Amanda sobs as she tells her past story to her husband Johan. Although time has long passed, Amanda could not deny if the death of her husband is something that she will never forget in her life. It was the day that a wound that would never heal.
Seeing the wife sobbing, Johan pulled Amanda into his arms. The man rubbed Amanda's back while trying to calm the woman down. Johan knows what it's like to lose someone he loves so much. Despite trying to forget and remove it, the wound will never go away. The sense of loss will certainly remain even though new happiness has come in his life.
“Shh .. Don't cry. Your ex-husband will surely be sad if he sees you crying from up there,” Johan said, with a faint smile.
Amanda wiped her tears, then broke away from Johan's arms.
“Sorry, I didn't mean to be this whiny,” Amanda said. He took a deep breath, tried to stop his tears, then exhaled slowly to calm himself.
Johan shook his head. “Amanda, no need to apologize. You can cry, however, do not let sadness ensnare you,” Johan replied.
Hearing that, Amanda nodded her head and smiled. “Thank you, Johan.”
“Sorry that my question is impolite. But, if you and Alan have never had sex, then who is Aneisha's father?” johan asked confusedly.
The question pops into Johan's head right after Amanda tells him that she and Alan haven't had a chance to have sex yet because Amanda is on the moon on their first night. There's no way that kid just showed up, right?
“If you are not ready to tell a story, I will not force it, Amanda,” Johan continued because Amanda never answered her question. He thought, maybe this is still hard to tell.
“It's okay, Johan. I'll tell you everything,” Amanda replied. “I don't want to hide anything from you.”
Amanda smiled faintly, then went back to telling her about her past.
After Alan died, Amanda locked herself up in her home. The woman never even went to work again because Alan's death really brought deep sorrow to Amanda's life.
Alan's death seemed to carry half Amanda's soul. Amanda's life spirit was also taken away by the man. Now, Amanda just lives a life without any more spirit. The woman even shuts herself away from the environment and the outside world because she would rather be locked in grief over Alan's passing.
A few months passed. Amanda is still living her life as usual, a life filled with tears and sorrow. Alan's death had been a long time, but the wound in Amanda's heart had not healed. The woman is still grieving over Alan's death.
There was no day Amanda passed without crying over Alan's departure. Every night, he would wake up, imagining Alan being by his side and hugging him in the cold of the night. However, every time he realized if all of that could only happen in his shadow, he would cry until he subconsciously fell asleep.
That night, Amanda was asleep in her sleep when she heard the sound of baby crying. Amanda blinked her eyes, then sharpened her sense of hearing. At first, he thought he was just hallucinating or dreaming. However, the sound was getting louder and Amanda was sure that there was a baby crying.
“Whose baby is crying these nights?” ask Amanda. Although she never socialized with her neighbors again, Amanda was sure that none of her neighbors had just given birth or had toddlers.
Amanda rolled off the bed, then went outside the house. Outside the house, he did not see anyone there. He returned to his room after closing the door. However, when he was about to lie down again, he again heard the sound of baby crying. He finally decided to open the window of his room.
When she opened the window, Amanda's eyes were perfectly rounded. He saw a baby placed in a basket covered in a thin cloth. The baby's face was red, cold.
“Jeez, whose baby is this?” Amanda muttered.
“Shh, don't cry. You are now safe here,” Amanda said as she tried to put the baby in her cradle.
“Who would ever throw a sweet baby like you? Very bad,” said Amanda while stroking the cheek of the baby. “But, it's okay. From now on, I'll take care of you.”
Amanda named the baby Aneisha. Although not her real daughter, she loves Aneisha as much as her own biological child.
A week passed. The presence of Aneisha brings a new spirit in Amanda's life. Amanda rarely shut herself up and was sad. Amanda is now much more cheerful and takes care of the tiny baby she finds lovingly.
The news of Amanda having a daughter was heard to the ears of Alan's parents. They don't know where the baby came from. What is clear is that they will use the baby as the reason they launched their plan to remove Amanda from her son's home.
“Amanda, open the door!” alan's mother shouted while banging on Amanda's door.
Amanda who was changing diapers Aneisha was speeding up what she was doing, then out of her room. He frowned when he heard the screams of his mother-in-law. Amanda was astonished by Alan's parents' arrival at her home because they never visited her once after Alan was gone.
Amanda opened the door for them.
Plaque!
A slap landed on Amanda's cheek as soon as she opened the door. Amanda held her hot cheeks while looking at her mother-in-law with a confused look.
“Why did Mama slap me?” ask Amanda confused.
Because, he never made a mistake. Meeting Alan's family alone was never after the day of Alan's death. But now her mother-in-law suddenly slapped her.
“You still ask why after what you did to my son?” ask Alan's mother.
“Ma, I really do not understand,” Amanda said confused.
“Whose child are you carrying right now?” alan's mother asked, pointing her index finger at Aneisha. “You must have betrayed my son, ‘kan?!” the accusation.
Amanda shook her head quickly. “No, Ma. Aneisha is a child—”
“Halah! Not much of a reason! Women do not know themselves. You must have brought another man into this house after Alan died, ‘kan?” tuding Alan's father.
“No! I never betrayed Alan!” call Amanda.
“Evidence is clear but you still do not want to confess too?” cibir Alan's mother. “Already, Pa. Just get this woman out of Alan.”'s house
“From now on I want you to leave this house and never come back!” alan's father shouted loudly.
