THE STORY OF ATIFA (mother of Kandung Aisyah)
The roar of Atifa who was pregnant was huge, making the eleven-year-old little Aisyah awake from her sleep, at dawn blind.
As Aisyah recalled, Her mother was crying so much that morning, her body shaking as if on the earthquake.
His father had just returned yesterday from his place of work. He migrated to Kalimantan and worked there as a worker at a coal company.
Aisyah woke up and saw, the mother was crying hysterically.
"Why? Why did you marry another woman? Why did you do it to me...?" Atifa roared in front of Faras, her husband.
"Sik, I'm sorry.but there he took good care of me." Faras bowed, and Aisha saw her father's face bowed before her mother whose eyes were giddy in a pit of tears.
"If you need someone to take care of you, why choose another woman? You can take me there, I'm ready to stand by you wherever you are! Even to any jungle I follow!"
"I'm sorry, brother."
"Why? why do you always say you're fine there, you don't need me to come with you all this time?? Why are you lying to me?" Atifa screamed as she charged towards her father who was sitting cross-legged in front of her and banging the frozen chest of Faras in no reaction, his mother was still wearing white face while his father was still sitting on the prayer mat. It seems, Aisyah's father and mother had just performed dawn prayers.
"Actually I did not want to make you and Ayesha have trouble following me in a new place and had to live a new environment while I had to work 12 hours a day in the mine. So, I really don't allow you to follow me because I'm afraid that you and Aisha will..."
"Bohoooooong! You lied, brother! You've planned everything..."
"Sir, I swear I didn't plan it."
"But why did you marry that woman?"
"He took care of me when I was sick while I was getting malaria there, he took care of me..."
"I don't accept excuses if you marry her because she takes care of you! The patient does not have to marry his nurse, that is no excuse! Don't make it up!"
"Sister..."
"Why? Why did you betray our marriage?" Atifa asked, her body stiffened with a face drenched in tears.
Faras was silent, he did not know how to calm Atifa.
"Sister Faras, look at me. answered me..." Atifa shook her husband's body, her body was squeezed even she had no strength to hit her husband's chest anymore.
"He's..." Faras's face lifted.
"What's? wh why? You have forgotten that you have pledged allegiance to me, that you have sworn in front of my brother that you will make me smile for the rest of your life? Did you forget?"
"I didn't forget..."
"Then why did Faras do this to me?" Atifa's voice was so sharp, her paled lips trembled as she asked the question.
"I.I love her." Faras lowered his face deeply.
Atifa was amazed, her tear-flooded eyes were nigh unblinking. That answer broke her heart as a woman and as a wife.
"How come, you don't remember we've been through everything from zero together, even if I don't complain if I just eat rice from the same plate to get through the hunger together?" Atifa's tears shed again, spilling unstoppable.
"I'm sorry, brother.that's why I told you this time, I can't lie to you anymore. I feel guilty for you..."
"sinful? Doesn't Faras feel guilty when he's sleeping with another woman while I'm struggling with a big belly here? Does Faras know how I feel now? I'm devastated, brother.I'm willing to sleep uneasily without you, faithfully waiting with my son every three months to gather 10 days with you?"
"Sister..."
"Sister Faras, do you not love me anymore?" Atifa wiped her tears, her face was soaked by her tears.
"I love you, brother. I still love you so much."
"How come? How can you love different people at the same time? How can you divide your heart so much that I only get a piece of it that should be whole?" Atifa blinked her eyes, looking at Faras in an unexpressible sad look.
"Say, sis...why should I be able to accept another woman to be my honeymoon? Tell me, what is the reason that exceeds your love for her that I must be willing to live in hell for the rest of my life? What makes you deserve to let me wake up sick at the thought of you hugging another woman in a different place?"
"Sister..."
"Say..."
"Eyeah...Ani. has pregnant my son." Pharas's voice sounded soft but like lightning in Atifa's ear. Never did Aisyah see her mother's face as pale as that, even though she only saw her parents quarrel from behind the curtains of the room door.
"Huh..pregnant?" Atifa drooped in her seat, her legs resting in front of her husband as if unable to withstand the weight of her own body.
"I'm sorry, brother.forgive me." Faras caught Atifa's body but Atifa brushed it off despite her fingers shaking violently.
"Who is named Ani? is that the name of the woman who stole my husband?.he was pregnant with Faras's son...?"
He asked as if he was reassuring himself in the sidelines of his rushing tears.
Faras did not answer, but his gaze was straight on Atifa, he could no longer answer his wife's question, for every time he answered her as if he were inciting her heart.
"Sister Faras, why did Faras do it?" The same question that did not change from the beginning was like a stupid question but that was all that Atifa's lips could ask, women who feel defeated in romance and wives who feel devastated because of duakan.
"Sister Faras, I am also pregnant with your child. Our son.your legitimate son..." Atifa cried while holding her protruding stomach. In the next month, Atifa will give birth to a baby, a sister who is very much in wait Aisyah.
"Sister Faras, I can't accept your marriage to another woman, I don't want to lie and say I'm fine when I know you're marrying another woman.
I cannot pretend to be sincere and happy, my knowledge has not yet arrived there, Faras... Choose me or him..."
