Poison Eve

Poison Eve
Chapters-16

The Forest of Monster Fairy Hunting was like a fairyland.

I thought this was the real Fairy Country, Evelyn thought in amazement.

The slender bamboo trees and oak trees grew curved towards the path in front of them. Behind it, the shimmering looking bushes were sprinkled with colorful grains of light.

The sunlight filtered through the cracks of the leaves, scattering bright spots on the surface of the forest floor. Black and golden monarch butterflies flew to and fro, in and out of the white light beam that shone down from above. Their bodies glowed like incandescent lamps. It was the butterflies that left behind a trail of colorful light sprinkles.

Evelyn and Nazareth stepped into the forest, dry twigs creeping under their heavy armor shoes. Hidden behind the trees.

Evelyn walked slowly while looking up at her face in the bright sunlight. His shoelace, which had slipped from its ties, was caught in the bushes. He pulled it loose and tied it back up, then continued his steps following his handsome guardian who walked lightly as if he was floating.

The crackling behind her made Evelyn turn around, and just at that moment she saw a white-haired rabbit slipping into the back of a pile of dried leaves. The rabbit's body was also glowing like an incandescent lamp.

Evelyn flicked her long hair and tied tightly back to form a ponytail, sighing deeply. Fresh air and fragrant therapeutic aroma scattered fairy flowers that average like blue tulips and golden lotus.

A group of silver-winged and one-horned crown-shaped wolves watched them vigilantly from behind the bushes. Their back skin is as hard as a rhino. You could say half a rhinoceros is half a wolf.

The sounds of buzzing and hissing sounded like the roar of a flood in the distance. Evelyn felt her head cowering.

"You're not gonna kill us!" the sound of whispers echoed on the cliff wall. Like the voice of a woman.

Evelyn jerked her head to the side, scrutinizing the entire place with a searching gaze. Who is whispering? he wondered in his heart. Did I really hear it?

Evelyn frowned, watching the rows of silver-winged fairy wolves. Maybe they were the forest guards, he thought. Are they whispering to me?

"Go Eve! We don't want to fight you!"

The sound of whispering again. It sounded like a warning, Evelyn concluded. But who are they? Why do they know my name?

Noticing Evelyn's pace slowing down, Nazareth frowned and looked back.

Evelyn's panicked gaze swept around the forest.

"Eve," the flat voice of Nazareth jerked Evelyn out of her fear.

The girl nodded and stuttered at her guardian.

"What's going on?" Nazareth asked and stopped his steps. Next to his eyebrows raised high.

"Ah—" Evelyn replied stammeringly. "Master, did you hear that?" He asked while developing one hand on his side.

"Sound what?" his guardian asked with a flat expression.

"I—" Evelyn licked her lower lip and gulped, suddenly becoming doubtful. "I thought I heard them talking!"

"Monster's party?" Nazareth furrowed his brows while glancing at Evelyn through the corner of his eyes.

"Yes," Evelyn replied with a bow. Suddenly feeling ridiculous.

Nazareth chuckled thinly and shook his head. Then continue his steps without speaking again.

Evelyn followed. But his eyeballs continued to move to and fro uneasily.

"You scared?" nazareth asked without looking.

"Emm. I don't know!" Evelyn answered unsure.

Nazareth slowed his steps and turned his head once more. "We've entered the danger zone." It tells. "From now on, don't go a step away from my side!"

"Hmh!" Evelyn nodded excitedly. Actually pounding. Not out of fear, but because his teacher's last words felt like the attention of a lover.

Nazareth stopped his steps. Then his two legs put up the horses, while his hands stretched out to gather strength in, he said, then pull his palm forward to his chest and move his fingers so much that they form basic energy fusion moves and instantly his body shimmered emitting a circular light like a golden disc.

Evelyn was flabbergasted with an astonished look. Nazareth's spiritual chakra amazes the girl even though she doesn't yet understand what it means.

"The fox! Come outside!" nazareth's orders were either addressed to whom.

Then a shadow shot out from the man's chest, his figure was exactly like his but in a much smaller size. It is about the size of an adult cat. His posture and facial lines are like those of Nazareth.

Evelyn stared at the guardian-like figure with round eyes and mouth. "What is.. doll?" He asked stammered between unsure and could not cover his surprise.

Nazareth pulled back his inner energy and the circular disc-shaped halo on his waist gradually dissipated. "Right," he replied as he turned to Evelyn. "His name is Migi Vox. You can call him Vox."

"Why did Master name him by his own last name?" evelyn asked with a laugh.

"I think it's a form of respect" Nazareth argued, remaining flat and carefree.

The puppet tilted its head, looked towards Evelyn from behind Nazareth's shoulder and grinned.

It really looks like Lord Vox, Evelyn said inwardly. His face, his hair, his clothes and his trinkets. You could say the miniature Lord Vox. Maybe his son too. But the doll's grin makes me a little horrified.

"Open the way, Vox!" Nazareth's orders.

The doll then soared to the height of Nazareth's head and turned back to them with both hands folded behind his body. Just like Nazareth's habits. The doll was now hovering ahead of them.

Nazareth and Evelyn followed behind him.

"Master," Evelyn asked doubtfully. "What's your protective fairy?"

"Yes," replied Nazareth remained flat. "My protector is actually a wooden stick" he explained. "Vox is the protective fairy of mutation."

"Mutational protective gear?" Evelyn frowned, not understanding. "What is a mutation-protective fairy?"

"Normally, everyone inherits a protective fairy from either the father or mother's side" Nazareth explained. "However there are special cases where the protective fairy evolved due to some thing. That's what the mutation-protective fairy is called."

Evelyn listened as she lined up her guardian steps. Her forehead creased back as she tried to imagine if her protective fairy evolved…

"Mutational protective berries can turn out to be powerful, can even bring out full spiritual power," Nazareth said. "But unfortunately most of the mutation-protective fairies instead turn out to be weak, as is the result of inbreeding, the chances of the defect are very large. But there is a possibility of giving birth to the genius as well."

"Master, can all the protective elves mutate?" ask Evelyn curiously.

"Not everyone" replied Nazareth. "It shouldn't have happened."

Evelyn was stunned for a moment before finally asking again, "What's the cause of the protective elf evolving?"

"That's the same as... parasites, you know?"

"Hmh!" Evelyn nodded quickly.

"Just like the body, protective fairies can also be infected" Nazareth continued.

Evelyn looked up at her guardian's face, demanding more explanation.

"You still remember the sign of rejection when you linked the spiritual chakra to the protective fairy?" ask Nazareth.

Evelyn nodded.

"Vox is too!" Nazareth added. "When I linked my first spiritual chakra, I broke it."
