Evelyn felt the floor under her feet tremble. It was subtle, but he could feel it so strongly.
Deg, DEG!
Deg, DEG!
Deg, DEG!
He heard a blast from his necklace. It was like feeling Nazareth's heartbeat in his chest.
Evelyn bowed to her necklace pendulum and grasped it.
His eyes lit up twitching.
Then she remembered Migi Vox was in it.
What the hell's going on? thought worried.
Then slowly, the light was shining brighter. Then it darkened and Migi Vox shot out of the necklace and soared towards the door.
"The fox!" Evelyn screamed and rushed towards Migi Vox while extending out her hand, trying to grab the doll.
But the speed of the Migi Vox is unmatched.
Evelyn slammed into the door and…
BRUK!
He hit the chest of a person who automatically gripped his shoulder and held it.
"The fox!" screeched Evelyn while rebelling and jerking her shoulders.
"Leave it!" voice over his head.
Evelyn looked up and was flabbergasted. "Master Claus!" hissing surprised.
Xenephon looked down at him with a cloudy look. "Guide your things, Eve!" instructions in a flat voice.
But Evelyn could sense something was going wrong. "What's going on?" ask Evelyn. "Where is Lord Vox?"
"We'll talk later after we get to the Academy" Xenephon said. "Now just pack your things, put on your mask because we have to meet some nobles at the tavern."
"But Vox—"
"He's with Lord Vox!" Xenephon.
Evelyn finally fell silent. Then he bowed and turned his back to Xenephon. Then rushed into his room to pack.
"Tomorrow you should report to the Angelos Order Branch Hall regarding your Spiritual Master Badge," Xenephon instructed after they left Evelyn's room and rushed to the tavern. "But before that, we have to fulfill the invitation of some nobles."
Evelyn nodded briefly. The look on his face was grim and wrinkled with anxiety. What exactly is going on? thought.
Why did Nazareth leave so suddenly?
Did he go with Hell Catie?
Who is Hell Catie?
Entering the tavern, they were greeted by a bow of respect from the clad female servants who were scantily tight and open.
The nobles who invited them a few hours ago started fighting over who had invited Evelyn first.
Evelyn could not think as the women pulled her hands to and fro.
Xenephon couldn't do much either.
Amidst that almost chaotic situation, the arrival of someone then stopped those nobles.
Hell Catie stepped into the room escorted by a number of servants and four royal immortal guards.
The whole room suddenly froze.
Everyone in the room bowed to Hell Catie, except Evelyn.
Evelyn was surprised to find Xenephon also bowing to Hell Catie.
The nobles bent deeper and deeper, while Evelyn stuttered with round eyes and mouth.
Hell Catie turned to the waiters.
The servants immediately rushed over to call some male servants who instantly turned the room suddenly busy. Some servants prepared the banquet table, some others prepared others.
Evelyn blinked and gulped. Staring at Hell Catie with eyebrows linked. But helplessly rejected.
The servants were already working hard, he thought.
At least I know Nazareth didn't go with Hell Catie Evelyn said in her heart. Seeing that Xenephon also respected her, Hell Catie did not seem like a simple person. Better just follow it!
During the banquet, Evelyn was more silent. And Hell Catie.
They just looked at each other from across the table like when they were faced on the arena stage.
Xenephon chatted with guardian Hell Catie about the final fight a few hours ago, while the royals who joined praised Hell Catie in a fawning style.
After the banquet, Hell Catie just spoke to Evelyn when they left. The girl purposely confronted Evelyn with elegance which made an impression as if they just happened to cross paths near the exit.
"The embarrassment I received today, I'll double down on the next fight" Hell Catie whispered through Evelyn's shoulder.
Evelyn froze for a moment before finally turning to Hell Catie and smiling sideways. "Intytime, Princess!" his response whispered.
After hours of sitting at the head of the table opposite Hell Catie, Evelyn finally found out the identity of the girl from every conversation a number of nobles who liked to lick.
"Thank you for the treat" Evelyn said without bowing. Then he went and followed Xenephon behind him.
Hell Catie gulped and gulped, looking at Evelyn's back through the corners of her eyes.
It was early morning when Evelyn and Xenephon arrived at the Academy.
Evelyn had been really upset since coming home from the arena. He lazily undressed and threw his body onto the bed. But his eyes were hard to shut even though his body felt tired.
Evelyn woke up a few hours later after going through the morning she spent flipping through her body restlessly.
He did not rush to open his eyes even though all the worries and busyness had kept him awake all night.
His first thought led to Nazareth, and the second to the conversation Xenephon had promised.
His heart slashed every time he remembered what he had done with Nazareth before the man suddenly left and did not return.
Evelyn got out of her bed, then walked across her antique, minimalist room with round windows and a sloping roof, rushed to the bathhouse and slowly stripped off her clothes, she said, dipping one of his legs into the bath, following the other leg, then his body.
The contents of his head seemed to drown when he soaked his body. But it didn't clean it. Those thoughts remained in his mind after he came out of the water and got dressed.
He did his usual routine - standing under a flagpole in the middle of a field surrounded by other students warming up.
But different from usual, once he understood that it was part of a very important basic warm-up, he was no longer bothered by everyone's scornful views.
Altair looked at him with squinted eyes.
After completing twenty rounds as per the academy's standards, Altair walked up to Evelyn and greeted her. "You look less excited" he said with an anxious expression. "Are you not feeling well?"
"I'm fine" Evelyn replied, forcing a smile. "Less rest."
Altair sighed and smiled. "So," he said trying to be cheerful as usual. "Are you still being punished?"
Evelyn chuckled thinly, "Not really," he said. "This time I'm punishing myself!"
Altair laughing. "What mistake did you make this time?"
"Didn't sleep well" Evelyn joked.
Altair laughed again. "Can I buy you today?" tanyanya expectantly.
"Oh, please not today!" sergeant Evelyn with a smile. "I made a pact with Master Claus."
"Alright," Altair grumbled jokingly. "Next time don't tell me you made a deal with Lady Die, too" he said, glancing to the top of the stairs where the guardians watched over them.
Evelyn chuckled and shook her head, "No way!" he said among his laughter.
Altair broke out as she ran away from Evelyn. Then joined her horde while waving her hand at Evelyn.
