78. Zaki Disease

Hearing Thomas's story, Zara shed her tears. He recalled his beautiful daughter Aura who was 1 year old. Not only Zara who was sad, Santi and Irfan also felt very sick when they heard the incident that was experienced by the two friends. Tears did not stop coming out of their eyelids, even now their faces had been wet.

Santi and Irfan feel guilty about the incident that befell his two friends, especially for Santi who is the brother of the person who had harmed his adoptive brother, to make his son die. He did not expect if all this time if Zaki was obsessed with Zara to dare to do such an outrageous thing. Especially to eliminate the life of a child who has not sinned. 

Zaki is really outrageous and inexcusable, but to punish the man seems to be no longer able to because Zaki is now in a different world.

"Sister Thomas, Zara, I'm sorry. Sorry all this time I do not know about the incident," said Santi wrongly crying.

"Why wasn't there any news at the time? Why don't you tell us too?" said Irfan then.

Yes, at that time there was no news whatsoever that they heard about the incident that his friend was experiencing. 

Thomas deliberately hid his problems from the public because on the one hand he did not want his adopted brother to know if his brother had injured them to make his son die, and on the other hand Zara asked not to prolong the matter and asked Thomas to leave the city as soon as possible without informing anyone of their departure. They are indeed very angry at Zaki who has done beyond limits to eliminate the life of their first child. But at that time both Zara and Thomas agreed not to report Zaki to the authorities because other than they knew if Zaki did not have the intention to kill their child, they also appreciate Santi as their close friend. They finally chose the peaceful path and closed all the cases that happened on that day from everyone including the Zaki family themselves. 

Seeing his grieving wife, Thomas is unable to bear, while taking care of his departure to London, Thomas asks some of his acquaintances to find Zaki. As a form of his emotions and grief over the loss of their beloved daughter, Thomas gives a little lesson that will imprint on the man's body. 

Zaki is not evasive when Thomas's people take him because he knows he's wrong. To not be prosecuted he was already feeling very happy, so he could only resign when Thomas beat him blindly to make his body helpless and covered in blood. Zaki's apology is not reviewed by Thomas, the man just leaves Zaki at the place where he killed the man.

After that moment, the whereabouts of Thomas and his little family suddenly disappeared as if they had never been in that city. The closest people to them are none other than Santi and Irfan look very confused by the sudden departure of his friend. Thomas and Zahra were completely swallowed by the earth by his passing. No one knew of their departure, not even Thomas and Zara's parents gave any response when Santi and Irfan visited. 

Irfan had asked his papa confidants to look for Thomas, but they had been searching for months, no results at all because at that time the Thomas family in Indonesia and London completely covered their tracks for decades. 

"Sister Thomas, I'm really sorry on Zaki's behalf. I really didn't know he was obsessed with Zara. I'm really sorry, sister," Santi said sobbing. 

She even got up from her seat and crouched down in front of Zara to apologize to them for her outrageous cousin's actions that took the life of a 1-year-old baby.

Thomas and Zahra, who saw Santi crouching in front of them, were shocked and immediately helped the woman to stand up.

"Santi, don't do this. We have forgiven Zaki's actions so far.You don't be like this, you are not wrong at all," said Zara. 

"Honey, let's stand, don't be like this" said Irfan who helped his wife stand up and sit her body back on the sofa. 

Santi who was still crying was silent when he heard Thomas' words. Repent? Did his brother really repent before it was too late? 

"Sister, Zara, Zaki is gone" he said with trembling lips.

Thomas and Zahra looked at Santi in surprise, then they looked at each other and looked back at Santi who was still staring pus in their direction. 

*What do you mean? There's nothing?" ask Zara. In his heart there was already a conjecture that made his feelings raging.

"Zaki died a few days after your departure. At that time he was taken by his friend to the hospital with battered condition. He said he was gang-raped by the public for hitting a child. We don't know who he hit because Zaki didn't want to say it and the people looking for him didn't find anything."

Thomas and Zara were shocked to hear Santi's words. Zaki's dead? Was it all because of Thomas who had hit him at the time? They really didn't expect that what Thomas did to the man would make him die. Was Thomas's punch back then so tight, that it cost him his life? But as Thomas recalls, he did hit Zaki very hard, but not to make his vital organs seriously injured.

"But Brother didn't hit his vital organ, San. How could he have died from the blow of Brother San" Thomas said in disbelief. 

Now he and his wife are feeling guilty about what they did to Zaki. As if what he did was more cruel than what Zaki did to them because Zaki was accidentally killing lives, while they were…?

"Zaki had congenital heart disease from birth. His family covered his illness from everyone because Zaki did not want to look weak in front of people. We also did not know that Zaki had this congenital disease. When he was rushed to the hospital, Zaki's heart had a problem and he had to be treated for a few days until finally the doctor could not help him anymore."

Now Thomas and Zara are visibly shaking from knowing the truth. They really didn't expect that what they did to Zaki would make him die. Now they don't know what to do because to be honest, Thomas has indirectly killed someone using his hands. 

Now Thomas got up from his seat and approached Santi. He clasped Santi's hands with so many sorry words coming out of his mouth. He felt guilty for what he had done at the time. To be honest he had no intention of killing Zaki, he just wanted to teach the man a lesson that had caused discomfort to his wife to cause her son to die. But to kill him, it was all out of his mind. He and Zara had absolutely no intention of killing him. Let alone killing, throwing him in jail they are still considering it. 

Seeing Thomas apologizing to Santi on his knees, Zara also did the same by kneeling in front of Santi.

Santi and Irfan who saw it then helped the two friends to stand up and sit his body in its original place. Santi knows that it all started with Thomas's punch, but Thomas had no intention of killing Zaki and they also did not know that Zaki had congenital heart disease. After all, if it wasn't Zaki who started this commotion, Thomas wouldn't have been able to give him a blow to make Zaki soar to the world.

Because the problem has passed long enough and they do not want to exaggerate the problem again that will make everything runyam, he said, finally Santi asked Thomas and Zara and her husband to shut up about this. Although they do not know how the response of the two Zaki parents will be done Thomas, but it would be nice if they remain silent and consider all this is just an accident. Let's just say that Zaki's death was God's reward for all his deeds to Zara and Thomas.
