"Happy birthday, we say."
Chanting from Frasya and Mother while clapping. On the table was a birthday cake, topped with two candles of the number 24.
Elina smiled happily, as well as clapping her hands. Frasya exclaimed, "Make a wish, Brother." And so, Elina linked her ten fingers together and closed her eyes. A prayer is said in the heart, then blows out the candle.
"Yey!" Frasya. A round of applause, then hugged Elina while congratulating her.
My mother did the same. "Hopefully what you want is accomplished" he said later.
"Amiii." May Elina be able to meet her lover soon.
Not only eating cake today, but also making mini rice tumpeng made by Mom. Elina has also promised to make donations for orphans on her birthday. So the next day, he visited the orphanage and gave some money to the caretaker.
His smile grew, the children congratulated and regretted it.
The crying sound of the baby distracts him, as he is about to move home. One of the young women who also helped take care of the parlor, brought a baby. Elina felt attracted to the baby girl, who the caretaker said was found in a garbage bin, in a state of being newly born.
"May I carry it, ma'am?" elina asked for permission.
"Byeah, Ma'am."
The woman handed the baby into her cradle. The feeling of sadness and sadness immediately surrounded him, when the baby was in his hands. "What kind of mother would throw it away like this?" he murmured, with tears flowing down his cheeks.
She remembered the baby first. If she hadn't met Matthew, she would have been a cruel mother like the mother of this baby. But after that, there is affection for the baby, even though in the end God has taken it before birth.
He thought, How was his face when he was born? Is he a handsome baby boy like his father? Or a baby girl who looks like her? If only he could take good care of the baby, perhaps he would have been born with a lot of affection from her and Matthew.
"Sister," said Frasya, breaking her daydream. "Aren't you crying?"
Elina flinched, looking at the baby no longer crying. The tears were wiped away, quickly the baby was returned to the carrier's sling. "It's a pity for him" he said. "Is he named?"
"We haven't given a name for her yet, Ma'am," replied the mother of the parlour. "Do you have any suggestions for what name to give?"
His memory goes back to the past. At that time, they were talking back about the name of their future baby at the dinner table. Matthew was busy browsing the internet, then put his phone, turned his eyes to Elina who was spending her milk.
"Elina, I've prepared a name for our child" he said enthusiastically.
Elina glanced a little, then placed the empty glass on the table. "What?"
"For a baby boy his name is Malvin. For a baby girl her name is Eiliya."
"Hmm .. great. Go on, what does that mean?" elina asked, leaning her body slightly closer towards Matthew.
"It means love."
"Love?" Elina frowned.
"Yes. They're babies formed out of love from both of us."
Elina laughed and Matthew too. The name was not a joke, or a Matthew's flirtation to please Elina. It is true, the child is the fruit of their love. But the baby was no longer there, and the prepared name could not be given to him.
So then....
"I gave this boy the name Eiliya."
-;-;-;-
"Elina miscarried, and she went out of nowhere."
Those blue eyes were closed. He pierced into his heart which was full of wounds. The words were ringing in his ears ever since they came out of William's mouth.
Due to being in a coma for too long, Matthew's nerves become stiff. So, he must be treated, until he can move and walk as before the accident.
Without wasting any time and regardless of William's words, Matthew rushed to find Elina to Jakarta. Unfortunately, he did not find the woman. He had been looking at the house he rented, it turns out Elina had already cleaned up her things. Then, looking into the rented house of Elina's mother and sister living, there was no result either - they had moved on since 3 months ago. His only hope is Raima.
"Sorry, Mister. I don't know either" Raima replied regretfully. "She was not alone with me, when mom and Frasya left. But it says the landlord, Elina, took them away."
Matthew was frustrated. "Please, Raima. Don't lie."
"Keep, did he ever call you?"
"No. I tried calling her number, but she wasn't active until now."
Matthew returned without hope. His heart was crushed, with the rest of the memories that often appeared in his mind. Two years he wallowed in the torment of longing and a sick heart. He lived his life in a haughty city called London.
Just this time, he returned to Jakarta on business. He's 30 years old. He was on a plane with his secretary named Gery.
He accepted the dish, then ate it without comment. A glass of delicious wine put him to sleep, erasing the memories that re-spin in his brain.
Finally, he arrived in Jakarta. He remembers setting foot in this airport with his three best friends, then meeting .. ah, remember again!
"Come, sir," said Gery, inviting Matthew to get out of the airport to the waiting pickup.
The driver is still the same, working at Dewi's house, Mr. Rano. The man glanced at Matthew from the rear-view mirror, who was more focused on his files than he was on chatting, just like when they met. The man was so cold, no longer greeting her or simply smiling at her. Rano did nothing either. That man has changed.
"Sorry, Den. Can I listen to the radio?" ask Mr. Rano.
"Please," Matthew replied, without a single look.
Mr. Rano is turning the news channel. The host read the topic about the weather. The weather was cloudy today, he said.
Yes, early November, where black clouds hang in the sky, is ready to spill water spots onto the earth. And this month exactly two years he lost Elina.
Matthew looked at the car window. The drizzle began to drip on the car window glass. He noticed the water spatter, ignoring Pak Rano's complaints about the rain that would make Jakarta flood.
The traffic light was red, the car stopped. In front of him was a woman who was crossing while covering her head with a bag. Matthew was still looking in the same direction, so he did not realize that the woman in beige clothes who passed right in front of his car was Elina.
He turned his head towards the front, when Elina reached the end of the road, which then ran towards the bus stop. Today, Elina is not riding her bike because it is being repaired. He took the bus to a place, where someone he deeply missed settled down.
He stepped down from the bus, down the road to an alley. The rain is now just a speck of water that will not make his clothes wet. The boys were running around drenched in rain, passing in front of him. Smile reviewed. So the same mood in this place.
He arrived in front of the house whose door has now changed the color of the paint, but the shape is still the same. In the afternoon he was usually still at home; so, he knocked on the door.
Shortly after, the door opened. A beautiful woman, who was wearing tight white T-shirts and hot pants, came out while yawning.
Elina smiled and greeted, "Hi, Ima. How are you?"
-;-;-;-
Although shocked, but Dewi and Monika welcome the arrival of Matthew happily. It has been two years not to Jakarta, even Justin always asked his favorite om.
Matthew immediately hugged Justin who was already grown and began to enter pre-school. The boy was carrying, and three boxes of toys were given to him.
"Thank you, Om." Well, it's funny Justin said it. "Om, let's play, yuk!"
Matthew smiled and was about to answer, but Monika interrupted. "Omm, tired again. Later, yeah?"
Justin, who could not fight his mother, put his lips together, and turned his disappointment to his toys.
Monika tells Matthew to go to the room, after a maid has put her suitcase into the room. Matthew said, then walked upstairs.
This house also has many memories. Each step of his memory floated in the past. He stopped at the last step of the stairs upstairs, then looked at the terrace in front of Justin's room. There the shadow of Elina cleaning up the toy appeared.
Likewise at night, where his eyes are difficult to close. He stepped into the back garden, pegged there while looking at the long empty wooden bench. There were sweet memories there, as he and Elina ate ramjak. He also often met her here, just giving her a glass of warm milk.
Her lips when she spoke, her attitude, her warm embrace, and her smile .. ah, why does that woman always haunt her mind? It's been two years, and he won't leave, even if it's just his shadow. His love was too imprinted in his heart, so that at any moment there would be nothing he could love but Elina.
Ever since Elina left, she had forgotten how to be happy, laugh, even her tears had dried up just to miss her. I hate it, but it's hard. Is this love a curse?
The pulsations in his head were getting bigger. His eyes closed tightly while holding his head. After the pain had lessened, he looked up and was stunned.
Whether this was a hallucination or reality, he saw Elina sitting there, turning to her. Her stomach was flat, her hair was tied with a pincher until she had a white neck. She smiles. The smile she last saw, when they had expressed love.
"Elynn?"[]
