The road to the Debut Arena looks amazing.
The road formed a straight line that seemed endless, surrounded by the peaks of towering tall buildings that made the impression as if they were entering a narrow gap between high walls, and, from the mountain that was split by a knife to make way for everyone.
The scorching afternoon sun that shone golden suddenly disappeared replaced the gloom of dark rock.
Xenephon stopped their horse-drawn carriage in the courtyard of the largest building at the end of the street and left them there.
"Master Claus isn't coming with us?" evelyn asked as she watched the back of the carriage that Xenephon was driving away from.
"He has other business in this city" Nazareth said as he led their way up the stairs.
Migi Vox looked around with the puzzled expression of a child.
Debut Arena and Guardian Arena are in the same building, becoming one with lodging, restaurants and taverns.
From behind the windows of a neo-Gothic-style inn like a castle, the turn of the day looks so gripping, dark and mystical.
From the large hall where they stopped to book a room, Evelyn could see the shadow of the towers and the triangular roof of the building forming across the grass, almost completely engulfed in darkness.
The interior of the building gave Evelyn a slight chill. Perhaps because of the frame of the windows that crisscrossed in narrow windows. The decor is dark, crowded and claustrophobic with a gothic theme.
The wooden frame extends all the way to the roof of the dome which is plastered in creamy white, supported with dark colored poles. Three chandeliers made of wrought iron, linked at high altitudes, the lamp frame looks like it was stolen from a dungeon.
"We need two second-class rooms" Nazareth told the receptionist.
"With all due respect, sir!" The receptionist cupped his hands together in front of his face. "Since the season of the competition was in sight, the newcomer Masters came from various places with their guardians. So, second-class and third-class rooms are all booked. There's only one first-class room."
Nazareth and Evelyn exchanged looks with a gesture of asking each other.
Nazareth certainly did not mind the fantastic price of a first-class room, but the remaining one meant that they had to stay in the room together for a few days unless they were willing to walk far enough to find another inn.
"I don't mind unless the Master doesn't like it" Evelyn said with a bow.
Of course Evelyn did not mind, it could be that she was hoping instead.
And what about Nazareth?
She also wished Evelyn had no objections!
"All right!" nazareth said expressionlessly. Then he turned to the receptionist and said that they would take his room.
Migi Vox grinned in response to Nazareth's decision which, if noticed, was not really worth discussing.
As a dark side, Migi Vox knows the secret desires of Nazareth best.
A waiter then escorted them to the room.
After Evelyn changed clothes, Nazareth took her to the restaurant, past the reception desk again, just as two diners booked a room.
"All rooms, especially third-class, are booked" the receptionist said. "There's only one second-class room left!"
Nazareth and Evelyn as well as Migi Vox jerked their heads in unison, casting sharp glances at the receptionist.
The receptionist stared back at them without any guilt.
"To make the most of the place, they get around every transaction," a man about forty years old interrupted before Nazareth had a chance to react and spout blasphemous words.
Nazareth and Evelyn spontaneously turned to the man followed by Migi Vox.
The man looked at Migi Vox in surprise, "This.." he hung up his sentence and turned to Nazareth.
Evelyn blinked looking at Nazareth and the man took turns.
The man stammered and bowed briefly to Nazareth, then immediately stepped aside.
Evelyn looked at the man's back with eyes squinted. Then glanced at his guardian once more.
"Come," Nazareth said expressionlessly. Then walk elegantly.
Evelyn lined up her guardian steps while daydreaming. The man recognized her, she said inwardly. Then look at Migi Vox.
Migi Vox looked up at Evelyn, looking back at her with the innocence of a toddler.
Focusing Shadow, Inner Evelyn. Two opposing souls fighting over one consciousness.
Is what the vampire fairy said true?
"If he can't control it well, then he'll be hit by a counterattack!"
Entering the restaurant area they were greeted by open-dressed female servants with high skirts combined with black corsets and fishnet stockings.
"Please, Master, Madam!" greet them while bowing. Perhaps Nazareth and Evelyn were married couples because they brought toddlers.
Nazareth did not seem bothered by that perception. He still stepped elegantly and chose a special table for couples.
"Later tonight is your debut," Nazareth said after they finished ordering food. "Are you ready?"
"Hmh!" Evelyn nodded excitedly.
"Don't show all the techniques on your first debut so the next opponent can't read your strength" Nazareth warned.
Migi Vox looked up at Evelyn's face with a face that still looked innocent.
Sometimes she was so pure, Evelyn's inner self couldn't stop herself from constantly thinking about the doll. Think about your first debut! he reminded himself. But his gaze could not turn away from Migi Vox.
After finishing the meal, Nazareth guided Evelyn to the registration section and returned to their room.
"Listen," said Nazareth after they reached the room. He unfurled the documents he had brought from the registration section on the sofa table in the sitting room. "Whether it's luck or disaster, but your first opponent is a great fighter who has already reached level twenty."
Evelyn stiffened across the table. How can something like this be called luck? thought pessimistic.
"The seventh day came to the Debut Arena, already winning seven times in a row," Nazareth continued. "In every fight, his opponent, if he's not dead, gets hurt."
Evelyn shrieked stifledly and smothered her mouth with her fingers, unable to cover up her anxious feelings.
"You must take care of yourself" Nazareth said. "If it feels dangerous, don't hesitate to admit defeat."
If you don't get hurt? thought Evelyn.
"Don't be swayed by reputation" Nazareth cheered. "Although you've won seven fights in a row, not necessarily your opponent only relies on strength. Do not underestimate the opponent or yourself. But also do not judge too highly the opponent, or yourself. Expectations are the most heinous of deceivers!"
Evelyn took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. Trying to strengthen his heart. But it's not as easy as it sounds.
"You came to the Cultural Hall to enroll in the Spiritual Master Talent Galician" Nazareth added. "Don't that mean just one thing? You're a martial arts expert!"
Evelyn did not answer. But his heart justifies. Of course every child who attended the Annual Talent Gali Event had a background in basic martial arts training, even Nadine, her female cousin.
Martialists are not always Spiritual Masters in the Elf Country. Some of them were Martial Art Masters and Warrior Masters. The most high-ranking one is the Spiritual Master.
Just as Martial Art is a region, Master Warrior is a country, Spiritual Master is a world.
"You were so confident when you enrolled at the Talent Gali Event" Nazareth said motivating. "I hope you're confident in this too. It's too late for you to back off now. You don't have much of a choice, Eve!"
