls and gathered the scrolls and jumped back. The cave shook violently as it collapsed. Rocks, debris, and hot water started flowing inside the cave as it was completely covered.

The special jounins looked anxiously at the remains of the cave because they could not hear any sound from the remains. Rocks and debris began to tremble violently as they saw bursts of water breaking apart the rocks and opening the path.

'Water Style: Water Dragon Bullet'

A huge water dragon was spewed out by Sakumo as it launched a burst of water and began to break through the rubble. After clearing the rubble, Sakumo and the other Jounins broke free from the cave. Special Jounin heaved a sigh of relief as they approached the group. 

Sakumo immediately stops them as he signals the sensor ninjas to check their surroundings. Jounin immediately made a signature as he placed one of his hands on the ground and made a seal, which was,

'Hexagram Seal Sensing'

He begins to detect the nearest area for each Chakra signature. He saw the Chakra's signature getting further and further away from them.

“Jam two in the east about four hundred meters away. The other jounins immediately got on standby as they started running towards the Chakra Signature.”

As they ran towards the Chakra's signature, Sakumo began to ponder the incident.

'The enemy lured them in a trap to face them at once. Now the question is, have they set up a trap to lure us in intentionally, or are there spies among us?'

Sakumo began to analyze all the information he had gathered during this time. The ash inside the cave is still warm which means they left the cave a few hours ago. All the pieces of evidence and traces were cleaned haphazardly inside the cave which meant the enemy was in a hurry.

'My team arrived at the camp in the afternoon and spent the night with patrol guards. This means, there is only one possibility, there is a spy among the Patrol Guards who informs the Kumo ninja at night.'
