[Season 2] CHAPTER FORTY ONE

A few days passed quietly. Matthew worked as usual, not thinking about Charlotte who might not threaten him.

However, a letter from the court made his mood chaotic.

"Marriage?" he muttered furiously, after reading the letter, then glanced at his secretary. "Hurry up, call my lawyer!"

The man rushes to contact Jonathan's family trust lawyer, Aaron Efendi, or his father Kenan. Together with his son, Aaron went to Matthew's office to settle the lawsuit.

But something else happened to him. His secretary came into the room, carrying an impromptu schedule.

"The shareholders want to have a board meeting" said the bespectacled man.

Matthew snorted and stood up from his chair. His move to the meeting room was very fast, especially when his secretary mentioned the agenda of the meeting this afternoon.

Unexpectedly, many shareholders want to replace the company leader. Matthew's unhappy face appeared upon entering the room. Then, he immediately sat in his place, staring at everyone who was looking at him.

His ferocious expression slowly faded into calm, despite the anger rumbling within his chest. "So, what made you make this impromptu meeting?"

A fat man, with a head overgrown with thin hair, stood up. "We want to propose a change of position of the president who has been occupied by Logan."

Matthew's hand clenched, still holding back his anger. "Why is that? Did Logan hurt the company? Did he commit corruption?"

The people there fell silent, glancing at each other. Then, the man cleared his throat and replied in a rather small voice. "No, not."

"Want to!" matthew spoke in a high tone. "What made you make that decision?"

"Have you ever heard of the late Thomas Hendarto? He gave the highest office, then all the assets to his adopted son named Jimmy" replied the man. "But Jimmy betrayed trust, sold off Hendarto's entire family assets until the family fell into poverty."

Then, across from the man chimed in. "Logan is also your adopted son. Are you sure you want to leave your company and assets to your adopted child? We never know what someone's heart really looks like."

Matthew's jaw hardened, then he laughed cynically. "So, do you think Logan is like Jimmy?" she was slow but cold.

Slowly, he got up from the chair, unexpectedly he kicked the table until everyone gasped. "I'm still alive! Why are you talking about unimportant things now? I want to give all my assets to Logan, it's up to me. You all have no right to set me up!"

"But, we only give advice, warning not to happen the same thing," said the fat man.

"Do you think all foster kids are that bad? Logan was well educated. You can see how he takes care of the company under his leadership" Matthew said.

"If indeed he was well educated," A man with hair filled with gray hair spoke up, "why could he impregnate his employees?"

"CLOSED YOUR MOUTH!" matthew snapped, his eyes glaring furiously.

"Sir Matthew, we know Logan has made the best contribution to the company. But, seeing the scandal you cover, it makes us hesitant to make him president, let alone the owner of this company, later."

Matthew sighed, silent looking one by one the faces of the people had turned back to him. Sarcastic laughter filled the room, leaving everyone astonished.

"Okay, if you feel any doubt, please withdraw your shares from this company," he said.

Where might they do that, while the shares of this company are uphill. Matthew smiled smugly looking at those confused and doubtful faces.

Problem solved, none of them dared to speak up again. Matthew left the room with his secretary.

Logan takes Anna to a mansion so large, with a large courtyard. The house belongs to Jonathan's family, where Matthew once lived and where Logan grew up.

Now, the house is occupied by a family, an asset handed over to a stepson.

A servant invites Logan and Anna to sit in the living room, while the woman will call the host.

"Nothing has changed" muttered Logan, looking at the whole place.

Anna looked over, interested in Logan's words. "You come here often?"

"I even grew up in this place, along with my aunt," Logan said.

"Oh." Anna nodded.

The two stood up as a woman in a light blue dress entered the room with a smile. Behind him, caught up with a handsome man who had dressed up neatly.

"Logan?" greet the woman named Aurellie, her aunt who is also Matthew's half-sister. He glanced, smiling at Anna. "Are you Logan's wife? Sorry, I didn't come to your wedding that day. Meet me, I'm the tant."

Anna shook the woman's delicate hand while smiling. Then Aurellie hugged him.

"This is my husband." Aurellie added after taking off her embrace, pointing at her husband.

"I'm Anna." The girl simply smiled as she clenched her hands at the bule man.

The man pulled back a helping hand, astonished that Anna had not shaken his hand. Aurellie who saw her, whispered to her husband, saying that Anna could not shake hands because it was a provision of her religion.

"By the way, where are you going?" ask Logan.

"We're going to a charity concert that the company is holding. You guys wanna come?" answer Aurellie.

Anna's eyes twinkled, shrinking with vigor. "Falarm concert? It can be."

Aurellie's smile grew wide, and she grew excited at Anna's enthusiasm. "Yes, that's it. Go, go!"

"See what?"

Logan flinched, turning straight. Realizing it was Anna, her hands were placed on both of her shoulders, then twisted her body until Anna turned her back to the board.

"Why are you still here?" tanyanya.

Anna was stunned for a moment, then said, "I should, I asked so. Aunt Aurellie's already inside and waiting for us."

"Oh, okay." Logan placed his hand on Anna's waist, preventing her from slowly entering the auditorium that had been filled with people.

Logan made her back stunned as well as nervous. What's up with her, so nervous just because of the touch on her waist?

They can sit at the top, where not only can they see the show more closely, the performers can also see them more clearly.

For the third show, the filler was a famous British soprano with a young pianist who had just won a major British piano competency.

Nina the pianist's name. He stood before the spectators, then was stunned for a moment when he accidentally saw someone who looked familiar.

A feeling of awkwardness approached for a moment. He let out a long sigh, before his tiny fingers nimbly played a classic song.

Logan looked restless, and it was seen by Anna. The girl turned her face while smiling sinisterly and muttered:

"So this is why he's acting so weird?"

Whether Logan heard it or not, he turned to Anna who seemed to be calmly enjoying the show.

"He looks ordinary? Is it only visible from the front of him, but actually he feels uncomfortable? he murmured in the heart.

Oh, Logan. Does he think Anna has such feelings? Indeed, Anna was amazed at the soprano singing that made her romantics bristle at every high note.

After the show, there was a gathering of businessmen who raised funds for this charity event in a hall. Aurellie and her husband introduce Logan and Anna to some of their business colleagues. In addition, they also had a chance to talk with the concert performers earlier.

Nina was also talking to those businessmen. And accidentally again, he saw Logan along with Anna who was chatting with Adams' partner.

This feeling made his feet seem to step towards the man. However, a man called him.

"Nina, I'll introduce a famous promoter" he said as the man stood before him.

He worries. His heart turned to Logan, but he could not resist the good opportunity that came this second. Staring at Logan who is now far away from him, then he decided to meet the promoter who will be introduced to him.

After Nina left, Logan turned his head. Perhaps the sense of the heart that is still left makes him called to look towards the ex-lover.

Anna, tired of smiling and courting strangers, breaks away from Logan. He approached the table full of food, choosing the dishes he wanted to eat.

"Well, confused which one to eat? What's chicken steak?"

Anna picks the food, then takes it to an empty dining table. The savory and crunchy taste of the food passed through his tongue who was wanting to taste various foods.

However, nausea comes at a less appropriate time. He bent down, smothered his mouth, and ran from there.

"Well, where's the toilet, huh?" he murmured in the heart.

Near the exit, he found a waiter, then asked where the toilet was located while holding back the nausea that would explode. Without wasting any time, he rushed there.

"Where is that girl?" muttered Logan riled.

Logan has been circling the ballroom looking for Anna. But the woman's nose is invisible. Doesn't Anna know, she's worried about him.

Aurellie who saw him looked puzzled, approaching Logan. "What's wrong? Oh, aye. Where's Anna?"

"That's it! I'm looking for him again" decak Logan.

"Ec ... Try looking in the bathroom."

Logan immediately did Aurellie's suggestion. He was worried about her for fear of something happening or getting lost.

A few more steps, he'll reach the bathroom. However, suddenly Nina appeared from the right side of another passageway. Logan nodded, stopping his steps.

"Nina?" he murmured slowly, frowning.

Nina approached, her eyes lit up with tears. Then, he leaned his head against Logan's chest, wrapped his hands around his waist, sobbing in the arms he longed for.

"Logan, I can't forget you, I still love you" he said.

Logan was fixated, listening in disbelief. Nina distanced her body, looked up and wrapped her arms around Logan's neck. He tiptoed, bringing his face closer to the distance of their lips almost close.

This hallway is indeed quiet, but that does not mean no one witnessed it. Anna, standing behind the bathroom door, heard Nina's words, and saw the scene, then she went the other way.[]
