THE THIRD NINJA WORLD WAR

At the Kusagakure border,

Some Anbus roots were discussing something while hiding in a cave.

“Danzo-sama has ordered us to attack the Konoha patrol team. We must disguise ourselves as Ninja Iwa while attacking them. The order had to be fulfilled at all costs and after killing one patrol team, attack another. 

Make sure not to leave any traces of yourself, even if you die. Also, allow at least one witness to escape from your grasp to inform the village of the 'Ninja Iwa' attack'. Now disperse!”

"Yes!" 

All Root Anbus scream in unison as they use a transformation jutsu to transform into Ninja Iwa. 

The Land of Grass is a major conflict zone between Konohagakure and Iwagakure. Previous wars left both sides short of resources. Several powerful Shinobi were killed in previous wars that further reduced the power of the major powers.

The power of the smaller nations began to increase as their power began to pose a threat to the larger nations. In an effort to gain stability and resources, larger countries turn to smaller countries as the conflict between them spreads across the continent. The smaller countries became the battlefields for the larger countries and a large number of small battles took place among their Shinobi.

Iwagakure was left devastated by the Second Shinobi War, its strength shrinking by a large margin as Stone Country became one of the poorest countries after the Wind Country. This made Iwagakure desperate to control the Grassland and obtain its resources and possibly attack the Fire Nation.

Danzo saw this as an opportunity to thoroughly eradicate the Iwagakure threat and thus he set up such a plan to start a war between the two countries.

The massacre begins when Root Anbus disguised as Iwa Ninja begins killing the Border Patrol Team. Soon, this news reached the Captain as many teams were wiped out. The captain immediately sent a message back to Konoha.

Hiruzen opened the scroll given to him by the messenger bird.

“Hokage-sama! We have suffered many casualties at the border. Iwa Nins keeps ambushing and killing our people. We need to counterattack. Please send reinforcements to the border or Iwa will successfully attack the Land of Fire.”

Hiruzen inhaled deeply into his cigarette pipe as he gestured to nearby Anbu.

“Call all the Jounin in the village. War is inevitable.”

After an hour, all the Jounins from the Village gathered on the roof of the Hokage's office. They all kneeled while waiting for further orders from the Hokage.

Hiruzen began assigning different jounins to their teams in various strategic places to increase efficiency.

"Dissolve."

All Jounin blinked.

"Minato, wait here."

Minato stopped and stood in front of Hiruzen.

“Minato, you and your team will go to one of the most important strategic places in Kusagakure.”

Hiruzen took out a scroll from his pocket and marked the spot on it.

“This is Kannabi bridge in Kusagakure. If Iwa wanted to invade the Land of Fire, then they would definitely cross this bridge. Your job is to keep this bridge and if the situation requires, then you are free to destroy the bridge.”

Minato nodded towards Hiruzen and disappeared from his place.

'Minato, I have high hopes for you. Don't disappoint me.'

The war begins in full bloom as the Ninjas of both sides clash. Several shinobi from both sides were killed as the bloodshed continued.

Somewhere in the mountainous region located in the northernmost region between Takigakure and Land of Sound, 

The dense forests and bones of many giant creatures were seen jutting out of the earth. 

In an underground mine connected to some ruins, a secret hideout is located. In the hiding place,

A very tired and skinny old man sat on the stump of a large tree. The man had thin white hair hanging loosely on his shoulder with a large bangs of hair covering his right eye. He wore a simple black outfit and used Kama as a makeshift cane. Eyes closed.

The old man stood up from the tree stump as he spoke. Many white parasitic creatures with half-disfigured bodies and a middle section with zig-zag patterns similar to the Venus flytrap began to emerge from the enclosed walls of the hideout.

They all nodded at him as they began to move out of the underground cavern. The old man walked up to a large tree with one lotus-like flower. A humanoid bulge grew from the trunk of the tree. The old man looked at the humanoid bulge as he spoke,

“Hashirama, I will succeed where you failed. After my 'Eye of the Moon Plan' succeeds, true peace will befall this world.”

The man walked back to the stump of the large tree as he sat on it.

'Izuna, Kasumi, I will create true peace in this cruel world that takes your life.'

At the Kusagakure border, the fight between Konoha and Iwa ninja intensifies as more and more shinobi die.

Inside the Hokage's office, Hiruzen saw reports of war. A wrinkle appeared on his face.

“Contact Sakumo Hatake, now also.”

One of the Anbu who was guarding him disappeared, Hiruzen began to ponder the new report.

Kumogakure finally showed off his fangs in Konoha. In the middle of the night, various Kumo ninjas sneak near the border of the Hot Springs State as they launch an attack on the Fire Nation border. Recent attacks and previous Chakra ore mining incidents, arming Kumo ninja from head to toe. During the difficult times, Kumo also wanted a share of the cake from Iwa and Konoha.

“Hokage-sama! You called me."

Sakumo appeared in front of Hiruzen as he knelt on the ground to pay respects to the Hokage. Hiruzen gave a report to Sakumo who started reading the information.

“Sakumo, as you can see, Kumo has launched an attack on the Land of Fire. I want you to lead some jounin, chunnin, and genin to lead the fight against Kumo on the battlefields of the Hot Fatherland.” Hiruzen ordered Sakumo.

“Hokage-sama! Chunnin is fine, but even genin. Genin would only serve as cannon fodder as this would only add to the casualties in the war. Are you sure about that? ” Sakumo questions the order.

“Sakumo, I understand how you feel. But there is a shortage of manpower in Konoha at the moment. Most of our troops were occupied in Kusagakure by Iwagakure ninja. The battlefield is too important to waste. Iwa is eager to occupy Kusagakure and also attack our Land of Fire.

As for Kumogakure, they fish in troubled waters and are not too desperate. But we can't take them lightly. They had gathered a large number of weapons and were ready for battle. One moment of carelessness from us can lead to our defeat.”

Hiruzen explained the situation to Sakumo on all the battlefields on the map.

“I understand Hokage-sama. I will soon gather everyone and march towards the border. ” Sakumo nodded as he agreed with Hiruzen.

"Oh! Sakumo, take the Uchiha Izuna with you. I'm sure you're aware of him. It was his team that gathered some intel while on a mission to the Land of Hot Water recently.”

“Yes, Hokage-sama. I'll accompany him.”

Sakumo blinked away from the Hokage's office and disappeared from Hiruzen's sight.

Hiruzen pondered for a moment before he started writing the message on the scroll.

“Deliver this scroll to Minato Namikaze. He had studied Tobirama Sensei's Jutsu 'Flying Lightning God. His mobility will be of great help in battle. Tell him to switch battlefields at all times when necessary. I'm not sure what Kumogakure is doing, but whatever it is, it will only cause problems for Konoha.”

Anbu nodded while tying the scroll to the feet of the messenger bird who had arrived earlier. The bird flew and carried the scroll.

Hiruzen sighed as he began to complain about his old age.

“Immediately call all clan heads to an emergency meeting. We need to mobilize their full strength to get a chance of victory in this war.”

Another Anbu blinked and went to call all the clan leaders for the meeting.

“Call Homura Mitokado, Koharu Utatane, and Danzo Shimura for meetings as well. I am sure the wisdom of my old friends will help us a lot in this war.”

Another Anbu flickered to call the village elders for the meeting.

In the meeting room near the Hokage's office, all the clan heads and Village Elders gathered as a meeting to decide on the strategy of winning the war began.
